Riya's POV

I came back home after meeting Ayush after a year.

For me, he is a true friend but I came to know he loves me through his mother.

She told me once that her son loves me and I started avoiding him deliberately as I was in love with Arjun.

I found it wrong to give false hopes to him.

But Ayush never crossed his boundary.

He is a true gentleman, in this one year he has changed a lot, grown as a human, achieved his dream job.

And one fine day he became a cop and came to me wearing the uniform and carrying stars on his shoulder.

That was the moment I felt proud of my friend, my true friend.

I truly missed him and his friendship these years, how cruelly I avoided people for my selfishness?

I did the same mistake with Arjun too.

I am a failure, I failed in tackling relationships preciously.

Why so? Why? I broke into tears thinking about my foolishness, blaming my fate.

"Riya" Nikki came to me hastily holding her tab in her hand.

I looked at her crouching my eyebrows keeping an annoyed face.

"What's now?"I asked her with an exasperated look.

"Police mentioned about you in the press meet and talked about the suicide note Arjun left at the time of his death." She said panting.

I smiled sadly and tugged her hand to sit beside me.

Nikki doesn't know about Ayush, Ayush is my childhood friend while Arjun and Nikki are my colleagues at work.

I met Arjun at my workplace, exactly two years ago and started falling for him.

Arjun is a guy, who girl used to swoon over and he was my boss's son.

He was called as a perfect Batchelor, the epitome of handsomeness and riches.

Don't know why I chose him and started dating him?

I came out of my house and started living with him despite my parent's warning.

That was the biggest step of my life.

I glanced at Nikki again and nodded asking her to relax.

"Ayush is tackling the case and you need not worry, They will call me for interrogation and it for namesake," I said a bit confidently.

"Ayush means your friend?!" She asked me after a second trying to bring back her racing heart to normal.

"Yes!" I nodded in answer.

"You know Keerthi was meeting a drug dealer and one of the suspected in drug Mafia."She looked at in astonishment.

"Ayush told me everything and he asked me not to worry as he will be there while they interrogate me, "I said slowly lowering my head gazing at the floor.

"I still can't believe all this Riya, Arjun was a drug addict and he chose Keerthi."She said wiping the sweat all over her face.

"Me too.." I smiled with a pale face.

"Arjun didn't give a chance for me to explain, He thought I wanted to leave him and move to a new place in the name of a job but...."

"He failed to see the fact that we were bankrupt and hardly have any money to sustain."

"He called me a selfish b*tch.."I sat staring at the wall.

I never shared this with Nikki though she is our common friend.

She sat closing her mouth with her palm and a lone tear fell from her eyes.

"How can he call you such?"

"I know he is impulsive and misjudges people but this is too much." She slumped her shoulders in disappointment.

"We were proud of you both when you stood against your elders when tried to separate you in the name of caste, creed, and status but it seems he failed to see your beautiful heart."She finished her small emotional monologue with a shock written face.

We didn't speak for a while, the facts revealed are too much for us to process.

We Arjun and me walked out of our houses very confidently but failed to keep up the same love till the end.

We failed ourselves failing our love in front of our elders.

After I broke up I begged my parents to forgive me, they stopped talking to me and communicate with me through my sister.

I know I hurt all these people with my foolishness, now I am paying for my sins.

"Riya" I lifted my head and looked at my elder sister Diya looking at me with furious eyes.

Why did she come to my flat?

"Diya didi" I stood up and walked to her.

"Come with me Riya," She ordered me this time, catching my hand.

Is she angry with me? But why? What did I do?

"Where didi? Why ?" I cooed

"What did I do? Why are you angry with me?"I asked and looked at her masking the hurt, pain in my eyes.

"Don't ever dare to ask those questions" She shouted at me making me flinch.

"Dad is not okay, He is at the hospital, Come."She yelled trying to control her anger.

"I won't come till you let me know what happened with dad?"I said gritting her teeth, clenching my fist.

She can't play with me.

This is insane.

But truly She looked so new to me, She never shouts at me and questions my decisions.

See, she is screaming at me and evidently anger with my behavior.

Why? Why the hell? Tears started flowing over my cheek.

It took a week for me to console my poor broken heart and now her hostile stares and outrage are throwing me back to revive the depression.

"Why? Why will be our dad at the hospital?"I questioned her this time.

"Relatives and others are talking about you for cheating Arjun and they were accusing you of Arjun's death case."

"Dad can't take it to heart and tried to talk to you but you didn't lift your phone."

"He broke into tears and got a panic attack."

"Isn't that harsh for dad to bear?"

"What do you think about yourself?"Her rage is so new to me.

I shut my mouth trying to swallow the sob about to escape from my mouth.

She dragged me out of the flat without thinking about Nikki and her shouts.

Another humiliation in front of everyone

I can't digest this, She almost threw me into the elevator and dragged me to her car.

Despite being knowing how her outrage will be I kept bickering at her throughout the ride

"Shut up and get down."She halted the car suddenly applying the break, with ,tyre making a screechy noise.

"Go..." She literally pushed me inside and I fell on the floor.
