He's My Dork {18}

                                                                                ***Collie’s POV***

Misha was breathing softly next to me, fast asleep. I had woken up three hours ago, unable to go back to sleep. Misha had been passed out next to me, his arms loosely around my body.

I had my head on his shoulder, staring up at his blank ceiling. I had pulled my shirt off about an hour ago, so our bare skin pressed together.

My mind was racing with thoughts about today. I would stick with Colin afterschool, and go right to TJ’s Apparel so that I could keep an eye on Misha. He had work tonight from noon to five, so I could walk him out of the store and make sure he got home safe.

Misha moaned and shifted, his grip on me tightening. I gulped and bit my lip, knowing I didn’t deserve someone like Misha when I couldn’t even keep him safe.

Misha’s eyes cracked open and he regarded me sleepily. “Hey Collie. What are you doing up?” he asked, his voice a tired mumble.

“I passed out early, remember?” I kissed the tip of his nose.

“Oh yea. You fell asleep in my lap. You used to yell at me for napping, but now you’re the one doing it,” he said, his mouth tugging up into a smile.

“Somehow when I fall asleep with you fully clothed, I wake up to you being in just your boxers,” I pointed out.

He blushed and kissed my neck. “Hey, if I recall, you were wearing a shirt when I fell asleep.”

His lips moved down from my neck, kissing my shoulder. I tilted his head up, kissing his lips deeply, wanting him to know how much I cared about him.

“Okay, okay,” he mumbled against my lips. “Emma and my parents won’t leave me alone if they catch us like this again.”

“You act like I care what they think,” I said, smirking.

“Maybe you should,” he said, returning the smirk and pecking my lips.

We got out of bed and Misha pulled shorts on. We went down to the kitchen, where Mr. and Mrs. Redner was sipping coffee and talking.

“Good morning boys,” Mr. Redner greeted with a nod.

“Good morning,” we said back, sitting down at the breakfast table together.

Emma came downstairs, stretching and looking exhausted. She dropped into a chair across from us.

                “Hey guys,” she said sleepily.

“Hey Em. Wake up,” Misha said, reaching over and poking her in the arm repeatedly.

“Collie, I would like to inform you that Misha has been doing that to Emma ever since we brought her home from the hospital. He does not enjoy it when his little sister is sleepy or sleeping,” Mrs. Redner said, handing us all bowls, cereal, and milk.

“And his little sister doesn’t enjoy being poked first thing in the morning!” Emma said, glaring at her brother and smacking his hand away.

“Aw Emma!” Misha said with a cute smile. “I just want you to be as awake as I am!”

“Oh, leave her alone,” I said, grabbing his wrist before he could poke her again. “You’re 20 years old. Quit acting 3.”

“Actually, I’m only 19,” he pointed out, pulling me close and kissing me.

“But you’ll be 20 exactly two weeks from tomorrow,” I pointed out.

“That’s true. Then only one more year until I can legally drink,” he said with a grin.

“Shut up Misha. You know you’ll still call and ask me permission before you drink, even when you’re 21,” Mrs. Redner said with a sigh.

Misha blushed as Emma and I laughed at him. I wrapped my arms around his waist and kissed him.

“I’m surprised you don’t ask your mother’s permission before you do that,” Mr. Redner said, watching us.

“Dad! I can kiss my boyfriend whenever I want!” Misha said, blushing again.

I laughed and we all ate breakfast. Misha and I went upstairs when we were done, and I looked at his drawer.

“You always give me clothes. Let me dress you today,” I said, moving over to his drawers and pulling them open.

Misha shrugged and sat on his bed, watching me as I dug through his shirts and jeans. I finally settled on a gray T-shirt with a dark blue and black plaid shirt to go over it. I tossed him a pair of ripped jeans as well.

“And wear your nose ring today. You always wear the stud,” I said, poking his nose playfully.

“I get so lazy. Changing my stud to the ring takes several precious seconds out of my life,” he said with a sigh, going over to his desk and picking up his nose ring.

I found some clothes to wear and we changed. Misha handed me a beanie, motioning at his untucked shirt. I rolled my eyes and pulled the beanie on, pecking his lips.

“Can I just buy you clothes with my name on them?” Misha asked, eyeing the back of the shirt I was wearing.

I shifted over to the mirror, realizing that the back of this shirt said “Misha Redner #15”. I glanced at him curiously.

“What was this shirt for?” I asked, taking his hand as we left his bedroom together.

“Baseball. I played in high school until I broke my collar bone catching,” he said.

“Well, I won’t break your collar bone when you’re catching me,” I said, patting his head.

