Chapter 8

Moaning, Cassandra rose from a hard floor and grabbed her head. A chill raced up her spine as pain exploded in her skull. She didn't remember hitting her head. She inhaled sharply as she flapped her wings and glanced around her surroundings. Heavy shackles weighed her arms down. A wooden wall rested at her back where her uncomfortable bed rested, everywhere else, were bars. When had she been thrown in prison?

"Look Nimrod, it's Marionette." A male voice came from beside her. Cassandra gritted her teeth. It was the mage that fought her earlier. Fear struck her heart causing her to whip her head around the cell. Draco? He had to be around here somewhere. The monsters had to have done something to him.

"What makes you think it's Marionette?" His companion asked. Cassandra cocked her head towards the cell on her right. The light mage from earlier sat with his back against the wall while his friend, an animaloid tiger, laid down on his chest on their bed with freshly bleeding wounds. Cassandra's stomach turned in knots as the fresh blood ran down his back. Please don't touch Draco like that.

"Because," the mage rose from his seat and turned towards his friend." She looks exactly like my wife. She has her black feathery wings, her porcelain skin, fiery hair and violet eyes of death." Cassandra growled. The man was wrong. She was not his daughter. She had to find Draco and get out of the cell. She gawked about till her eyes rested on the cell across the way. A Rekin laid on the wooden bed breathing hard.

"Draco!" Cassandra screamed as pink sparkles shot around her body. The shackles fell to the floor as her body shrunk to five inches. The sparkles trailed her as she flew out of her cell into Drac's. The sparkles swarmed around her once she entered causing her to grow back to human height. "Drac, are you okay?" She fell to her knees beside him, holding his hand. "Please, be alright. I need you."

The Rekin moaned and brushed his hand against her soft cheek. "I'm fine." Cassandra hovered and helped him into a sitting position. "In training they told us to watch out for the Icerr tail because they were extremely venomous, however, Father forgot to include that they can control how much venom they can produce on one attack."

"Miss," the tiger called from the cell cata cornered from Draco's call, "how did you get over there?"

"I'm a Fea," she responded, not bothering to face him, "we can shrink to the size of pixies at will."

"Marionette," The mage cooed. Cassandra bit her bottom lip before turning to face them. The mage now held onto the bars of his confinement staring through them like a child through a window. His eyes were wide and full of hopefulness. Why does he insist that she was this Marionette?

"Look, I don't know who you think I am, but I am not her!" A sound came from above. Someone walked above them and towards the steps. Draco laughed from behind her. She gazed at him with a smirk, they had the same thought. A door creaked in the ceiling as someone made their way down the stairs and towards them. "Mystic shield." She whispered. The world around her vanished in its own hue of rose. Draco and herself stood as close to the wall as they could. An Icerr male appeared before him. His eyes narrowed in frustration.

"They escaped!" He shouted before running off. "sound the alarm, the mage's escaped!" Cassandra giggled and mentioned, with her pointer finger, for a set of key to come towards her. The keys lifted off the male's belt before making their way towards her. Draco grabbed the keys from mid air, they too turned invisible at his touch. She loved this spell, it made her blend in with her surroundings. No one knew she was even there.

Once the Icerr had moved out of sight, she stepped out into the middle the middle of the cell, "Realty break." The spell around them vanished. She transformed in to a small pixie once more and flew out of the jail cell. Using the key, she opened the cell and let Draco free.

"That's my girl." Draco laughed. Cassandra smiled.

"Marionette, can you let us out please?" The mage inquired. The Fea blew invisible hair out of her eyes while looking away from the door. Why would she want to help him? She doesn't even know who he is.

"I'm not Marionette," she screamed as she turned to face him. "In fact, why should we let you go. The way I see it, you are safe here where you can't get in our way. Let's go, Draco." Cassandra hovered away with Draco starring in her back. She knew he couldn't even believe what had just transpired, but why not? The man was getting on her last nerve.

"It's okay, we will come for you when the coast is clear." She heard Draco say from behind her, "Cassy is just having a bad day." Cassandra's eyebrow ticked. Bad day? Bad Day? He's lucky he doesn't know what a bad day for her even means. Without a word, she hovered towards the stairs. Feet appeared on the steps as more Icerr hurried down the stairwell.

