Chapter 17
As I walked towards his apartment door, my anxiety was soaring like a fucking airplane. I was trying to calm myself down by replaying Neela Maa's words, but that fear was still circling around me. I knew it would be fine, but my brain doesn't. My brain is preparing for the absolute worse outcome. I was now standing opposite his door (I hope), and my hand was shaking as I started to lift it to knock.
"He's not like him, just knock. He's not like him, just knock." I was repeating to myself as my hand was getting closer and closer. Before my hand could reach, the door swung open.
NEIL'S POV:
I had a feeling she was standing outside my door, and there she was. She jumped and took a couple steps back when I pried open the door... whoops, maybe should have let her take her time. "Oh sorry... come in!" I welcomed her inside with my arm. She painted a small smile on her face and nodded before walking in slowly, fidgeting with her hands.
AVNI'S POV:
His apartment was somehow what I was expecting it to look like (authors note: it's the same as Neil's little apartment thing in naamkarann). He had placed a bowl of snacks on the kitchen deck: apples, grapes and then some potato chips. It was sweet of him.
"you can sit on that little sofa over there... sorry my house isn't that fancy but this was what I could afford. I know you didn't ask but I'll just tell you anyways, my parents live in some big house not far from here but I wanted some independence so I came here instead." He explained to me, no I didn't ask- Chocolate Labrador.
"It's fine, yeah i'll sit thank you." I tried my best to actually act nice today so that there's no chance of any arguments starting because arguments with a man can lead into something more and- never mind.
"would you like anything to drink? tea, coffee, anything you want?" he inquisitively asked me with his damn puppy eyes.
"Is it possible I could have cold coffee?" Cold coffee calms any stress or anxiety that i have, so that would be appropriate.
"Wow! cold coffee? that's also what I was having, cool i'll make us my special cold coffee!" He replied with the most excited smile and hopped towards the kitchen. My nerves were much better than when I was outside- he is really welcoming.
"Hey Avni Ayesha, I told you it would be fine. He's a nice guy, he's nothing like your dad." I whispered to myself. I let out a sigh of relief and then a smile as I looked at him making coffee like he was in some sort of music band.
