Chapter 5

-chapter 5-

The date was long and uneventful, yet Ana loved every second spent with the foreign boy. After they ate their food, Calum and her walked down a nature trail attached to the park. It was quiet and cute. He continued to compliment her and she would bashfully look away.
Once the date was over, she went home with an amiable smile on her face. She felt wanted, and needed, something Ana hadn't felt in a while. Although, her date yesterday was nice, she had to get ready for her classes that she scheduled for today. Ana was going to New York University, just like she told Calum.
She was studying to be a spinal surgeon, just like her father, he was very passionate about his work. Sometimes he would come home early from his office and tell Ana and her sister about a few patients he saw that day. Ana was obsessed with being a doctor ever since.
Her first class was advanced biology, then she would venture to her English class, till at the end of the day she had her Calculous course. Ana actually loved her classes and her school. It was simple to her, and something she enjoyed.
Isabelle was a fashion major, just as she always dreamed. So she only had one class then left Ana at the college. Although, Ana didn't mind walking home. She liked the quiet. Most of the time she would cut through the park and sit on her favorite bench in front of the duck pond and do homework before leaving. The same bench she met Luke at.
Isabelle knocked quietly with her index finger on Ana's bedroom door, "Stop day dreaming about whatshisface and get your big ass in the car!" She hollered to Ana who was taking longer than usual to get ready for school.
Flying high off the feeling Calum gave her, Ana thought she should dress nicely. That's why it took her so long. She put on a mid thigh length, floral patterned skirt with a white laced tanktop, matched with pretty little white flats. She looked adorable with her bangs pulled over her head with a tiny hair clip.
Calum offered to take her out again when they said their goodbyes, and she was anticipating his call. It could happen at anytime and she was anxious to receive it. Ana thought the date went well, so well she planned on wearing skirts and sun dresses the rest of the week. The feeling of a boy calling her beautiful made her want to feel that way herself.
"HURRY UP!!" Isabelle yelled from the living room, causing Anastasia to drop her hairbrush on her foot. A yelp was heard and Ana's door opened shortly after.
"Ow," She muttered while following Izzy out to her car. Isabelle shook her head at her best friend and  locked the front door behind them.
While getting in the car Isabelle smirked, "That's what you get for taking so long."
Ana frowned while getting in the passenger seat. While Isabelle started the car, Ana surfed the radio stations until the beginning of 'What Makes You Beautiful' was heard and Isabelle screamed at the top of her lungs. She practically breathed One Direction and lived off of them, more than a twenty year old should. Without a second thought, she began belching the lyrics and tapping her finger on the steering wheel before Ana could change the station.
If they were in Ana's minivan they would be listening to her mixtapes she made with all her favorite songs from her favorite bands. It was a mixture of Journey, Europe, GreenDay, Coldplay, My Chemical Romance, and Panic! At the Disco. That was one of the few things they didn't have in common, they lacked a common music interest. Isabelle was more into the mainstream and popular music while Anastasia liked the classics and alternative music.
"THE WAY THAT YOU FLIP YOUR HAIR GETS ME OVERWHELMED, BUT WHEN YOU SMILE AT THE GROUND IT AINT HARD TO TELL! OH OH-OH!" Isabelle sang along, very terribly. She wasn't the best singer, but she didn't care.
The song continued and Ana slouched in the seat, waiting for Isabelle to park the car so she could make a run for it. It's not that the song was bad, it just wasn't Ana's type of music. To her, the lyrics weren't genuine. They lacked that poetic feel that she loved to hear in a song.
NYU became closer so Ana sat straight with her hand on the door handle, ready to dash out. Isabelle turned down the radio and locked the doors before she turned into the parking lot causing the blonde to sigh and slouch in the seat again.
The ignition was shutoff as Isabelle turned to her best friend with a knowing smile, "So, how was your date with pharmacy boy?" She referred to Calum as pharmacy boy, and Luke as park boy because Ana refused to tell her their names.
Ana hid her red cheeks with a shrug, trying not to seem overly cheerful, "It was alright, we went to the park and stuff," She stated nonchalantly, acting like it was no big deal.
However, Isabelle saw right through her charade and crossed her arms over her chest, "Ana, you're favorite place on this earth is The Nature Park down the street. You go there all the time, you had to have liked it," She pointed out.
The dark haired girl was right, and Ana knew it. The Nature Park was the name of the park, because of all the trails and nature walks that were available. It was one of Ana's favorite places because it was a dog park and she got to bring Molly along on walks.
Ana couldn't suppress her smile any longer. She bit her lip before saying, "Okay, I loved it. The date was sweet and peaceful and he is SO HOT," They both fangirled at the last part like any pair of girls would.
"I knew it," Isabelle smirked. She could always tell when Ana was excited. Izzy knew it had been a long time since her friend had been in a relationship, unlike herself.
Isabelle and her boyfriend, Chaz, had been dating for two years. They met late at night while Izzy was coming home from a frat party she was invited to. Chaz passed out free xtacy tablets to a few people, one of them being Isabelle. She woke up the next morning in his bed and ever since then they've been together.
Ana knew all about it and she frowned upon their relationship a lot. Although, there wasn't much she was able to do. Whether she liked it or not, it was Isabelle's life and relationship and she can do whatever she wanted. But her choices of going to parties and doing drugs with her boyfriend would have to come to an end sooner or later, right?
The taller of the two checked her watch and frowned, "I've gotta go Iz, I'll see you when I get home," Ana said her goodbyes and vented out of the car to her advanced medical biology class. Isabelle left the car as well, heading to the arts building.
Anastasia carried a few books in her hands as she crossed the quad to the medical wing of the college. She passed a few freshman walking around aimlessly, trying to find their classes, which she cooed at. She remembered her first time on campus, it was mortifying.
When she finally reached the classroom, she scavenged an empty seat in the back of the room and quickly sat down. The room was already full, talking with Isabelle must have delayed her a few minutes.
Throughout the entire lecture the love struck girl didn't pay attention a bit. All that ran through her head was Calum's dark chocolate eyes and his beautiful smile. She was dumbfounded as to how someone as gorgeous as him would ask someone as quiet as her on a date.
About an hour into her class, Ana's phone buzzed in her bag. She looked around to see if anyone heard the obnoxious vibration then grabbed her phone quickly to check it. On the screen was a text from Calum.

