~Luna's POV~

"Let's adopt a baby" John looks at me as we are driving to Seattle Grace, it's been three months since the wedding-John and I spent two months for our honeymoon. We mostly spent it either naked together, on the beach, sight seeing, or something. When we got back I quickly entered the competition between Meredith, Cristina, Izzie and Alex for the sparkle pager. A resident's holy grail. I am winning, because I found out that what brings you over the top is what your interns know and how well you are teaching them. So my interns have been diagnosing cases that I give them that I have already diagnosed so that they can learn. The other four are terrible teachers that their interns are coming to me.

"What?" Looking at John as he parks the car "a baby? You want to adopt a baby?"

"Yeah" nodding his head "what do you think?"

"I think it's kind of crazy" shrugging my shoulders "I mean are we even responsible or anything to adopt a baby?"

"I mean we don't have to adopt a baby" he says "we could always adopt a child or foster a teenager"

"But do you think we both are ready for that kind of responsibility?" Trying to get back to the point, I mean sure I want kids but now? I don't know and to adopt? The child would have to be a child since I can't trust a teenager, I feel like they would blackmail me if they knew the truth.

"Just think about it" John says "we don't have to adopt right now but I'd like for us to adopt at least one baby"

Pressing my lips together, I think it over "I'll think about it, but first I have a contest to win" quickly kissing him before leaving and running into the building to change into scrubs.

My interns are in the ER in the yellow gowns "How many are coming in?"

"Just one" Chen says, I go outside with my interns behind me to see the others look my way.

"How the hell are you winning?" Izzie demands

"Huh?" I ask

"Your ahead of us" Cristiana complains "by two hundred points, how is that possible?"

"My secret" shrugging my shoulders as the ambulance comes in and Izzie gets it, when a car comes in we go to it and see people attacked by a bear.

I get the woman in the front seat "Murray get a gurney now, Chen page my husband, Morgan help me" she helps me bring the pregnant woman out of the car who is covered in blood.

"My baby" she cries "my baby...is my baby okay?"

"Don't worry ma'am" I tell her "your at Seattle Grace" Murray comes out with a gurney and we put her on it before rolling her into trauma room three "Chen, assess"

"Ma'am can you tell us your name?" She asks as Murray sets up an ultrasound machine, Morgan checks her blood pressure while Chen gets information.

"My name is Annabeth" she cries "is my husband going to be okay? My husband was attacked by the bear protecting me and the baby"

I do an ultrasound for the pregnancy as my interns check to see where the injuries could be. John soon comes in and I say "Annabeth Higgens, twenty nine who seems healthy enough but we will get her checked for a head CT-the woman came in with her husband from a bear attack" the girls run out to schedule an immediate head CT "the baby seems healthy but" pointing to the mass on the placenta that I found and had my girls figure out what it could be.

"Hi Mrs. Higgens" John smiles to her "I'm Dr. Shepherd, head of OB. Let me see here" taking over the ultrasound to see for himself "how far are you?"

"About nine months" why is she going camping then? "This was supposed to be a baby moon with Jim's brother and wife" she cried "and my doctor said I was okay but not to do too much"

"Well" John says checking the stats "it seems"

I notice something, blood "John" he comes over and sees for himself.

"Okay Mrs. Higgins I'm taking you up to surgery right no" John is firm about this "book an OR"

"What?" She asks as I book an OR just as my girls come back.

"Your baby is coming early" he said

"What happened?" Chen asks

"Placental abruption" I answer seeing how the placenta looked ready to detached "we're rushing her up to surgery, so you children get ready to go into an OR"

~Time Skip~

I stand beside Meredith as we wait for Bailey, Izzie is bouncing on top of her toes when Cristina runs over "What are you doing here? You spend the last three hours watching a surgery-that's three points"

"I'm trusting you guys screwed up enough" Cristina cuts him off "that it won't matter"

"I could still win" Izzie is all optimistic "I could-I did get a lot of points today

"What's the matter with you?" Alex asks Meredith and me "where's the trash talk with you two?"

"John wants to adopt a kid" they look at me "and I'm not sure if I'm ready"

"You treat your interns as children" Meredith says "any kid no matter the age would be lucky to have you as a mom" but she also knows my other worry, about how the kid won't be immortal. I'm not sure if any kid I have will be immortal since their going to be a quarter angel. I don't know if they'll have wings.

Just then Bailey comes out with her son "Who won?" Izzie demands

"Congratulations" Bailey looks at the list with points.

"Who won?!" Izzie yells

"Dr. Morningstar-Shepherd" yup, I hyphenated. They all groan upset "do you know how? Because she teaches her interns, a big part of this is how well you teach your interns and not only are her interns learning but yours too since they go to her for advice-that is what put her over the top"

"I could have done that" Cristina complains "teach my interns"

"If you could then why aren't you?" She demands, she pulls out the sparkle pager "now congratulate Dr. Morningstar-Shepherd"

"Ooh! Shiny pager!" Izzie has her eyes on the pager.

"A sparkle pager" she corrects

"What's so great about the glitter pager?" Cristina demands

"Any surgery you have" I explain to them "will be paged to this pager, if I want the surgery you have to give it to me"

"She is right" Bailey confirms "this is surgery's holy grail, it's been passed down from resident to resident. Now it belongs to Dr. Morningstar-Shepherd" letting out a breath "why must you have a long name?" Shaking her head "for the next three months whenever you get a surgery you will page this pager and if Shepherd wants it she can take it"

After she leaves I ask Cristina since she needs this more than me "Mere? Cristina? Do you want this?"

"No!!" Izzie and Alex tries to cut me off as Cristina exclaims "Yes!"

"No" Meredith shakes her head "Cristina needs it more"

"Cristina?" She comes over and I hand it to her, right now I have an important decision to make. Child or no? Once I've changed into my I
clothes, I go to John who waits for me "I've thought about it and...how about next year? We spend the remainder of this year together, I'd rather not worry about residency, interns, a nightclub and a child"

He smiles "As long as I get to raise a child with you, of course"

"We can work on that new home" Nodding his head "but the waitlist I hear for adopting is long so let's be put on it"

"I love you so much" John says

"Not as much as I love you" kissing him briefly before we go to the elevators.
