THIRD PERSON

"Krrish, I have something really important to tell you "

Ankita finally spat out after taking a long breathe out of nervousness.Krrish had been observing her behavior for the past few minutes and was curious to know about her changed and peculiar behaviour. They were seated across each other in the cafe where Ankita had urged him to meet with him.

"Yes Ankita, I am also waiting for that moment. You are constantly fiddling with your fingers for the last half an hour almost. We have come in this cafe for discussing something important. But just look at your face. You are literally zoning out.Come on, tell me what has happened? Is anything wrong? Are you fine?" He furrowed his brows.

She was very tensed and worried about how she would reveal such a big matter to him whose mind was already clouded with sadness for his mother's recent death. Nevertheless she had to spend the truth at any cost as it was the matter of her life and his too. She couldn't risk anything by hiding such a thing which would cause his heart to break. Though she knew that it would surely make him to break apart after listening this confession ,she would do it for the sake of her, him, Ruhi, his mother, Ruhi's grandmother, Manav and lastly her and Manav's parents.Krrish had already told her about his mother's last wish and how much he was depressed to take any certain decision right now.

But she knew that it was better for him to accept the alliance made by his mother. He really couldn't get any better partner than Ruhi. Along with it with her family pressure and the growing feelings towards Manav, she had to break up before anything would go in misleading way.

"Krrish, I am breaking up with you right now.It is over now."

With a lot of courage, she finally mentioned these words with her eyes firmly fixed on him. His confusion was replaced with a look of astonishment as he stared at her, trying to figure out whether she was playing any prank on him.She exhaled a breath and swallowed down her nervousness.

"I know that it's not right but we have to move on Krrish. My parents and Manav's parents both have decided to get us married."  Krrish's eyes widened and rage surged within him after hearing her statement.

"What? Are you kidding me? What the hell are you speaking, Ankita?" He yelled hitting his palm on the surface of the table snatching others' attention.

"Krrish, calm down. Everyone is watching us."

She expressed while looking here and there. Krrish noticed it and inhaled a deep breathe.

"I am sorry Krrish but it will be good for all of us.Your mother's last wish was to see you married with Ruhi. And it's very important to keep her last wish. We cannot just throw away the last wish of a person who has died already especially when she is your mother. Besides, I don't want to go against my family either." Krrish scoffed at her last sentence.

"Fine. I accepted that it would be good for all of us. What about our love?Is this the end of our love? We have been together for years and you are saying that we have to move on. How can you do so Ankita?"

"Look Krrish, I don't know but we have to compromise something in order to make things better. It's for the sake of our family. We can't upset them because they are very much important." She tried to point out. Even though she knew that she had done wrong by going behind Krrish and seeing Manav, she wanted to make things right.

"Well, you are marring Manav. Tell me just one thing. Do you even love him or like him?" Ankita hesitated at first but she couldn't choose to lie anymore.

"To be honest, I have actually developed some feelings for him after spending few times with him." She hesitatedly replied, her voice wavering in shame. Krrish sat there immobile. He couldn't believe that the girl whom he had been in a relationship for more than five years was now betraying him and had gone to seek solace from his best friend's arms when he was going through such a hard phase of his life.

"You are a vile disgusting woman." He spelled out , emphasizing on every words with his eyes filled with hurt and anger. She soon placed her hands on his hands.

"Yes, we both are meeting almost after two months. My parents have made this decision of mine and Manav's marriage before a long time but I and Manav both didn't know about it. We came to know about it when we finished our college. Then I told them that I loved you. But they insisted me to get married to Manav. Same has happened with Manav also. He also refused to marry me but his parents also wanted him to get married to me. Then to keep their words, they told us to spend some times together. They told us if we somehow would develop feelings for each other, then they would get us married. They also said if I couldn't love Manav ,then they would surely consider my relationship with you.

We both agreed and started dating each other secretly. He never meant to go on your back but we did it because we never thought that it could have happened. And yesI have now started liking him more than a friend." She explained, her voice void of guilt.

"Wow! Wow! What a great love story! I really appreciate you,Miss Ankita. You came out to be extremely ungrateful, cheater and backstabbing person."

Krrish sarcastically said while clapping his hands. Hurt was visible on his eyes as he tried to hold back the tears which were ready to fall any moment. Ankita closed her eyes tightly for his sarcastic compliment.

"Enough of it's enough, Krrish. What do you think yourself ? It's my choice whom I will marry. You cannot make fun of everything." She almost raised her voice, glaring at him.

"Then what about me ? What did you do with me ? You ditched me with my best friend.You betrayed me. You played with my feelings and now you are going to marry my only friend who has also betrayed me." He also shouted while standing up from his seat.

"Look Krrish, our love was not true. It was kind of infatuation. But the feeling which I have felt towards Manav is true. And I have understood it now. I love Manav. I can't help for it. If our love was pure then I would have never fallen in love with Manav. He also loves me now.You have to move on Krrish. That's it." She finished her words with a normal tone. She was feeling extremely guilty but she couldn't ignore her true feelings. She couldn't hurt anyone.

"Amazing! It was infatuation! We have never loved each other ! For the last 5 years, we were in relationship and now you broke it like an old toy. Congratulations for being absolutely the best." He sniffled, his eyes turning red with tears. Ankita noticed his situation and she immediately got up from her seat to engulf him in a hug when he too hugged her back, breaking down finally.

"Yes, it's true Krrish. I am sure that you will also find your true love oneday just like me. Now I am ending everything here. Goodbye and stay well. "

She whispered before breaking the hug. Without further words, she left from there when he stood there blankly looking at the floor. Uncontrollable tears were falling from his eyes.

From that day, he always wanted to avoide them and made sure to steer away from them as they reminded him of the pain of betrayal and heartbreak he had to suffer because of them.

Recollecting about that , he felt disgusted now. He didn't hate them but he didn't want to unite with them either. He was thinking all of those bad memories while sitting on the couch of their balcony. He snapped back to reality when a pair of arms circled around his neck and he felt a light weight on his chest. He looked at the direction to Ruhi sitting beside him with her body pressed on to him.

Her presence was enough to comfort him. He could not even think about getting angry with her. Even though she had attempted to bring some old wounds back, he still couldn't bring himself in a place to feel upset and angry with her. This is how much whipped he had become with the love of her. He knew that Ruhi was very innocent and she always wanted the best for everyone.

"Why did you do it?" He whispered slowly, his stare fixed on the sky. Ruhi felt a surge of relief washing over her when she heard his soft and lower tone. He was not angry. She concluded in her mind.

"Krrish, I want you to reunite with Manav again. He is your best friend."

Ruhi did not fail to notice that a flicker of emotion crossing on his face before he stood up from the couch and went inside the room. She followed him like a lost puppy.

"No,no ,no,he is not my best friend anymore. He is no one to me." He mumbled shaking his head negatively. She kept her hand on his shoulder and made him to face her.

"You can't deny the fact that you still don't hate him.He is your true friend."

He felt a knot in his stomach reminding about their childhood memories. He recalled how they used to play together ,how they used to steal fruits from their neighbor's house, how they both always used to sit together in the school, how they used to snatch each other's tiffin, how they used to bunk classes together and how they used to spend their times on cracking jokes and cycling etc. His lips curved in a beautiful smile but it soon vanished to remember about the betrayal of him.

"I know that oneday, you will again accept him as your best friend again.Just trust me."

He did not want to spoil the hopes of Ruhi right now as mental stress could affect her badly which he didn't want at all. He hugged her taking the comfort from her when she too wrapped her hands around his neck.

"I love you, Krrish."

"I love you, baby."

He said before kissing on her forehead.
