51. Mesmerising.
"What happened bhai!?" Falak's voice brought him back from his thoughts.
"Umm nothing....I was thinking how would sweet chilli sauce taste when mixed with mustard sauce!?" He said looking at her straight faced. Ashraf just looked at him with a "you are unbelievable" look.
"What!? Ewww..... that seriously sounds horrifying." She scrunched her nose.
"We can always try it out you know." He said with an innocent look. Falak and Ashraf laughed at his words.
"Wajahat!!! You dumb blind idiot, you seriously don't realize how blessed and lucky you are." He thought to himself.
*******
Wajahat was busy with the architects at the site. He had explained his vision about the project well and had asked the architect's team to make a sample model of the work, he was beyond happy looking at it.
"That's one marvellous piece of work." Aarish whistled from behind.
"Isn't it!?" He smiled at him.
"Yeah." He said looking around. Wajahat's project was an extravagant 7 star hotel. Be was working on it from the past year. Luckily the work was done quite quick. It was a Persian themed hotel so he had named it "Castle".
At his one syllabi answer Wajahat turned towards him, he was busy looking at the work around but a small frown indicated he was deep in his thoughts.
"Are you okay??" Wajahat couldn't help but ask.
"Yes!! Yes , I am." He laughed a little.
"Can we talk!?" He asked smiling but still frowning. Wajahat nodded ag him.
"No point chasing around the Bush Wajahat, have you not accepted bhabhi!?" His look stated he was beyond serious.
"It's complicated." He huffed.
"No it's not..... the only thing complicated around here is you." He said biting the words.
"We might not always be available to knock some sense into that dumb head of yours Wajahat. It's high time you look around. Anyways I'm leaving to Mexico for a month."
" That's long!!"
"Yeah!!! I've haven't been receiving any proper updates from the past two weeks, so I thought I should see what's happening over there." A shrill beep sound echoed through out the hall, everyone turned towards them.
"What is that?" Asked an astonished Aarish, Wajahat was frantically searching for his mobile, which was the source of the noise.
"I can't believe it." He just huffed in annoyance. Bewildered Aarish raised his eye brows at him questioning what the actual matter was.
"It's a reminder."
"For?"
"For Dinner tonight, umm...... at my In-laws."
"What!? And since when did you start saving reminders for stuff like that!? As far as I reckon you were quite a punctual man." He couldn't help but laugh at his expressions.
"I still don't need them, it wasn't me who saved them." He gritted.
"Then!?"
"It must be Falak. Only she can save a reminder with the title "'DONT BE LATE'." Aarish couldn't stop from laughing out loud at his expressions.
"How did get my password!?" He mumbled to himself.
"Perfect." Said Aarish. Both came out of the building together with Aarish grinning and Wajahat muttering under his breath.
*******
He searched for Falak down but the whole floor was silent indicating that his parents might have already been left. He climbed the stairs still frowning.
He opened the slightly ajar door and stepped inside of his room, he was welcomed by the beautiful fragrant of fresh flowers. He moved his gaze towards the balcony door, it was locked. Usually, at this time of the evening he always found Falak there, seated in the swing she had now added in their balcony.
He removed his suit jacket and placed it on the arm rest of the couch. Moving forward he placed his laptop bag on one end of the couch and sat beside it. Resting his head back he closed his eyes.
"Assalamu alaikum." On hearing her voice he opened his eyes and saw her greet him with a soft smile.
"Walaikum Assalam." He muttered. He couldn't move his eyes off her. She looked so mesmerising he forgot to ask her about the reminder on his phone, dressed in mauve floor length georgette silk gown with copper work at the waist, neck and through out the sleeves as well the fabric was pleated and cinched at the waist giving it a soft crushed look, similar mauve dupatta pleated on one shoulder, she was truly an image of beauty inside out.
Falak was well aware of the heated gaze she was receiving from Wajahat, she felt her cheeks going warm and was sure that it might have turned pink by now and if this went on her cheeks will definitely turn into a deeper shade of red. So not to show that his gaze made her nervous she moved around the room, cleaning it as well. His gaze moved along with her.
"So.... umm... how was your day!?" Not able to handle his gaze anymore she spoke.
"Uh huh!!! What!?" He snapped out of his daze. He cleared his throat and mentally scolded himself.
"How was your day!?" She repeated.
"Yeah.. umm... it ... it was good!" He stuttered horribly. Then the question that he had been waiting to ask all day clicked. He narrowed his eyes at her.
"How did you figure out my password!?" He asked, his voice low. Which should have been intimidating but it had the opposite effect on her.
"It was cool right!?" She asked with a mischievous smile.
"How!?" He contained his astonishment.
"Welll..... I..... umm...... it's a secret. " she whispered the last part like it was a very important secret. This time he couldn't control his surprise, Falak broke into fits of laughter. Then again, he felt himself lost in her.
"Beautfiul." A mere whisper uncontrollably escaped his lips. Falak was still laughing hard she didn't hear him say that. He was shocked at his own thoughts.
"Astaghfirullah." He muttered to himself. His heart certainly did not like what he said right now.
"Dude, Astaghfirullah!? Like seriously!? She is your wife." His heart reminded him. Confused he stood from the couch and strode towards the closet to get ready for the event, by the next 20 mins he was ready.
It was half n hour past eight by the time they reached Murtaza Mansion. They both were rewarded with warm welcome by everyone.
"Dad and Ashraf uncle are in the study Wajahat, let's go there." Said Ateeb smiling at him, with a nod and a smile he followed him to the enormous study room which looked loaded with books from top to bottom.
"No doubt she knows so much about books." He thought to himself still gazing at the long shelf filled with books. Falak's habit of discussing book related stuffs to his dad wasn't certainly unnoticed by him. Ateeb caught sight of Wajahat looking at the shelf with disbelief.
"You know!!! 75% of books here are filled by Falak." Wajahat laughed a little at his words.
"My guess was right then, she does spend tremendous amount of time talking about books with dad. Most of the time I don't even know the topic they are talking about." His expression made Ateeb laugh.
The dinner went by with lots of conversations, teasings and boring business stuffs. Wajahat seemed to have no control over his eyes, every now and then they went back to his wife, which was certainly noticed each one of them.
Her parents who were once worried about their daughter's decision, their hearts could say only one word.
"Alhamdulillah."