“Collie!” he cried in surprise, staring at me. “Jesus Christ! It’s not even 7 in the morning, and you’re already being horribly dirty!”

“I was talking about if I fell,” I said innocently.

“No you were not,” he grumbled, pulling me down the stairs.

Emma was waiting for us at the doorway. We all went out and got in the car. Misha pulled up to the school a few minutes later.

“Bye Em. Bye Collie,” he said, leaning over and kissing me.

I started to get out of the car before realizing that I would most likely be in the hospital tonight. I turned and gripped Misha’s face in my hands, surprising him.

I crashed my lips against his, kissing him passionately. He was shocked for a second before kissing me back, gripping the front of my shirt and pulling me closer.

We broke apart, and he stared into my eyes with an unreadable expression. I slung my bag over my shoulder, getting out of the car.

“I’ll see you later Collie,” he said.

“Yea,” I mumbled, shutting the door and following Emma into the school.

“That was a pretty passionate kissing session. What was up with that?” Emma asked me as we searched around for Colin, Ant, and Zane.

I shrugged. “It just kind of came over me, I guess.”

Colin and ant appeared with Zane trailing after them. Colin and Ant were holding hands, smiling at each other as they talked and laughed.

I looked over and saw Vance and Drew standing together. They were shooting me a threatening look.

I ignored them and turned to my brother and friends. I wasn’t going to ruin Colin’s happiness just because of three homophobes. I would take the beating, and do what I could to hurt them so that they couldn’t go after Misha.

“Hey Collie,” Colin said, giving me a look that I couldn’t quite identify.

                “Uh…hi,” I said.

The bell rang and we all sighed and made our way to class. At lunch time, I stuck close to my brother and Ant, more to have then in my sight than to have protection.

Vance, Jake, and Drew were sitting at their own table, watching us. Colin had kicked them away from his usual lunch table, and then ended up leaving the table himself to sit with Ant.

“Are you doing anything after school Collie? Do you want to hang out with me and Ant?” Colin asked, slinging an arm around Ant’s shoulders.

I shook my head. I didn’t want Colin or Ant to be there when Vance and his friends came after me.

“Nah, but thanks. I’ve got things to do afterschool. Can you drop me off at TJ’s Apparel right after school? I want to visit Misha,” I said as casually as I could.

                “Yea, sure,” Colin said.

Ant turned and kissed Colin. I dropped my gaze as they became wrapped up in each other, seeming to forget where they were. It wasn’t that long ago when Colin would’ve hit Ant for being gay. Now he was making out with him the cafeteria.

                Oh, the irony of life.

“Are you okay Collie? You’ve been quieter than usual today,” Emma said.

I nodded at her. “I’m fine. I just don’t have much to say,” I said with a shrug.

I turned back to my brother and his boyfriend. I picked up an orange off the table and chucked it at Colin’s face.

“Ow!” he whined, rubbing his cheek after pulling away from Ant. “Why did you hit me with an orange?!”

“Because the orange was there,” I said, pointing at the table, “and your face was there.” I pointed at his face.

“Can’t argue with solid logic like that,” Ant said and kissed Colin’s cheek.

We finished eating and made our way to class when the bell rang. The end of the day came too quickly for my liking, and I mentally groaned when the final bell rang.

I went to my locker and began to gather my stuff, groaning out loud this time when I realized I had left my notebook in my 9th period class.

“What’s wrong?” Colin asked, glancing over at me.

“I left my notebook in my 9th period class,” I said with a sigh.

“Go grab it,” Colin said, shutting his locker and scanning the hallway for Ant.

I nodded and shut my locker as well. I hurried off to my 9th period class and let myself into the room. I looked around until I spotted my notebook.

I picked up my notebook as my phone buzzed in my pocket. I pulled it out and checked it, my face paling as I did so.

                From: Colin

We’ll meet you in the parking lot

I shakily put my phone back in my pocket and shoved my notebook into my backpack. Colin, Ant, and Emma had gone down to the parking lot without me. That meant I had to walk all the way down to the parking lot by myself.

I left the classroom and looked around the nearly deserted school. Seeing that it was Friday, everyone left as fast as they could. The school and the parking lot generally cleared out within ten minutes.

I left the school and looked down to the parking lot, where there were hardly any cars at all. I started down there, glancing around me quickly to make sure that Vance, Jake, and Drew weren’t in sight.

Gah, I was being stupid. They wouldn’t attack me here. Sure, there were no security cameras down near the parking lot, but would they really attack me he-

I let out a strangled yell as someone tackled me to the ground. My yell was muffled as someone slapped their hand over my mouth.

