Chapter 8
Kimmon's POV
When Bas and I arrived at my place, my mom was in the living room watching a K-drama on our big screen TV. She greeted Bas and me enthusiastically. When I bent down to place a quick kiss on her cheek, I noticed that she was teary-eyed.
"Ma!" I exclaimed, "stop watching those Korean dramas if you're just gonna end up in a weepy mess!"
She waved me away and reached for a box of tissues. I just shook my head and made my way to my room. Bas followed suit.
"Would you care for any drinks and snacks?" I asked Bas.
"Sure!" he said eagerly. I laughed out loud. Bas has an endless pit in his stomach. I went to the fridge and fished out two cans of soda, then went to the cupboard and grabbed a big bag of cheese puffs.
When I went back to my room, I was expecting Bas to be either rifling through my manga collection or listening to some music. Instead he was sitting on my bed and looking at me with a thoughtful expression on his face. I handed him the can of soda and the bag of cheese puffs, and popped open my own can. He took them but to my surprise he did not try to open any of them eagerly as I was expecting him to do immediately.
"P'Kim," he started to say.
Please, please, I begged silently, don't interrogate me about Copter. I'm not ready to talk about him yet. I wanna keep it my own little secret for a while longer.
Copter's POV
I could feel P'Tee eyeing me curiously as I sat on the couch with my eyes glued to the TV screen. I don't blame him for the quizzical look on his face. I have watched other romance movies with him before but I don't normally grab one tissue after another while watching the female lead cry her eyes out because she accidentally stumbled upon her man entering a movie theater with another woman.
At first P'Tee kept a respectful silence but when the movie finally ended, he said very gently, "Do you wanna talk about it?"
The gentleness in his voice let loose the dam inside me and I started bawling like a baby. I knew that I would be totally embarrassed about it later but thankfully P'Tee is the most wonderful friend any one could ever hope to have.
"I hate him! I hate him! But I hate myself more for not being able to fight these feelings for him!" I exclaimed between sobs.
"Who is this 'him'?" P'Tee asked patiently because I still could not bear to even mention his name.
P'Tee was quiet for a few seconds, and then he said, "Let me guess, it's P'Kim."
"I knew it!" he exclaimed in a frustrated voice when he saw me nod miserably.
"Nong Cop, pull yourself together. You know that he is a player, right? He is like a chain smoker. He is already lighting another cigarette before he has even finished the other stick," P"Tee advised me sternly. "That's how he has been with his multiple affairs. You don't wanna be another stick of cigarette that he will putting out even before he has reached the end of it."
I know that he means well, but his advise did not serve to unburden my sorrow. On the contrary it only made me more miserable and set off a fresh episode of sobbing.
