Chapter 24. Home Sweet Home

Sonia's POV

I woke up in my own bed.
The sun was trickling in a small gap in the curtains that hadn't quite been pulled all-the-way closed.
It warmed my skin, deliciously, and in a way that reminded me, that I was alive!
And It. Felt. AMAZING!!
I took a deep breath, and as I stretched, I felt the blue energy building up around me.
My eyes snapped when my fingers seemingly came into contact with something that caused a spark of static electricity... Initially, I pulled my hand back, however then I was curious as to how far it went, and what it was.
"Was this something I've done in my sleep because of nightmares?" I thought to myself, as I reached out my hand again to investigate the depth of this electricity.
A millisecond before my finger made purposeful contact with it - Ody's face popped into my doorway.
"Don't touch it without good or pure intentions, Sonia, or it has enough charge to kill you." as he said this, his eyes were full of sadness, and I couldn't help but notice just how exhausted and tired he looked.

I looked him over from head-to-toe...
His outfit was disheveled, and there appeared to be a coffee or food stain on his shirt, his body was canted forwards, and he was using the door frame to stay standing.his lips were pale, his entire face was pale - if I was being honest with myself...
For the first time, since meeting him, Ody wasn't in control and it was his self-image that was suffering - because of me?

"Ody? What it is the meaning of this? Is there something wrong?" I asked him, fear making my voice sound shrill.

He avoided my eyes and a hand swiped at the back of his neck, giving away just how stressed he truly was - "Sonia," he started slowly, "I love you and so-much-so it scares me! And after almost losing you three times, two of which I had nothing to do with, I just can't stand the idea of your life being lost. So I expended over eighty-percent of my magic to erect two barriers-"

I interrupted Ody to shout at him "Again with the barriers!?"

Ody looked at me with complete resolution when he said "yes, ones that You and-you-alone can bypass to get through with your own electric energy - simply by it being pure, like you - and you having good intentions of wherever you're going and whatever you're doing." Ody finally managed to finish, and once he had he collapsed to his knees with a groan.

I leaped out of my bed without thinking, wanting to gather Ody in my arms or at least offer him some kind of aid.
As I knelt by his side, his upper-half shuddered as he fell, eyes falling back into his head.
"Ody! What have you done to yourself?" I shouted.

Unknown's POV

I cannot sense my own demon-spawn I loathe to call my child from that horrid union.
I'd been switching between scrying and having someone draw my tarot cards and Nothing!
I was starting to get beyond irate!
Those damn demon-boys, Asmodeus, Leviathan, Satan, and Lucifer are proving to be more than just a pain in my butt.

"Servant!" I hollered at the very top of my lungs, as I started to pace.

"Y-y-ye-yes M-m-my L-l-lo-lor-lord." the simpering fool stuttered.

I can't really explain why, but rage levels rose to almost uncontrollable levels. My teeth were gritting so tight, I could have sworn they should have cracked! My shoulders were incredibly tense and were sitting up around my ears, and my spine was rigid - locked in place with my tenseness. My face started to go red and a tic formed on the bottom of my jaw on the left. Without a verbal warning, I kicked the stuttering servant ridiculously hard, he slammed against the wall opposite me with a sickening crack, his body fell in a crumpled heap on the floor, and then I saw his soul try and leave his body.

"Uh. Uh. Uh." I wagged my finger at his soul as I grabbed it, threw it back into his body, and healed the injuries I'd caused.

As soon as I had done so, I noticed my rage levels had receded.

"It has to be the fact that my plans are being interrupted, and the fact I cannot locate the girl that has me so uptight and worked up." I thought to myself, "But I cannot keep taking it out on the servants. They have done nothing to deserve it and it would explain why they are so jumpy around me."

As the servant came to in my arms - the soft humming of magic flowing not only through him but through the room also - he went to leap up out of fright. I kept my face calm and serene and made sure to keep the magic going until he was one-hundred percent healed, I knew he was looking at me, and taking me in while my face wasn't screwed up in anger or frustration.

Once I did open my eyes to do a physical assessment, not a magical one, his eyes managed to find anything and everything more interesting than me to look at.

After minutes of silence, the servant was unable to take it anymore - "I-i-is M-m-my L-l-lo-lor-lord o-o-ok?" He stuttered at me.

I rolled my eyes, and said "Yes, I'm fine. I'm also immortal! You, however, are not! Stop pissing me off, and maybe you won't die. Again."

The servant nodded, stood up and took of running out of the room.

"Such simpletons!" I said. More to myself, because there was no one in my throne room with me.

"Now, how to get my daughter back and gain her powers as my own."

Ody's POV

Once I came to, I realised I was in Sonia's bed.
I blinked the excess sleep from my eyes (as best as I could) and moved my head to take in my surroundings.

I could see the outline of the barrier still there, so clearly, the expenditure of my magic - worked.
However, Sonia shouldn't have pulled me in here. I look down at that thought, and see her arms wrapped around my torso, and her resting against my heart.

I laid a gentle kiss on her forehead, and that was enough to wake her up.

"G'morning Ody, how did you sleep?" Sonia asked me, her voice throatier than usual, having just woken up.

"I don't know if I did..." I replied a little uncertainly, "I remember talking to you, then nothing... just black."

Sonia looked at me with worry clouding her blue eyes, "You literally keeled over after explaining the barriers!" she declared almost angrily, "I was so worried about you Ody!" Sonia slapped my right cheek, causing my face to snap to the left.
"Don't you ever do that to me again!"

I looked at her, my mouth forming an "O" shape.
"I never meant to hur-" I started to apologise, but Sonia cut me off.

"You hurt me by scaring the shit out of me. Ody, your not like you were before. Your heart-beat keeps skipping in your sleep, your breathing was strained and sometimes very weak - I'm worried about you having expended too much magic... can y-you become m-mortal?" she asked me in a very small voice.

I guessed pretty quick how worried she was, and so I stroked a finger down her cheek with a feather-like touch.
I smiled at her and said "I kind of guessed this may have been going to happen, but I didn't want to freak you beforehand..." I explained to Sonia as I held her hands, gently "I gave my mortality up - to protect you." I whispered to her before capturing her lips in a soft kiss.

Sonia pushed me both off her and away - albeit a bit too easily.
"You. Did. What?!?" she spat out in frustration, "Ody, I never asked you to do that for me! Why? Why would you risk such a thing? Your brothers will be furious... I can't... I don't... this is... ugh!!!" Sonia ended up grunting, before leaving me shrouded beneath my own barrier, and walking out the front door.

Fuck. My. Life.
