Chapter 13. The enemy of the enemy is my friend

Sonia. Was. Horrified.

As Ody was hurtling her car down the M1, all she could hear, were his utterances.

Sonia took the chance to breath deeply, and focus on the facts as she could remember them.

As Sonia sat, fractions of memories began to swim in her head - of the night she and Ody had sex, and then... her brain started to fritz - what happened after that? A scene of Ody in a black robe - as black as night - as he spoke words in a language she didn't understand. Perhaps Latin?

Ody continued to push Sonia's car faster and faster down the freeway, all the while muttering to himself "...created him... that fucker.... she's mine... I'm gonna destroy..... fuck this... how much longer...?"

Sonia was partially listening in, and it wasn't until she caught the middle part that realised what Ody was doing, where he was going and how he planned on handling the current situation.

He was going to find Peter, and he was going to kill him.

This realisation was enough to make Sonia pause.

"Do I care what happens to Peter?" she thought to herself, "he tortured me for weeks, made me feel like shit, put my life in jeopardy... but am I the kind of person that is willing to turn my back on anyone in their darkest hour?"

The answer to that, was no.

At one point, Peter had been 'The man of my dreams' but now...?

Having made up her mind to do something, anything to put a stop to Ody, Sonia focused on her fingers. After five or so minutes of focusing solely on them she could wiggle them.

Next, Sonia focused on her toes. And again, after five or so minutes of solid concentration, she could wiggle them.

From there, it was a case of independently activating and then releasing her muscles throughout her body. After thirty-five minutes, Sonia almost had complete control over her entire body.

Sonia's eyes then snapped open.

She had to take stock of where they were, and where they were heading.

Looking out the window, Sonia could see they had left the e-tag section of the freeway, and were speedily overtaking cars in the right-hand lane. The next exit was... Clyde?

Sonia's brain started whirling, as she tried to piece this altogether.

"Chapter one saw Peter by the banks of the Yarra. That's in the city and I'm a long way from home, Toto." She thought to herself.

But then she remembered some of the paperwork Ody had shown her in her own house.

"I'm from the country."

"My family home was out beyond Pakenham."

"Been in the family for generations."

These flashes of memory came hard and fast, making her brain hurt, but she kept a hold of them in her mind.

Before getting in the car, Ody had prevented Sonia from speaking simply by telling her to stay silent, and only to speak when spoken to. She wasn't sure if it was her mouth or voice box that wasn't gonna work without his permission... but Sonia was determined to work it out.

After fiften-twenty more minutes of working her entire body, including her voice-box, Sonia was ready to break free from Ody's clutches.

"It can't be in the middle of nowhere, or if he manages to over-power me, or control me again, no-one will hear my screams. But if he thinks I've broken out of his choke-hold..."
Sonia was thinking to herself, trying to come up with a plan to either thwart or get away from Ody. "Does anyone else...? Peter!"

Sonia's body was drenched in sweat, and although the idea of calling for help from someone who merely viewed her as a "Toy"  made her back muscles quiver and shudder with fear, she knew the alternative was letting Ody destroy Peter, and then doing whatever-the-hell he wanted with her... Forever.

And so, Sonia steeled herself, closed her eyes, and reached out for Peter.
"Peter? Peter! Where are you?" Sonia called out mentally, "Ody is trying to kidnap me, bind me to his soul for eternity - and destroy you. We're in a car on a freeway heading past Pakenham."

As Sonia opened her eyes, she immediately caught sight of her phone... underneath the drivers seat - lit up with a notification.
A reply from Peter.

Sonia's heart began to race in her chest. "Yes!" She thought to herself, "He heard me and has responded!"

Sonia slowly reached her left leg out, and used her big toe to usher the phone towards herself.
Keeping half an eye on Ody in the drivers seat at the same time.

Ody - meanwhile - was still muttering to himself, and pushing Sonia's car harder than it should be pushed.

They passed a Service Station that had a green sign notifying Sonia of where they were.

"I'm coming up on the B460." Sonia thought, but aimed it at Peter. "I don't know where your families property is, but I'm gonna guess we're coming up on it... fast."

By now, the phone was almost in Sonia's hands, but she had made a point of making sure the phone was facing down. This way, if Peter responded... Ody wouldn't know, or be able to see.

Sonia grabbed the phone in her left hand. And while hiding the screens brightness, Sonia dimmed it as low as it would go, with the blue screen filter on.

Clicking on the Wattpad notifications she had, Sonia was able to see that the story had kept up with what was happening.
And then, underneath all of it, was a response from Peter.

"I got you, boo! He won't hurt you. He sure-as-shit won't kill me. I'm invincible!"

Sonia rolled her eyes at that message. But her heart-rate had settled down, knowing Peter was onto them, and their location.

Not even three minutes later, the engine began to smoke and splutter.

Ody roared in frustration, smashing his palms down on the steering wheel in a fit of rage.

"What. The. Fuucckk!!" Ody screamed. "Piece of shit car. Fucking won't get me to him. Argh!"

Sonia stayed still, and quiet in the backseat, but couldn't help the small smirk from making the corners of her mouth pull up.

Ody got out of the car in order to pace back and forth the length of the vehicle.

Sonia, thinking of Peter directly, "We've stopped because the car broke down. He's pacing outside the car. I can't risk looking at a response because then he will know I have my phone."

Sonia sat quietly, listening to Ody pace, and to the sounds of the night time, when - BAM! Ody's body was slammed against the car, and he grunted before collapsing to the ground.
Sonia had screamed in fright at the loud noise, and snapped her head up to see what was going on. Only, there was no-one there.

Ody slowly got to his feet, only to be slammed back into the bitumen.

The phone both lit up and vibrated against Sonia's left hand and thigh, desperate for her attention, so she looked at it.
"I'll kill him, you drive home, safely." Was the message from Peter.

Sonia watched Ody's body arch like he'd been kicked, and he rolled at least twenty-five metres from the car.

She chose that moment to leave her spot in the back seat and dive into the front seat, and luckily enough for her - Ody had left the keys in the ignition.

She turned the key, chanting "Please start, Please start, Please start!" Over and over and over in her head, and just as the engine kicked over, her phone lit up again, "I wouldn't leave you stranded. I had to fix what I broke, LOL!"

As Sonia put it in "drive", and took her foot off the brake, and was about to put it on the accelerator - Ody had gotten back to his feet and was charging towards the car screaming "STOP!"

For a split second, Sonia's foot hovered over the accelerator,  as if considering his ridiculous  notion. But because she had spent so much time in the car, mentally breaking the connection - after that split second she planted her foot and aimed the car directly for Ody.