I looked up in terror, my eyes landing on Jake. He smirked and pulled me to my feet, slowly pulling his hand off of my mouth.

“Don’t you dare scream, faggot. Or else it’ll be so much worse once we go after Misha and Anthony,” Vance warned, standing in front of me with Drew.

I struggled in Jake’s arms, but kept my mouth shut. I wouldn’t let Misha or Ant get hurt just because I yelled.

“You didn’t do what we said, faggot,” Vance said, stepping closer to me. “We saw Colin and Ant making out during lunch, and just now after school.” He shook his head and sighed.

And then his fist flung out and collided with my face. I whimpered, and Jake put his hand back over my mouth, holding me tightly.

“Move your hand, Jake. It’s time for him to pay for punching me in the mouth,” Vance said.

Jake pulled his hand away from my mouth, restraining my arms as I desperately tried to get away from him. Vance was going to knock my freaking teeth out.

But Jake held on tightly. Drew came over and helped him hold me still, wrapping his arms around my neck and choking me tightly so that I couldn’t move my head.

Vance’s fist rocketed at me and collided with my mouth. I moaned as my bottom lip was sliced against my teeth, and spit blood out on the ground. My lip had split, and was bleeding violently.

“Doesn’t feel good, does it?” Vance asked, pulling his fist back to hit me again.

                “Don’t you fucking punch him!”

Vance froze and slowly turned to face Colin. His face paled and he dropped his fist, taking a step back in fear.

Misha stood there with Colin next to him. Colin’s eyes were blazing with fury, his fists clenched. Misha looked angrier than I could’ve ever imagined possible. If looks could kill, Vance would be obliterated by Misha’s hateful glare.

“Let him go,” Misha said, turning that hateful glare to Jake and Drew.

Jake and Drew released me, looking absolutely terrified. I spit out more blood on the ground, wishing I had a towel to hold to my mouth.

Misha and Colin walked towards me. Vance, Jake, and Drew began to back up, not wanting to face their fury.

“Don’t move,” Colin snapped. They stopped moving.

Misha put his arm around my shoulders and pulled me next to him protectively. He slid his hand under my shirt and pushed it up so that the shirt was against my bleeding mouth.

“Just use the shirt to stop the bleeding,” he said.

“This will be the second time I’ve ruined one of your shirts with my blood,” I said with a sigh, wincing as speaking made my mouth sting.

“It’s not your fault. It’s theirs,” he said, nodding at the three scared homophobes.

“I could just kill the three of you. How dare you fucking hurt my brother,” Colin said, barely containing himself.

“Colin…we just…” Drew trailed off, unsure of what to say.

“Did they threaten anyone else besides you and Misha?” Colin demanded, glancing at me.

“Ant,” I said. “They threatened Ant, too.”

“My boyfriend, my brother, and my brother’s boyfriend. You sick bastards,” Colin said, advancing at them. He pulled his fist back and let it fly forward, striking Vance in the eye.

“AH!” Vance slapped a hand over his eye, biting his lip in pain.

“I’m so sick of you three. Get out of here. And if you ever threaten or hurt anyone you know I care about, I’ll put YOU in the hospital,” Colin snarled viciously.

The three boys scrambled away quickly. Colin turned and hurried over to me, putting a hand on my shoulder.

“Are you okay?” he asked, looking frantic.

I pushed his hand off of my shoulder. “How did you know?” I asked.

Misha sighed. “You, uh, pocket dialed me yesterday.” He explained everything he had heard. “I called Jamie while you were sleeping last night and asked him to cover my shift. Then I called Colin and explained everything to him. It took forever to calm him down and listen to me, but when he did, we agreed to let them come after you so we could catch them in the act.”

But then a horribly guilty expression hit him. “I’m so sorry Collie. You weren’t supposed to actually get hurt. We thought we would get here before they hurt you. But we didn’t see the four of you until Vance had already hit you.”

“Don’t be sorry,” I said, resting my head on his shoulder. He moved his arm from my shoulders down to my waist, pulling me against himself. “Thank you. Both of you. I guess I should’ve told you in the first place.”

“Yea you should’ve!” Colin said angrily. “Collie…if they had hurt you…hurt you like they hurt Ant…” He wiped at his eyes in embarrassment as they watered. “Shit. See what you do?”

I slung an arm around his shoulders. “Sorry Colin.”

Misha kissed my cheek. “We need to get you cleaned up,” he said with a sigh.

“Come back to our house. We can take care of him there,” Colin said.

