(Sam's P.O.V)

A few weeks had passed, and I still wasn't okay. Instead of going to school, I sobbed. I would think about what I could've done to stop it from happening. Every once and awhile, I would get dressed for school, make breakfast, and right as I'm about to step out the door, I change my mind.

No matter how many times Taurtis told me that there was nothing I could do, I kept finding a reason to blame myself.

I sat with my back against the wall, holding the ultrasound picture I had gotten. No matter how much I tried, I couldn't get rid of it. I've tried to rip it up and throw it away, but I never could, I didn't want to forget about the life that was growing inside me.

Tears slowly fell down from my eyes as I stared at the picture. Every so often, I would sniffle.

I heard the front door open, along with the sound of footsteps.

"I'm home!" Taurtis yelled from the door.

I glanced up, seeing him place down his backpack next to the couch. He walked over to where I was sitting and sat down next to me. Placing his arm around me, pulling me closer. I rested my head on his shoulder, his head resting on mine.

We sat like this for awhile, neither of us said a word. I took this time to notice that the house looked sad itself. The lights were all off, the light from the outside world barely making any difference. The house almost appeared empty, like no one lived there. As if the usually happy people that lived inside had decided to move.

It almost made my mad, realizing that I can always have another baby. It won't be the same, but I did only have this one for 9 weeks. I had to move on, I refuse to be like this. How was I supposed to fight in a battle of I couldn't even get over this? How would I expect to get over the death of a comrade if I couldn't forget someone I only knew for 9 weeks, even if it wasn't the same.

A the first step to getting everything back to the way they were, was to get rid of this picture. I stood up. Taurtis looked at me a little surprised, since usually, he had to carry me if he wanted me to do anything. I looked at the picture in my hand. I walked over to the kitchen counter and placed in down. It was step, I hadn't let go of the picture in a long time.

Taurtis walked up next to me, he hands in his pockets.

"Taurtis, can you do me a favor?" I asked.

"Anything," He answered.

"I need you to throw away the picture," I said as I walked into the kitchen.

"Will that help you move on?" Taurtis asked.

"Yes," I said as I leaned up against the refrigerator.

Taurtis picked up the picture. He walked over to the trash can, opening it and putting his hand over it. He was about to drop it in, but stopped.

He sighed, closing the trash can. He looked at the picture and then turned to me.

"I'm sorry Sam. I can't do it," He said.

"So we both can't let it go. What do we do now?" I said.

"Follow me," Taurtis walked up the stairs.

I followed him up to our room, closing the door behind us. Taurtis grabbed one of my memory boxes, opening it up and placing the picture inside. He resealed the box and placed it back with the others.

"Somethings can't be forgotten, right. You can only become stronger because of it," He walked back over to me.

"But now what? I'll always know it's there."

"And? If I had thrown it away, you would have looked to the ended of the Earth to find it. Now you know where it is, and you can relax, knowing that it's safe and sound."

"I guess that could work," I shifted my feet.

"Come on, I haven't seen your smile in weeks. Where has it been hiding?" He smiled at me.

A smile tugged at the corners of my mouth, "You're an idiot."

"I know I am, but I also know you like it," He pokes at my sides.

I giggled. Healing is something we all have to do sometimes. At least I know, I'll always have Taurtis and my friends to pick me back up again.
