"You didn't!" Patton shouted a bit louder than he intended but Desmond didn't seem to mind. He had just finished telling Patton about his meet up with Remus and Logan. The two of them had already finished and put away dinner and were sitting on the couch talking about their day. It had become a habit in the past two months as they started to get to know each other once again.

'I did.' Desmond signed, a smirk crawling his way on his lips before he began examining his fingers with a smug satisfaction

"That sounds like a movie, and it's kind of cute. I didn't know that you and Remus were friends though. I've met him a few times. He doesn't have much of a filter but he is interesting. I'm happy you like him. It's good to have friends."

'I'm learning that.' Des sighed, looking down at his hands.'What are we?' He asked, looking up at Patton. 'Just roommates?'

"I don't know, I think we are friends. I mean, I want to say that we are friends... Are we friends?" Patton looked a little confused and worried about that.

'Yeah, we're friends' But that didn't seem satisfying anymore. Desmond looked at Patton, the soft dimples in his cheeks, his curly hair that Desmond just wanted to rake his fingers through, and that obnoxious smile. He could get lost in that smile, the way Patton smiled from ear to ear, his cheeks squishing in a bit. Desmond was in love with that stupid smile.

... Crap.

He was in love with Patton, or at least he had developed a crush on him, but crushes could be pushed away right? He would shove it deep down into the bottom of his heart and that would be fine, they could just be friends.

'Fat chance of that happening.' He could hear Virgil's voice echoing in his head, almost mocking him. He knew it was his own inner voice but it was still nice to blame it on someone else.

"Yeah!!" Patton cheered, shooting up from his seat. "We are officially friends. I need to make us a friendship cake!" He quickly scurried to the kitchen and Desmond let his face slowly form into a comfortable smile. It didn't matter if he was in love with Patton. He was just starting to accept that it was okay for him to have friends. He wasn't going to try to jump into the dating pool. Besides, he probably just liked Patton because of how sweet and persistent he was.

Patton had busied himself in the kitchen, but Desmond heard him call out. "Logan and Remus are going to look so cute together. Do you have anyone that you are interested in?"

Desmond knocked twice on the wall behind his head, a signal the two of them had agreed on for any time that Patton couldn't see him. It meant no, and Desmond knew that was a lie, but he wasn't ready for that discussion.

"That's too bad! Will you tell me as soon as you do? I want to help you find someone special."

He knocked once.

Yeah, Patton would be the first person he told because there was no point in beating around the bush this time. Desmond smiled fondly at his friend in the kitchen. He just needed to gather his courage.

AN: Hey y'all. There's only going to be one more chapter after this and it's not really important to the story, just an epilogue piece. I'm not sure when it's going to go up though. I had a death in the family and it's been a bit hard for me to write recently. I'm hoping to get myself back together before the end of the month because I have something exciting planned for August.
