Chapter 7
Birds cawed in the distance. Cassandra sighed as she rested on Draco's shoulder. The Rekim sighed as he glided towards a nearby village. Being Fea had its advantages, one being that she could turn her body however miniature she desired. Right at this moment, she was no bigger than a thumb, perhaps even smaller.
"Port Magdalene spotted ahead." Draco stated. Cassandra spun on his shoulder to face the way they were traveling. Pink sparkles surrounded her as she jumped off his shoulder and returned to her normal height. This was the closest port town to their home village. They came here searching for signs of Icerr.
"I love sea ports." She smiled as she breathed in the sea air thick with salt. Draco laughed and shook his head. Of course you would. It was no lie. She didn't particularly like the earthen burrowed look her father decorated with, but beach houses that came in various colors.
"Help," a voice rang out through the crowd. Cassandra flew down closer to the gate as Draco continued on without her. She glanced around the opening. Where did that voice come from? Glancing around she watched as a male with charcoal black skin, horns that came out of his head and curled around turned and ran down a side street. His pointed tail moved from side to side as he ran. A sack hung down at his side. A woman ran off the house. "Stop him, he took my treasures."
Cassandra laughed, opened her wings and flew after him. She made her staff appear in her hand before getting closer. She pulled her staff back allowing sparkles to gather in her orb. "Winter wolf!" A wolf with snow white fur appeared behind the male. He turned and glanced at her creation. It opened it's maw ready to chump down on him. The male rolled out of the way as the wolf slammed its nose into the dirt, destroying it instantly.
This male was an Icerr, perhaps he knew something about the pirates they were hunting. Cassandra flew above him. A beam shot out of her orb. "Deathly Hallows!" She smirked. One of her favorite things about being an illusionist is that she can use any spell without it being real. Even if it was real she could harness the ability if it and use it
A boney hand reached up through the ground and grabbed Icerr's heel. The male fell flat on his chest. His hand let go for the sack he had been carrying. Cassandra hovered in front of him as he rolled on his back, trying to kick the hand away. His eyes had widened. Cassandra shrugged. Most of her illusions couldn't be touched, so why did this one work? Picking up his sack, she threw it over her right shoulder and sighed. "Excuse me, before I have you thrown in jail for stealing, do you know anything about the SeaHorse Pirates?"
"Why do you assume I'm one of them because I'm Icerr decent?"
Cassandra opened her mouth to speak when a high pitched voice sounded from beside her. "Kaito, look out." A thin purple leg slammed down towards her. She moved her staff in front of her, blocking the attack. After she made impact, she back flipped and landed on the ground, beside the man she assumed was Kaito.
"Egypt, get out of here!" Kaito shouted.
"Sorry, can't do that. Sis would have me executed if I did that." Egypt started as she moved in front of him. Cassandra sighed and dropped the sack of money. Looks like she won't be able to take this girl down with both of her hands being full. Egypt threw her hands behind her back to help control her running. She jumped, somersaulted and slammed a bare foot into Cassandra's side.
The force sent the Fea flying into a nearby building. The wall she hit collapsed on impact. Egypt stood staring at her with a smug look. It was obvious she thought that little kick would take her out of the fight for good. Cassandra pulled herself out of the whole. An explosion sounded out in the air causing Egypt to turn her head. "Looks like a big sis has the bank open." She laughed.
Kaito arrived by her side gritting his teeth. "Let's take her as a captive." Cassandra gripped her staff tight, she refused to go down without a fight. A long objected shot towards her. She glanced to the right before pulling herself out of the way. He was attacking her with his tail. "Sonic wave!" She swung her staff towards them sending a sound wave that shook them to the core. The grabbed their ears before falling on their knees before her.
Making a 'tsk' sound, she made rope appear through her staff and wrapped it around them. "Now you stay here till the police arrive." With those words, she shot into the sky. She watched smoke rise into the clouds from a building whose face had been blown off. Flying in closer, she watched as an animaloid that favored a tiger and a human with blond unkempt hair exit the bank with sacks on their back, no doubt they were filled with money of some kind.
"I wouldn't do that if I were you." She smirked as she landed before the men. More Icerr came up from behind them with their swords out ready to take her down. A battle cry sounded from above her. A shadow shot out from behind her into the sky. One of the Icerr, from the wide brimmed hat, she assumed she was the Captain let out a laugh as her shadow soared in the air as well. Sword clangs could be heard overhead as the two shadows fought.
Cassandra tightened her grip on her staff. "End her now!" The animaloid turned away. The captain growled before snapping a whip against the air. The tiger flinched. Had he been abused? Did he know what her next plan was? Cassandra caused her orb to shine. The man with blonde hair, dropped his sack and stepped in front of the Captain. A beam shot out towards him. He flung his arms together causing a circle to appear and block the attack. What kind of magic was this? The Captain licked her lips as the Icerr charged with sword drawn.
Flapping her wings, she dodged the attacks. A cord of some sort wrapped around her leg. She let out a scream as it rolled down her leg shooting pain into her as if she had just been stabbed. Gritting her teeth, she glanced down. Blood poured off her leg onto the sand below. Her leg had been cut open with something sharp. Before she could react, the captain repeated the action, this time getting her right foot.
Cassandra screamed. This time the cord wrapped tight around her shin. She flew upwards trying to escape. However, the knives dug deeper into her. She couldn't move. Tears began forming in her eyes. She did her best to fight them back but to no avail. She picked up her head and glanced into the sky. The shadows were moved fast. Most likely Draco had met his equal or he would do what he could to protect her.
The blonde sprouted white wings and flew up into the air. Their eyes meet causing him to stop his attack. He hovered there in front of her. Cassandra glared at him. She didn't like this guy looking at her that way. What would make him change? "Get on with it!" The captain shouted. The male turned his gaze towards the captain. Cassandra shuttered. She couldn't shake those eyes. They were sad. Like they were in pain, forced to do something that they never wished to do in the first place.
Tears began cascading down her cheeks. Her legs throbbed. There was nothing she could do however, except power on. She watched as the man squared back his shoulders before soaring into the sky towards the shadows. She watched in wonder. What was he planning? She let out a cry as the cord dug into her right wing. The knives ripped the feathers off as they pulled downwards. Her head spun. She had never felt pain like this. What kind of awful person would wield such a weapon. "Drac," she whimpered as she reached her hand out towards the sky.
Cassandra struggled to stay in the sky. Each flap sent pain shooting up her spine. She didn't know how much longer she could remain in the sky. A golden circle appeared above her. It was the biggest one she had ever seen. If one saw it from the ground, safe to say it covered the whole town. A black shadow plummeted towards her. She moved back and watched as the figure hit the ground with a hard thud. Once the shadow that consumed him vanished, she let out a cry. Draco laid on the ground unmoving.
Bowing her head, she landed on the ground and fell to her knees unable to support herself. Rage roared within her. They had hurt her lover if not murdered him. Something ate at her on the inside. She hated these pirates. They were horrible and didn't deserve the right to live. She felt her rage consume her. The orb in her staff turned black along with her eyes. She rose ready for a fight, before she could make a move. The human turned towards his companion as several sharp pricks shot through her body. She fell hard against the floor. The rage vanished and so did the world around her.
