15 ➵ The gift and the visit

It was a fine sunny morning in guwahati Assam, riyan was out for a walk while Shri stayed home with mithoo

Mithoo: Shri, beta, come here for a moment

Mithoo said, her eyes sparkling with excitement.

Shri looked around curiously, wondering what was going on.

Shri: han muma bolo

she asked, walking towards Mithoo.

Mithoo led Shri to the bedroom and took something out of her closet. She returned with a beautiful, intricately woven Assamese saree draped over her arm.

Mithoo: I have something special for you,

she said, her voice full of warmth.

Shri's eyes widened as she took in the sight of the saree.

Shri: muma ye to bohot Sundar hai

she exclaimed.

Mithoo: beta It's a traditional Assamese mekhla it's like a saree, passed down from my mother and grandmother. Aur ab tumhari baari hai isse rakhne ki , Shri Mera ek lauta beta hai riyan , lekin ab tum b beti jesi hi ho mere lia

Shri could feel the emotion in her voice which made her tear up

She hugged mithoo for the sweet gesture

Mithoo: beta tum ek baar isko pehen ke dikhao kesi lag rhi ho

Shri: pr muma vo mujhe Assamese style me saree drape karna nhi aata

Mithoo: koi baat ni beta Mai help karti hu , Aaj riyan ko surprise denge , tumko Assamese attire me dekh k bohot khush ho jaega

Mithoo smiled as she led Shri to the bedroom, the saree carefully draped over her arm.

Mithoo: Okay, beta, now it's time for me to teach you how to wear this beautiful saree

she said, her eyes sparkling with excitement.

Shri looked a bit nervous, but Mithoo reassured her with a gentle touch on her arm.

Mithoo: Don't worry beta , mai sikhaungi na . It's a bit tricky at first, lekin ek baar seekh gyi to dheere dheere pro ban jaogi

Mithoo began by wrapping the mekhla  around Shri's waist, folding the end of the saree into a neat triangle.

Mithoo: phle hm esse pleates banaenge

she said, demonstrating the technique. Shri watched intently as Mithoo expertly folded and pleated the fabric.

Shri tried to mimic Mithoo's movements, but it was clear that she was struggling to get the folds just right. Mithoo chuckled and gently took Shri's hands in hers.

Mithoo: Let me show you again, beta

she said.

Together, they worked on creating the perfect pleats, Mithoo offering words of encouragement and guidance as Shri tried to master the technique. Finally, after a few attempts, Shri got it just right. Mithoo beamed with pride as she admired Shri's work

As they finished up the mekhla, Mithoo stepped back to admire Shri's reflection in the mirror.

Mithoo: You look stunning, beta

she exclaimed

Mithoo hugged Shri tightly.

Mithoo: You're part of our family now, beta and I am so glad ki hum ye moment sath me share kar paye

As they hugged, Shri felt like she had found a new sense of belonging in Riyan's family. And she knew that this saree would always be a reminder of the special bond they shared - a bond that was rooted in love, acceptance, and tradition.

Riyan walked into the house, exhausted from his morning run. He was sweaty and tired, and all he wanted to do was collapse onto the couch and grab a glass of water. As he made his way to the living room, he noticed that Mithoo was sitting on the couch, looking pleased with herself

Mithoo: are beta tum aa gye

She exclaimed, noticing Riyan's entrance

Mithoo: And just in time for a surprise!

Riyan raised an eyebrow, feeling a bit wary.

Riyan: kesa surprise muma ?

he asked, walking over to the couch.

Mithoo's eyes twinkled with mischief. Mithoo: just hold your heart for a moment

She said, holding up her hand

Riyan hesitated for a moment, but Mithoo's excitement made him give in. He took a deep breath and placed his hand on his chest, feeling a bit silly.

Just as he was about to ask what was going on, Shri walked into the room, looking stunning in a beautiful Assamese mekhla . The vibrant colors and intricate patterns seemed to dance across the fabric as she moved towards Riyan.

