Chapter 7
Moonwatcher flew, straining to be just one beat faster. She flew so fast that she could've put any SkyWing to shame—well, maybe not quite...
Moon didn't even know what type of weather it was, but considering that she was heading to the rainforest where the RainWings lived, she supposed it was raining.
She had flew for several hours when she heard a familiar voices —er— thoughts:
Queen Glory is the best!
I wonder what time it is.
I'm hungry.
Here one comes, closer, closer..... NOW!
Moon barely had time to realize that thought was meant for her before a whistle sounded in her ear and a dart stuck in a tree a couple talon-lengths away. Moon dove and rolled on the mossy jungle ground, shouting, "Don't shoot! It's me, Moonwatcher!"
"Oh, sorry." Queen Glory melted into view, "Oh, come out, I know you're there." She said to the air, and sheepishly about a dozen RainWings appeared. "Deathbringer you too." Glory said again
"Awww come on!" a voice sounded as Deathbringer stepped out of the shadows.
"Really, do you honestly think I wouldn't notice dragons following me crashing through the forest?" Glory said, somewhat annoyed, and added, "You can't follow me wherever I go, you know. I need some alone time."
"Queen Glory," Moonwatcher said, nervous, "um, I need to talk to you in your.......place." Moon said, unsure what to call the Queen's home. "...Alone."
Glory furrowed her brows "OK," she said, unsure "I need to do some work later, but I can schedule it for tomorrow."
"Glory—!" Deathbringer sputtered, "You can't just—I never even seen her before!—She could be—"
"Oh hush," Queen Glory said, suddenly and surprisingly gentle, "This is Moonwatcher. You've never seen her before because her mother took her to the rainforest as an egg. She's been a student at JMA for weeks now." She turned to Moonwatcher, "Sorry about that, now, let's get down to business."
She turned, leading them towards the RainWing village and her hut, lifting the leafy fronds that blocked the entrance.
"Please, sit down." Glory said
Moon sat, took a deep breath, and got ready to talk.

"...And then I panicked, so I flew here." Moon concluded, she had just finished telling Queen Glory about what had happened at school.
The Queen didn't speak, but instead started to munch on a citrus fruit, as Moon watched nervously, apprehension rising.
"So, what your saying, is that you want protection, from your friends, because you think they might want to hurt you, because you were spying on their minds."
Moon shifted uncomfortably "I didn't spy on their minds, at least I did, but I didn't mean to... until someone showed me how to block it."
Queen Glory looked questionably at Moonwatcher "Someone showed you? Are you saying there are more NightWings that can read minds?"
Moon realized her mistake and tried to backtrack "I mean...uhh...."
"Moonwatcher..." Queen Glory said, expression serious, "I need to know, are there more of my subjects that can read my mind?"
Moon caved in and sighed "Well—..." She was interrupted by Deathbringer poking his head inside the hut.
"Glory. We need you out here. Now." Moonwatcher looked up, eager to escape the conversation.
Glory stood up and went outside, while Moonwatcher opened her mind to everyone's thoughts to see what the problem was.
Ooooo, shiny dragon, she looks angry.
Is this a SandWing? I heard Glory taking about one, like nice golden dragon except not.
Can I make my scales shiny too?
I saw some of this stuff at the volcano, except it looks pretty, like a flower. OUCH WHY DOES IT HURT SO MUCH, NOT A FLOWER. DEFINITELY NOT A FLOWER.
WHERE IS SHE? I'LL KILL HER WITH MY OWN TALONS.
Moon started, Dragons are here to kill Queen Glory! She ran outside to warn her Queen, and was met by flaming, chaotic forest.
She went to stand beside Glory and saw an IceWing turn around and swoop towards them. Deathbringer stood in front of Glory and spread his wings, but the IceWing wasn't heading for Glory. She rammed herself into Moonwatcher, clawing her chest and blowing freezing frostbreath at the wound.
The last thing Moon remembered was a new thought fizzing into existence: Sorry Moon.
Cold talons rammed into her head.
Winter!
And then Moonwatcher lost consciousness
