Chapter 2

"Good morning mum" I said to my mum who's in the kitchen preparing breakfast.

"Morning, my baby" she replied. My baby she really wouldn't quit calling me that. I'm 16 for Pete's sake! Ahah na.

"Woah, you're up early" A deep masculine voice said.

Wait what??!!!!

"How long did it take you to get ready this time? An hour?" He teased.

"Bro!" I shrieked and ran towards him. He picked me up swiftly in an embrace. It's either I'm as light as feather or this dude got really strong.

"Hey cadet" he said setting me back on the ground.

"He arrived late last night. It was his idea not to tell you he was coming over" mum said.

"Or when he got here!" I said fuming and feigning annoyance.

"Calm down ma'am, you were sleeping like a baby. I didn't want to disturb you. Besides you have school today." Josh chipped in.

"So not fair!" I whined.

"You're such a baby" he teased. It's really fond of him to tease me...every time.

"Whatever soldier boy" I said rolling my eyes.

"See?" He said laughing.

"Alright you two. Missy, I know you missed your brother so much but you shouldn't miss school either" mum said winking and emphasising miss.

"Mum still hasn't given up on her word play?" Rex asked me.

"No duh" I replied, mentally facepalming.

"Hahahaha, never gets old" mum said nudging my elbow and returned to the counter.

You're getting old! I wanted to add but knew it was better not to.

"I'll drop you off at school, just like old times. What do you say?" Josh asked.

Are you kidding me? "Yesssssss" I almost screamed.

So wait o, I woke up and got dressed early and my brother was around all this time! Chai!

After breakfast- toast and scrambled eggs with a cup of hot chocolate absolute yum - I hug my mum goodbye and head out with my brother.

"What? Who's car is this?"

"Mine?"

"Yours? Since when?"

"Uhm almost a year now"

Okay, any more surprises today and I'd freak out.

"Woah!"
"You like?"
"Totally dude"

It was a black Infinity Qx70. A sharp contrast to his old Toyota Hilux pickup truck. "Sleek" I add. An eye candy. Just what I need this morning. Candy!

"Buckle up"
"High high captain"
He gives me a serious look, raising an eyebrow. Haha, Oops.
"I mean, sir yes sir"
He lets out a loud laughter "At ease, soldier"
"Meanie" I grunted.

I wipe my brow and I sweat my rust
I'm breathing in the chemicals
I'm breaking in, shaping up, then checking out on the prison bus
This is it the apocalypse

What the...I wanted candy, not radioactivity, nothing toxic.

Of course it is. He has been a huge fan of the band for as long as I can remember.

7:24am
We arrive at my school. The huge black entrance gate looked repainted.
Sigh, another episode is about to start. Dear God, help me on this one.

Josh stopped the car in front of the school's recreational garden.

"Here, have fun aii?"

"Aii" hopefully

"Oh and say hi to your friends for me" he added.

"Sure thing" I knew exactly who the 'friends' were.

I shut the door close, and as if adding a dramatic effect to my present situation, the sound echoed in the distance.

I took in a deep breath, ready to face whatever craziness this year has in store, and I'm suspecting a lot of it. It is the last year.

"Roxie!" I heard a high pitched voice I'm too familiar with scream behind me.

It was as though I was hit by a bolder or something...someone- Anastasia.

I struggled to stay on my feet while what seemed like 300 pounds of meat was strapped on my back like a bag pack.

"Get your fat ass off me!"

"My heart!" She gasped "Oh my poor fragile heart, it can never be unbroken"

I forgot to mention that she's a drama queen huh

"Crazy girl!" I laughed and gave her a hug.

"I've missed your black ass"

"Yo, you saw me 3 weeks ago." I reminded her. It was at her aunt's wedding reception.

"Oh yeaaaah, I didn't miss you at all then" she gave an undaunted look "return from whence you came" she added with an accent.

"Shut up Anne" I said and playfully slapped her head.

"Ouch. Jerk!" She exclaimed and returned the favour.

We kept on walking to the block where the classrooms are at.

"Uhm, where's Anderson?"

"He's somewhere" she said and dismissed it with a wave of her hands.

I really don't get Anne and her brother Anderson. Her twin brother. They are like cat and dog. Arguing and fighting often. I find it cute though.

"Hey Annes!"

We both turn around and come face to face with Drew, a close friend of ours and part of the gang.

"Drew!" we chorused

Drew looked somewhat different, his hair was at a longer length now and his jawlines looked more defined. His shoulders looked broader too. Other than that, he's still the same guy with the heart warming smile and beautiful eyes. Those eyes, that seem to pierce my soul. Forget the car, this is eye candy. Uh-oh eyes off the merchandise Roxie. This is toxic too.
