As Meghan talked to a fellow lawyer a few yards away from where I was sitting, my feet tapped loudly against the floor as I waited and waiting impatiently for a judge that presided over Titus' and my case to be ready to hear it.

I could hear the hearty laugh that Meghan released as she threw her head backwards at something that the gentleman said, a hand coming up to caress his arm. I couldn't help but to smile at the subtle gesture of flirting.

Well, at least she was relaxed. I suppose that made me feel a bit better.

Meghan had went over everything that should occur today with me in the parking lot.

Enrique had called me once since then to let me know that he had made it home and to tell me to relax and that everything was going to be okay.

I jumped when the court doors opened and a man came out who I assumed to be the court clerk. My heart rang in my ears when I heard him call our names, including Titus'. It was only then that I looked around, just in time to see an old man walk up the stairs, a complete head of grey hair, followed my a much taller man.

When the latter turned to his left to walk in our direction, I felt my breathing falter for just a moment when I saw the nice three-piece suit on Titus' body as he strut towards us. He had almost completely shaved off all of his beard so that only a little stubble was left; this I could see even from how far apart we still were.

With his hand in his pocket and piercing blue eyes, he looked straight ahead of him, ignoring everything and everyone around him— until he reached right in front of me, so close that I could smell his usual cologne.

He stood there for a while, not even glancing down at me from his standing and my sitting position. He waited until the man, who was in front of him when they walked up the steps, but was now trailing behind him, who I also assumed to be his lawyer, urged him into the room when the door was held open wide enough.

I squinted my eyes as I watched him disappear into the large room. I looked down at my hands that were trembling a bit, using my left to hold over my right so that I could control it a bit, which it seemed to help for the time being.

I looked up just in time to see Meghan making her way over to me. "You ready?" She asks me, but I assume it was more of a rhetorical question anyways, because she was already grabbing my bag to help me to stand quicker. She was obviously eager, and maybe a bit excited.

I still answered nonetheless, "Not like I have a choice," I murmur.

"Well, actually you do," She counters. "You could leave but the results wouldn't exactly be in your favour."

I don't comment. Instead, I swallow the saliva in my throat before blowing a puff of air through my mouth.

When I walked through the door, it was as if a large flash of white appeared and transported me into the a new realm, one filled with rows of benches and a large open space.

The courtroom appeared to be a spacious, well-lit area with high ceilings and wooden paneling. At the front of the room was an elevated platform where the judge's bench is situated.

On one side of the courtroom, there were chairs where Titus and his lawyer currently were, while on the opposite side, there were chairs that I assumed was for Meghan and I, judging from how she was walking towards them.

It took about about just a few moments short of six or seven minutes,  I'd approximate, before the Judge entered the room. During those minutes, I sat with my head straight ahead, only looking momentarily between Meghan's rants and explanations to me so that she didn't think that I was ignoring her.

I tried my best, and succeeded, at not even glancing at the man a good few fee perpendicular to me.

The count clerk stood tall as he bellowed in still what was a calming voice although loud, "All rise. The Honorable Judge Smith presiding." We all stood at once as the clerk went over to the Judge and gave him an envelope, softly telling him the case number and name over which he was presiding.

"Thank you," He replied. Judge Smith was, what I imagined, to be pretty young for a Judge. He looked to possible be in his early forties, but the only evidence that made me come to the conclusion was  the faint smile lines on his cheeks and forehead, thus giving away his age.

"Good morning. You may be seated. We are here today for the divorce case of Mr. Sievers versus Mrs. Sievers. I see you both have council. Very well. Can both parties or their representatives identify themselves for the record?"

Meghan speaks up for me, "Meghan Solace representing Demiah Sievers."

Instead of his lawyer, I almost jump when I hear Titus' voice, "Titus Sievers represented by Neil Jackman."

"Okay, is there anyone else here representing either party, such as witnesses or family members?" Both parties remained silent which gave the Judge his answer. "Very well, let's move along quickly, I have a lot to do today." He pauses as he opens up a file. "So I read both of your files. This seems like a fairly simple case so there isn't much to do today now, is there?

"I believe as long as Mr. Jackman and Mr. Sievers cooperates, there's no reason why we should waste your time, Judge." Meghan stands and speaks out.

"Excellent," He slams the file shut rather loudly. "Now, as we move forward, are there any temporary matters that need immediate attention, such as spousal support or property arrangements?"

"Your Honour, I've made a request on temporary spousal support for my client, and she has decided to without any claims to may have to properties." Meghan speaks loudly and clearly.

"Your Honour. we will review the request and respond accordingly." Now it is Mr. Jackman who rose from his seat and spoke.

Meghan opened her mouth before he even finished his sentence; he was only half way back to sitting down before he stood again, "Your Honour, I urge Mr. Jackman to make haste in his reviewing as my client has withdrawn her rights, a hefty amount at that— on shares to the property and therefore this should be a cut and dry case.

"Need I remind Miss Solace the status of my client and why moving forward with discretion is necessary to protect his best interests—" Although he was at the end of his statement, while I observed him, I noticed the slight tap on his arm that Titus gave him. With this, he looked over at both of us before sitting down.

Meghan and I exchanged looks at the same time.

The Judge watches the exchange before sitting up straighter in his large seat, "Very well, then. Please ensure that all necessary documents are exchanged between the parties as part of the discovery process. We'll schedule the next hearing to discuss the timeline for the case and address any outstanding matters."

The Judge pauses for a moment before continuing.

"Is there anything else we need to address at this time?"

Meghan shakes her head, and Titus' attorney does the same, "Not at this time, Your Honour." Mr. Jackman stresses before glaring at Meghan.

"Alright then. If that is so, this hearing is adjourned until..." He looks to his left at something stuck to the bench on the table in front of him. From the way his finger was roaming and the start of his sentence, a good assumption was that he was looking at a calendar. "Is August 29th fine for everyone?"

He received no objections.

"Very well," He repeat once more. Everyone in the courtroom stands as the judge leaves the bench. The court clerk gives instructions on exiting the courtroom, and the parties and their representatives proceed accordingly.

Meghan packs her back as she leaves the court room, looking in the direction of Mr. Jackman as he walks towards us once we were outside, Titus no where in sight.

"That went well, I'd say," Meghan looks at me and murmurs briefly.

When Mr. Jackman stands in front of us, Meghan zips her bag and smiles a taunting smile at him, "I suggest you not waste my time, and give my client what's rightfully hers, Mr. Jackman. We're being very lenient, are we not?"

Mr. Jackman lets out a sarcastic and amused scoff, "This isn't a criminal case, Meghan. no need to get so riled up. Maybe you should go back to what you're good at."

"Oh, we're on a first name basis now, correct? I'm flattered."

With a roll of his eyes, he sakes his head and moves to walk around us. However, his eyes finally settle on me for a split second of acknowledgement before he walks away.

I didn't sense any malice or threat in his stare, no matter how short it may be, but knowing that he was Titus' lawyer, I decided not to depend on simple stares.

"Come on, Demiah, let's go. Enrique keeps blowing up my phone, pretty sure I'm not supposed to tell you that," She smiles teasingly at me.

I return her smile as we walk out of the court house.