Misha nodded and led me to his car. I sat in the passenger seat as Misha pulled out of the parking lot, following behind Colin’s car.

                “Where’s Emma?” I asked.

“She was going over to a friend’s house to work on a project,” he said, gripping the steering wheel too tightly.

I reached over, gently placing my hand on top of his. “Calm down. I’m fine,” I assured, despite the blood still pouring from my mouth.

“You’re not fine Collie! If you would’ve just told me sooner…” He trailed off and stared ahead at the road.

“Are you mad at me?” I asked, suddenly nervous.

“Mad at you?” He gave me a look that said he thought I was a moron. “No, I’m not mad at you. I’m mad that you didn’t tell me or Colin, but I’m not actually mad at you. I’m worried about you Collie. If we had showed up even a minute later, you’d probably have a broken nose and no teeth.”

He chewed on his lip. “I saw him about to hit you, and I saw the blood pouring from your mouth and I just…Shit Collie, I was scared. I can’t stand the thought of someone hurting you like that,” he whispered, his voice cracking.

“You’re such a softy,” I said with a small, affectionate smile.

He pulled into my driveway and we got out of the car together. He came around and put his arm around my waist, leading me into the house with Colin.

                “Colin?” mom called from upstairs.

“Just ignore her. We need to worry about Collie,” Colin mumbled, climbing the stairs.

Mom glared at Misha in hate. But then her eyes slid over to me and widened in absolute horror. She slapped a hand over her mouth.

“Collie! Oh my god Collie!” she cried, hurrying over to me. She knocked Misha away from me and inspected my mouth. “What did you do to him?” mom cried, pulling me behind her protectively and glaring at Misha.

“Misha didn’t do anything. He and Colin saved me from getting my face broken,” I said, stepping away from mom and going back over to Misha. I took his hand in mine and pulled him past mom and down to the bathroom.

He sat me on the edge of the bathtub and grabbed a washcloth, wetting it and handing it to me. I pressed it against my mouth, glancing up at mom as she watched us from the doorway.

“What happened to you Collier?” she whispered.

“I’m telling her,” Misha said, giving me a stern look. “Your parents deserve to know, Collie.”

“I’ll tell her. You clean up Collie,” Colin said, grabbing mom’s arm and tugging her out of the bathroom.

“Why did you guys bring me here? They’re not going to let me leave now,” I said, glaring at the floor.

“Calm down. We’ll work everything out. Two weeks from tomorrow is my birthday, and I should have the money for the apartment after that,” he said, kissing my cheek.

                “Get away from my son!”

Misha and I glanced over at my dad. He was clenching his fists tightly as he watched the two of us.

“Colin told us what happened. But that doesn’t mean we’re going to let you come into our house and act that way with our son,” he said, storming over and putting himself between me and Misha.

“Dad, get out of here,” I said flatly. “If it weren’t for my sliced up lip, I would be kissing him on the mouth.”

Dad paled. “Collie, let me see your mouth,” he said kneeling next to me and pulling the washcloth away from my mouth.

I could see the true concern in his eyes. His youngest son had been attacked, and was bleeding badly. Even with Misha in here, he couldn’t help but be worried about me.

He gently pulled on my lip, examining the cuts inside my mouth. He released my lip and watched me hold the washcloth back to it.

“Don’t yell at Misha. Thank him. He and Colin saved me,” I said, meeting my dad’s eyes with a serious look. Misha deserved an apology from my dad, but if he wasn’t getting that, then he was getting a thank you.

Dad pressed his lips together in a tight, thin line. “Thank you for saving Collie,” he grumbled at Misha, not looking at him.

Misha stood up, frowning. “Mr. Redner, I know you don’t like me. But right now is not the time for that. Collie’s hurt. I just want to help him,” he said sincerely.

“His mother and I can handle everything from here,” dad said flatly.

“I’m moving into an apartment with Misha,” I said, deciding to put it out there.

My dad looked at me like I was crazy. “Did you hit your head too?” he asked.

I shook my head. “Nope. I just thought I would tell you that. Misha is buying an apartment, and I’m moving in with him. There’s really nothing you can do to stop me, so you might as well come to terms with it now.”

                “Absolutely not!” dad cried.

I stood up, pulling the washcloth away from my mouth. I met my dad’s eyes steadily, my voice strong as I spoke.

“Dad, I am in love with Misha. And your homophobia won’t change that. You can try to stop me, but you know it won’t work. I’m gay, and you need to either accept that, or keep your disapproval to yourself. I want to get along with you and mom again. I want you to be happy for me. That’s all I want. I want you to be happy for me and stop fighting me about MY sexuality all the time. Misha is my boyfriend, and I love him. Nothing you say or do will change that.”

