"Don't worry, I've got you." Bruce said and held Dick.

"Now, I've got you." you could practically hear the smirk as Slade said that.

"Yes Master." Richard was looking at his feet.

"Good boy." Slade's eye gleamed with joy.

Richard just sobbed more.

"Please. PLEASE! Don't let him... don't take me back...no...no more." Richard sobbed.

"Richard. Look at me." Bruce pulled Dick's chin up, so he was looking into Bruce's eyes.

"I told you once; I WON'T let him take you away. He WON'T hurt you again." Bruce's eyes held such an intensity of truth... and love.

Dick threw his arms around Bruce and pushed his face into Bruce's chest, as if he could disappear if he did.

"Shhhhh. I'm here. I'm here." Bruce rubbed circles on Richard's back.

"I'll protect you."
