Chapter Five – Ruby

“The-they won't stop, they'll never stop Dan, they won't leave me alone!” Charlie whimpers into my shoulder as I hold him his head in my shoulder blade.

I felt tears dampening my shirt and I pulled away to wipe his tears away.

“I'll be there as much as possible, I don't care if they all want to fight me, I'll stand in front of you, you're apart of my family now. Please don't cry,” I pleaded and he sniffles, I bring him back into my arms.

“All of those rumors are going to be gone by tomorrow, I'll make sure of it,” I whisper in his ears and he pulls away.

“Please don't, I don't want them to start rumors about you, please...” He pleaded with me and I sighed.

“Charlie, listen to me, I know you think I can't handle then, I know you think they're stronger than me, but they really aren't. They act bigger and stronger, when really, they're wimpy and just plain cowards–” I tried but he only stopped me.

“No, I said this already. I don't want you to get hurt!”

“I can't just let them hurt you, let me help you!” 

“They don't think you're a boy, they just see a girl okay?! They'll make me feel worse if you do this!” He screamed at me and I stopped his eyes were filled with hate and I just couldn't stand it.

“You think.... You don't want help because... They think I'm a girl...” I sighed and tears ran down my face.

“I really thought that apology was real, I thought you didn't mean it...” I let the tears run down my face, Charlie wouldn't look at me. Just at his shoes.

“I thought we were friends!” I yelled and his shoulders fell.

“I'm sorry, I–” I cut him off.

“That sounds familiar, Charlie, I can't even trust you anymore..” Tears traced my cheeks and my fists balled up.

“Goodbye, ” I left and he looked up to see me leave his feet seemed to have been planted to the floor.

I ran away from him, not home, that was the direction his feet were planted on.

I grabbed my phone and called Ruby, I needed her before I broke down then and there.

“Aye! Whats that matter did Charlie break up with you?!” A familiar annoying voice spat and I turned my head to look him up and down.

I whipped my tears, feeling embarrassed that I was crying in front of David and he's stupid ‘squad’.

“We weren't even dating in the first place Figgins! Go home and fuck yourself, you nosy piece of shit,” I yelled and I dialed her phone number again.

“What did you say to me? If anything you should go back from the hole you came from! All you are is a bitch, that's what everyone calls you, behind your back!” His words stung but I shook them off. They didn't mean shit to me, it wasn't like all he says is true.

“Uh huh, you're just mad I beat your ass yesterday, if anything you should just take your head from your ass. Its not a hat,” I shouted back and the phone answered.

“Sorry what?” Ruby asked and I face palmed.

“Sorry, can I come over to your house?” I asked and the guys shifted uneasily as if I was for telling what they'd be in the future.

“Yeah sure, its on Hyper-dash street, 1123, I'll see you there,” She chirped and I put my phone in my pocket.

“So I kinda have to go, so if you guys wouldn't mind, um I don't know. Getting  out of the way?” I asked blankly with my arms crossed.

“Uh. No, you're seriously going to pay, I got suspended because of you,” He growled and I raiser an eyebrow.

“I just saw you coming off the bus, you can't act like I didn't, I was there,” I smugly answered and shoved a guy out of my way, so I could walk over to Ruby's house.

“Why are you walking away, you scared?” He asked and his friends laughed.

“Uh, huh, I'm so scared of what you'll do to me cause your so much more stronger than I am, yeah. Now, go back to kindergarten and learn how to respect others,” I flipped him off and walked off, they didn't laugh, move or speak.

They just stood there as I walked off.

I knocked on the door  twice, until I realized there was a doorbell. I face palmed and rang the bell, a few seconds later Ruby came out her brown hair in curls and makeup done to its fullest.

“Damn, what are you up to?” I smirked and she shrugged.

“I got bored, I was doing my sisters makeup, you wanna come in, make popcorn and go to my room?” She asked and I smiled at her, thanked her before going into her kitchen.

“Hey Ruby you know where the popcorn is–” A built, handsome guy, that slightly resembled Ruby's, walked into the kitchen.

“The popcorn is right over there,” He pointed at a shelf and I grabbed the box of popcorn.

“Thanks...” I really wanted to know his name, I had to match a name to his face.

“Rowan, me and Ruby are twins, so you can guess, I'm gay, very gay so–” I stopped him at that.

“Do you happen to be taken?” I asked and he scrunched up his face.

“No but I literally just told I'm gay–”

“Uh huh and I'm ‘Very’ transgender, so here's my phone number,” I scratched it on a sheet of paper and as soon as I gave it to him. The microwave dinged.

“I guess that's my cue, see you around, ” I winked at him and he was left awestruck at my confidence that I took straight out of my ass.

I walked upstairs contemplating on life when I got a text message.

So you're a dude?

I huffed and rolled my eyes.

Yeah, I just haven't came out yet, I have two days until I do so, maybe I'll be able to transition then. Idk.

My mom wants me to be more feminine than I am, and I don't think she'll like that I'm trying to transition into a guy

I walked up the rest of the stairs quickly and yelled for Ruby.

“In here!” She shouted from a blue door, I walked in with a bowl full of popcorn in my hands to see her preparing a movie for the two of us.

“Thanks for having me over,” I told her and she shrugged like it was nothing. I handed her the popcorn and she took a handful.

“No I'm serious, this was so last minute,” I told her and she shrugged again.

“Its not a problem, really, but why'd you ask to come over?” She asked and I rubbed my arms.

“Something happened. What happened?” She asked anxiously and I sighed as I sat on her bed.

“Well, Charlie... He can't grasp that I'm a guy... I'm just a dumb girl in his eyes,” I form out as tears brimmed my eyes and I whipped them away.

“And.. He didn't deny any thing I had said... I'm just a weak... stupid girl in his eyes,” I chocked and I sobbed into my hands.

Ruby ran over to me and held me close to her, “You know you're not,” She said softly and I leaned my head on her shoulder.

“Yeah, its just, will everyone see me like that when I come out? I just... I'm scared Ruby,” I let out and she whipped my tears away.

“Don't let them get to your head, you're not a weak stupid girl, and if anyone is stupid enough to belief that, than they're stuck with ignorance. And its not bliss,” Ruby said and I smiled at her.

“Thanks, and it really sucks you're a lesbian, I'd totally date you,” I laughed and she blushed.

“Thanks, what movie do you want to watch?” She asked and I shrugged knowing all to well she's trying to change the subject.

“What is there?” I asked with a shrug and she grabbed a box on the ground, heaving it up.

Every Disney movie known to man, was piled in that box. I screamed.

“What!? What is there a spider?!” Ruby screamed and I laughed, picking up my all time favorite movie. Mulan.

“Sorry its just my favorite movie!” I squealed, I realized what I was doing and coughed.

“I mean, you wanna watch Mulan?” I asked and she laughed at me, but nodded.

“Lets just watch the movie, ” I groaned as she laughed, while pressing the play button.

She leaned back on the bed and we watched the movie, laughing at musho, the tiny dragon's, remarks.
