Iyasu's arc!
Maybe it was because she knew the fight was over, the threat long gone. Nami was safe, she was free, and they were able to get her money back from the marines when Iyasu exposed her last name. Everything was going well, yet she couldn't smile. She tried, and faked it a lot but even so she couldn't manage to let out a laugh or a genuine grin. So she sat in the back of the party drowning out the laughter and buzzing from the crowd, in an attempt to not bring down the radiant energy of the townsfolk and crew. Maybe it was because she knew this would be her last moment with her new friends. Iyasu knew she wouldn't be joining them in their new adventures. Her father would endlessly push her to be the person she once was then she would have to serve a person deemed strong by the world. She frowned at the thought.
Selfishly she wished the crew would fight for her to come back. She desperately wanted to tell them the situation but she would never dare put them at risk like that. That would rage a war, the Kishi vs the small group of the strawhats. She knew her crew was strong but they weren't ready, not ready to take on the main branch, the 5 side branches, then the guards. It was too much, too much power. She silently cursed herself. She shouldn't have gotten attached. It was too good to be true, she should've known she wouldn't get to sail around doing whatever she wanted with no reparations. Not while being his daughter. It was her strong bloodline that cursed her. That trained her to be nothing more than a tamed pet, a weapon for others' disposal. 'All... for nothing at all.' she thought to herself. Why bother to fight to stay, was she even needed? was she serving any purpose by staying? Before Iyasu could stop herself, she drowned further down deep thoughts, sitting there with an unsettling look on her face. Paralyzed in fear of her intrusive thoughts.
"Oi."
She jumped, startled out of her thoughts. Releasing a relieved sigh, Iyasu looked up eager to see who scared her.
Before she stood Nami stood with an unreadable expression, "Nami?" The said girl bashfully looked at the ground. "I just wanted to say thanks. For fighting for me." Iyasu smiled, a true blissful smile overcoming her facial features. "Don't thank me for something like that. You and I are family now, and ill fight for you again and again." In a moment, Iyasu had stood and embraced Nami in a hug. Wrapping her arms around the shorter female she pulled her close, taking the moment to close her eyes while Nami reciprocated the hug by wrapping her own arms around Iyasus torso. Nami had assumed it was for her, but she was wrong. Iyasu used the chance to get some sort of comfort for the upcoming events. Encouragement in a way.
"Iyasu, I'm glad we're friends."
"Hey stop being so mushy and go party! I'm sure there are some people you wanna see right now," noticing Nami hesitate Iyasu gave her another grin, "go go!" she shooed playfully.
Nami turned and jogged away, missing the way the smile fell from Iyasu's face. Turning around, Iyasu took slow steps towards the forest, with each nearing step to her exit her hands shook for what was to come of her future. She hadn't been home in years. After her mother's death, she blamed her father and couldn't bear to go home and see his face or even tolerate any excuses he had. But now, she would have to go home and see not only him but all of her siblings. Iyasu frowned at the thought of her crazy childhood but didn't bother to run away again no matter how much she wanted to. She knew no matter where she went her father would find her.
This is why she stood in a large clearing of the forest and pushed her wings that laid dormant out with a sad grin. With one deep breath, she shot up in the sky and took off. Not daring to look back in fear of turning back around and running into the arms of her crew.
"Time to go home."
