The Dark Silhouette
In the distant horizon,
I saw a vague silhouette,
It seemed so beautiful,
The one beside me faded away.
It's allure called me in,
So I started my journey,
Slow steady steps I took,
Towards the horizon, away from home.
As the old memories grew distant,
I took new images,
More steps I had taken,
I could clearly see the figure behind that silhouette.
Even more beautiful up close,
My eyes twinkled with admiration,
I was truly mesmerized,
The figure was magnificent.
A light breeze passed the figure,
A waft of something bitter reached my nose,
The figure was so rotten and hollow,
When I removed the curtain aside.
Old memories started rushing in,
Retracing my steps,
I want to go back,
To turn the figure back into that silhouette.