"There they are!" One of the males shouted. Cassandra gritted her teeth. Black lines began forming on her arm. She wanted these pirates as far away from her as possible.

"Marionette," the mage cried once more, "the dark moon falls on those who pursue death." Cassandra straightened her back. The lines on her arms began fading. The world swam around her causing her to fall back onto the floor. She glanced towards the light mage who gave her a weary smile. What did he do to her?

Cassandra lowered her head. Her red bangs falling in front of her eyes. Draco messed with the lock that contained that man and his friend. I am not Marionette. She turned towards the Icerr. Egypt had appeared in the air and headed straight for her with one foot pulled close to her and the other one straight, ready to strike.

The fea smirked as she raised her forearm. The Icerr come into contact with her foot. Flames shot out from her a bracelet she wore with the dragon claw crest on it. The Icerr gritted her teeth trying to hide the pain. She flipped backwards, landing on the flooring. Cassandra glanced around her. Where was her staff? The cell door creaked as it slide open.

Jerod ran towards her. Growling, she spun towards him. Her cuffs blazing. "Marionette, It's me your father. I can help you control your mother's gift."

"I am not Marionette, I am not your daughter." She growled through gritted teeth. "My mother died when I was a young kit. My father is the guild master of dragon claw." Jerod backed away. Cassandra opened her wings before soaring up through the opening that led to the main deck. Squinting, she soared into the bright, blue sky. Pink dust wrapped around her as she shrunk back to her normal size. Before she tries an attack, she has to find her staff.

Flying onto a post that held up the mast, she sat down with her legs dangling over the side. She watched the flurry of activity below her. How dare he presume she was someone she wasn't. Altho, there was that strange dream the other night? Could the dream had not been so made up as she had originally thought? She turned her head and stared at the main pole. No, the man was wrong. He had the wrong girl. With her type of magic that randomly kills someone, why would he want to claim her?

A pink spark from below her caught her eye. Several Icerr rushed downstairs but not before Draco emerged with the other two prisoners. Now she was starting to see why he didn't want to go on this quest to begin with. Her careful eyes watched as the Captain took her staff into a room that was on the main floor. Cassandra flew down to the main floor and slipped into the room before the Captain had a chance to close the door.

Once inside, Cassandra flew up towards a cabinet that had rounded curves at the top and hid. Eliza sighed as she plopped down in a brown chair with red padding. A desk rested before her with many papers, maps mostly, rested before her. Eliza pulled the staff close to her and tapped the orbed with her finger, before shrugging and placing it on her desk. "What a useless item," she mumbled before picking up a piece of paper, "perhaps it could be sold at action for a fair price."

Cassandra flitted her wings ready to move in. She had the perfect illusion in mind, however, a bell tolled in the distance causing the captain to pick her head up and glance towards her office door. "What is it now?" She grumbled as she rose to her feet. "This is why we're so behind on paperwork, no one can do their job properly."

The door slammed shut behind the pirate. Cassandra flew down towards the desk and landed behind the desk. She focused her power and grew back to normal size. Letting out a sigh, she grasped the handle of her staff and turned behind the window that rested behind her. The ocean was beautiful. It was a deep blue with diamonds glittering on it, thanks to the sun.

Perhaps there was more going on than what she had thought originally. Given how her father was a fox, its not hard to tell that she was adopted, but what was the chances.... Her mind stopped. "He is not your father." A voice spoke with in her. "Even if he was your father, he left you." Cassandra hung her head. This was true as well. If he was her father, why would he return after all these years? Where had he been? Was she not important to him?

Anger boiled within her. Being the reason she was born and raising her were two different things. Even if this man spoke truth, he was nothing to her. Grabbing her staff tightly, she hovered towards the door. The man was a lier. He didn't know what he was talking about, more importantly, she hated him. This man who claims he knows her, will meet his end by her. People like him must die. A black circle appeared at her feet shooting upwards. She felt magic like she had never felt surge with great force. The whole ship was going to meet her wrath.
