15. Ready But Not Ready
"I wonder how you don't have grey hairs!!" Wajahat frowned at Aarish's statement.
"Grey hairs!?"
"Yup! Grey hairs, the way you stare at the empty space ahead of you and zone out for matter of hours, I'm damn curious how you still don't have a single grey hair visible." Aarish said, tapping his index finger at the rim of his coffee cup. Both were enjoying a simple coffee at the nearest CCD.
"Buddy!! I stopped thinking a long time ago!" Wajahat said, with a sarcastic smile.
"Wajahat!! You... I...ahm... " Aarish mumbled, not knowing what to say. Wajahat smiled at him.
"I'm ready Aarish!" Aarish gaped at him.
"What?" He asked in a voice which was nothing more than a mere whisper.
"I'm ready Aarish.!" He said with a blank face. Aarish looked at his eyes, it certainly did not seem like he was ready.
"Are you serious?" Wajahat looked at him silently not answering his question.
"Wajahat..... this is for you to...." Aarish was cut off mid sentence.
"Not a word more Aarish!" He said with a hard look.
"You might just start saying that this is for me!! A good decision for my future! But Mr. Aarish Bilal, my future was ruined the day when I saw her draped in a shroud. I saw my life drape in a shroud Aarish." Within seconds his eyes were filled with unshed tears.
"It's impossible Aarish, it's impossible for me to accept someone else in my life when I all but dreamed about her and how beautiful my future would be with her every time I closed my eyes." Aarish felt himself hollow at his words.
"You're not the only one Wajahat! You think you saw your life draped in shroud!! But I was the one who carried her to the cemetery and I was the one...." Aarish looked outside the glass wall towards the road full of traffic.
"Look out there Wajahat! The people out there. Each one has a painful life, nobody has their lives served on a golden platter, each one will have their own agonising story! But still, they move on, they choose to move on with a happy, professional face, so that nobody knows how hollow they are down under their souls. But! It doesn't mean we have to remain our fake faces for the rest of our lives! For the almighty never truly burdens a soul beyond its strength. Life will definitely take a new route. We can not stay at the same page of our life forever like rust! I'm happy that you have finally decided to take the most important decision of your life. One which I'm damn sure, will be the best decision of your life." Aarish said looking at Wajahat.
"Uhm..." Wajahat cleared his throat.
"There is something I actually wanted to discuss with you.!"
"Hmm hmm." Aarish signalled him to continue by humming like lisa. Wajahat narrowed his eyes at him.
"You'll never........ just forget It!" Wajahat huffed. Aarish laughed at his reaction.
"I love watching that expression!" Aarish said still laughing. Lisa was one of the workers in Ardour! She had a huge crush on Wajahat. And by huge it was seriously huge. She was interviewed as his PA. But Wajahat had sensed her behaviour inappropriate, but she did have interesting grades so he just assigned her to a different position and chose a young guy named Samuel Gabriel as his PA. He was a second year college student.
But that just wasn't a solution sometimes, whenever Wajahat was there in Leeds for his monthly meetings with the staff, Lisa would just keep humming on his orders and approvals. He found it so irritating and embarrassing. Aarish had accompanied him a few times, and thus whenever he wanted to tease him he used the same humming tune.
"You were saying!?"
"I'm planning to launch ARDOUR here!" Wajahat said with determination.
"You think it'll work!?" He asked unsure.
"It worked where it was almost impossible."
"This is India buddy! We can't find that much of architecture here... besides...."
"Its not going to be based on architecture Aarish!"
"Then?"
"It'll be about everything!... interior designing, fashion designing, paint articrafts, jewellery designing... how many companies hire them without asking about their previous jobs, how many companies hire People who are fresh out of college. The biggest industries, which makes the headlines in today's newspaper states that it needs only professional to work under its wings. Ardour will have no such rule. It is gonna be a ground for everyone to discover themselves, to discover what truly lies beyond their imagination!" He said with determination.
Aarish smiled at the enthusiasm his friend has towards the world and it's people, he missed the old Wajahat. One who used to be lively. There was still a part of him alive but he wanted to see his eyes full of life once again.
"May Allah bless you with all the happiness bro." He smiled thinking.