Riyan's eyes widened as he took in the sight of Shri in the saree. He felt like he had been punched in the stomach - it was as if he had never seen her before, his heart racing with excitement.

Riyan: Shri tum...you look..

Riyan trailed off, unable to find the words.

Shri smiled shyly, her eyes shining with happiness.

Shri: Thank you, Muma

she said, her voice barely above a whisper.

Riyan stumbled forward, feeling like he was moving in slow motion. He reached out and took Shri's hands in his, pulling her closer to him.

Riyan: muma you did this?

he asked, his voice filled with wonder.

Mithoo beamed with pride.

Mithoo: Of course, beta mai tum dono ko surprise dena chahti thi and now that Shri is wearing this beautiful mekhla, you can see how lovely she looks

Riyan looked at Shri again, taking in the way the mekhla seemed to accentuate her features. He felt like he was falling in love all over again - with her beauty and her kindness

Riyan pulled Shri even closer to him and looked into her eyes almost drowing in them , that was until he heard his mother cough

Mithoo: are mere samne hi start ho gye , thoda control beta

She said teasingly

Shri blushed with embarrassment

As mithoo left the room shri focused back to riyan whose eyes never left her face

Riyan: god ! You are beautiful

But before Shri could say anything, riyan pressed his lips against hers making her melt into the kiss , her life has never been better ..

Later that day

Mithoo: beta Shri aur riyan , mai chahti hu ki tum dono Aaj Sri umananda temple jao

Riyan: kyu muma

Mithoo: vo shiv ji ka mandir hai and it has stunning views of the river. But more importantly, it's a symbol of unity and devotion. Mai chahti hu ki tum dono is beauty or energy ko sath me experience karo

Shri: okay muma we'll go

After breakfast, they set off towards the Sri Umananda Temple, which was located on Peacock Island in the Brahmaputra River. As they walked along the riverbank, the sun began to rise, casting a golden glow over the landscape. The air was crisp and fresh, filled with the sweet scent of blooming flowers and the gentle lapping of the river against the shore.

As they reached the island, they were struck by its natural beauty. The island was covered in lush greenery, with towering trees and colorful flowers everywhere. The sound of birds chirping and monkeys chattering filled the air.

The temple itself was a stunning sight, with its intricately carved stone walls and ornate statues of Lord Shiv and Goddess Parvati

Riyan and Shri couldn't help but feel a sense of awe as they walked around the temple complex

After their prayers togather, they sat on the steps outside the temple

Riyan and Shri exchanged a tender glance, feeling grateful for this special moment together. As they sat there, taking in the beauty of the temple and the river, they felt a deep sense of connection and unity

This is what Shri has always craved from love , a sense of sincerity and respect, and riyan has always shown her that

By the time that they left the temple it was already evening

As the sun began to set in the horizon, Riyan and Shri found themselves sitting on the shore of the Brahmaputra River, watching the sky turn into a range of colors from pink to blue to red to purple reflected in the sky . The temple visit had left them feeling refreshed , and now they were enjoying the serene atmosphere of the riverbank.

Riyan and Shri sat together, their legs intertwined, as they gazed out at the majestic view.

Riyan: beautiful isn't it?

Shri turned to him, her eyes sparkling with wonder.

Shri: It's breathtaking. Maine essa kuch Aaj tk ni dekha

As they sat there, watching the sun dip below the horizon, they felt a sense of peace and contentment wash over them.

Without saying a word, Riyan reached out and gently brushed a strand of hair behind Shri's ear. She felt a shiver run down her spine as she turned to him, her eyes locking onto his.

Riyan: I love you

He whispered, his voice barely audible over the sound of the river.

Shri's heart skipped a beat as she smiled softly.

Shri: i love you too

The sun dipped lower in the horizon, casting a golden glow over the river and the surrounding landscape. Riyan and Shri sat there, lost in their own little world, as the stars began to twinkle in the sky above.

In this moment, they knew that their love was infinite, and that nothing could ever tear them apart. Not even the universe.....or can it ?