I moved over to Misha and he wrapped his arms around my waist. I rested my head on his chest, watching my dad as I placed the washcloth against my mouth again.

“I can’t believe this,” dad groaned, burying his face in his hands.

“I love your son, Mr. Redner. And I know that by not accepting him, you’re hurting him,” Misha said, giving me a concerned look.

“You shut up,” he said, shooting Misha a dirty look.

“Hey, don’t tell my dork to shut up,” I said, causing Misha to smile a little.

I sighed and sat back down, pulling Misha down next to me. I glanced up at my dad as he stared at me with pained eyes.

“How can you want this Collier?” he whispered.

“I don’t want it, dad. Do you think I woke up one morning and was like ‘Wow let me make my life a million times harder by being gay with my homophobic parents’? No. I just realized I was attracted to boys at a young age, and mentally prepared myself for the day I would tell you. But if I could change my sexuality right now, I wouldn’t. I love Misha. I’m happy with him. And if you keep trying to pull me away from him, it’s only going to hurt me,” I said, my voice cracking a little.

Misha put his arm around my waist and I leaned against him. I was so sick of my parents. I just wanted them to leave us alone.

Feeling embarrassed as hell, my eyes started to water. “Can’t you just be happy for me and leave me alone?”

“Collie,” my dad said, looking surprised and helpless. “Come on, don’t do that. You never cry. You’re not a little kid anymore.”

I tossed the washcloth onto the counter, my mouth barely bleeding anymore. A tear leaked down my cheek, and Misha reached up, gently brushing it away with his finger.

I turned and tilted his head towards me, kissing him on the mouth. He kissed me back, keeping it gentle and careful so that he didn’t hurt my bottom lip.

We broke away from each other and I looked at my dad. He was pale as he stared at us. He gripped the counter and shook his head slowly.

“Collie,” he choked out. “Collie, stop. It’s not okay.”

“It’s okay dad. How can you tell me that there’s something wrong with two people being in love?” I asked quietly.

Without another word, dad turned and left the bathroom. Misha wrapped his arms around me, holding me tightly.

“I’m tired of fighting, Misha,” I said. “I don’t like fighting with my mom and dad. I’ll do what I have to do if it means I get to be with you. But I don’t know how much longer I can keep fighting them.”

“I understand,” he said, kissing my cheek. He took my hand in his, giving it a reassuring squeeze. “But you’re not fighting alone.”

“That was so cheesy,” I groaned, banging my head against his shoulder. “You are such a dork.”

                “Your dork,” he said, grinning.

“My dork,” I agreed with a sigh.

We got up and left the bathroom, still holding hands. I mentally sighed as we stepped into the living room and my parents looked up at us. Colin was sitting in a chair with a neutral expression.

“Collie, is this what you really want? To move in with some…some boy?” mom asked.

“Even if I don’t move in with Misha, I’ll have a male roommate at college that I could do some naughty things with,” I said with a shrug.

                “Ahem.” Misha glared at me.

“Not that I ever would,” I said with an innocent smile.

“Fine,” mom said, not looking at us.

                I stared at her. “What?”

“Fine. We’re sick of seeing you so angry and depressed all the time. Do what you need to do,” she said, her eyes watering. “Just be happy for once, Collie.”

I released Misha’s hand and slowly made my way over to my parents. I hugged my mom tightly, hardly able to believe this was actually happening.

“You’re never happy. But the look in your eyes when you’re with Emma’s brother…Dammit Collie. It’s wrong, and we know it’s wrong. It’s horrible. It’s disgusting. But we can’t stand to see you so hurt all the time,” she said, hugging me back.

“Two weeks. He’ll have the apartment in about two weeks,” I said.

“Stay here until then,” dad said, looking down at his hands. “We want you to sleep in your room until then.”

“Deal,” I said, pulling away from my mom and stepping back with Misha. “Thank you guys. So much,” I said sincerely.

Colin smiled at me from where he was sitting. He dropped me a wink as I tugged Misha downstairs and out of the house.

We drove back to the Redner’s and Misha led me up to his bedroom. We changed into swim trunks and went out to the hot tub, sliding into the water and cuddling together.

“I’m so happy for you,” Misha said, kissing me.

“I love you Misha,” I said, resting my head on his chest and smiling.

“Two weeks and I’ll have the money for that apartment. Then we can live together,” he said happily.

“I can’t wait,” I said, my smile growing wider. For once, everything was looking up for the two of us.
