Hermitober 4
Prompt: Hippies
The room they had entered was not a room, but a long hallway with windows to containment cells. The first few were empty, but then they started seeing creatures. Some were unrecognisable figures, others were things only heard in legends, such as the salmon ghost. Then Impulse spotted-
"Tango?"
He stepped closer to the glass as he recognised his friend. Tango was chained to the wall by his wrists and neck. He was lying against the wall, tail flicking every now and then.
"Is that where he went?" asked Grian.
Impulse nodded slowly. He would kill Doc. He slammed his hands against the glass in anger and Tango woke up. The demon hunched forward, trying to fight against the chains to get to Impulse, baring his sharp bloodstained teeth. He looked like a trapped animal, demonic snarling making its way through the glass.
"Impulse, I promise we'll save him. First we should figure out what's going on here". Ren consoled.
Impulse took one last look at his friend and continued walking beside the other hippies. The next cell held Biffa, standing perfectly still, connected to the wall by many wires. They seemed to be the only Hermits here, which was good. May of the cells were empty, and Impulse calculated there were exactly enough for all of the current Hermits. That meant the owner of this place wasn't a hermit, or there was another non hermit to capture. Many of the empty rooms were fitted with some sort of trapping mechanism. Chains, wires, collars, manacles. Some had panels on the walls, others were completely empty. It was creepy.
The end of the corridor had an entrance to an office of sorts. In one corner was a 4 mirrors glowing with the colours green, blue, red and yellow. A desk sat in the middle and a bookshelf emptied of books on the wall. Everything was covered in a thin layer of dust. It didn't seem to have been touched in a while. There was dried bloodstains on the floor.
"Right, I'm leaving" decided Ren, turning to an iron door slamming down.
A bright light, laughing. Silence. The hippies looked at each other. What was that? The door had opened up again. They ran. The door to the hallway slid down. There was only one way to go now. Through the middle door. They slowly walked forward, the slight echo to their footsteps gone unnoticed.