[Cute guy Cal] - "Hey Ana, I had a wonderful time with you. Maybe you'd like to go to dinner with me tonight around 8? "

Ana smiled wildly at the technology in her hand. Calum was putting the moves on her, and she was oblivious. The poor girl was blinded by the attention she was getting to realize the truth of what Calum wanted.
Peering around the room to be sure the professor wasn't looking, she replied to the boy.

[Ana] - "I'd love to!! I'm in class right now so I can't really talk, but I'll give you my address so you can pick me up."

She sent the address to her apartment afterwards, then slipped her phone back into her bag. The rest of the day it was hard to concentrate on anything. Anastasia was giddy and thrilled to be going on another date with Calum tonight, even if they hung out just yesterday.
Ana didn't care honestly, she was just excited to be spending more time with the Australian boy. It's not everyday a hot guy with an accent taps you on the shoulder then gives you his number. Thus, Anastasia wanted to make the best of this strange encounter, hopeful it would turn into something more.

-.-.-.-

Cherry kiss vanilla perfume was saturated into the blonde's skin as she awaited Calum to pick her up. She was so excited, she got ready thirty minutes before and sat in the living room with Isabelle.
"When are you gonna tell me who this guy is?" Isabelle whined out while stuffing her face with popcorn.
Ana giggled, "You'll see him when he picks me up." She stated, reassuring her restless friend.
Isabelle sighed and nodded an 'ok' before questioning Ana again, "Don't you think it's a little too soon to be going on another date with a guy you barely know?"
"That's why I agreed for tonight, I'm going to get to know him better," She smiled and quieted Izzy's interrogation.
''But what if he's like one of those stalker guys?" Isabelle continued, picking at Ana. She wanted to dig her nails into her friends throat to tell her to shut up, but it wouldn't of been worth it. She'd probably continued to talk anyway.
Ana took in a sharp breath, calming herself, "Why don't you stop worrying about it yeah?" She tried her best not to seem hostile or angry, but failed. Isabelle was getting on her last nerve. She had been all afternoon.
When she came home from the park Isabelle asked if she saw 'park boy', which dug under Ana's skin. Her friend was picking on her and she didn't like it. There were a million things Anastasia could say about her everyday, but she doesn't because that's her friend. Izzy, on the other hand, didn't care about other people's feelings and liked to pick, and pick, and pick, until Ana snapped. She enjoyed when Ana is mad sometimes.
Isabelle scoffed at Ana's remark, "No need to get your panties in a twist Anns, just asking a question. Gosh," she acted snobby. Ana ignored her and began examining her finger nails that purposely matched her dress.
Since they were going to dinner, Ana chose a casual dress, but not a sundress. It was a deep purple color with small ruffles around he bust. It went well with her skin tone and long honey hair.
"Are you sure you want to wear that dress?" Isabelle spoke up again. She didn't like the color purple on Ana, she didn't think it flattered her.
Ana rolled her eyes at her friend's arrogance and retorted, "I think it looks cute. Not too formal, but not too casual."
Isabelle fake gaged and continued stuffing her face with popcorn. The tension between the two was increasing by the second. For some reason, Izzy was being annoying on purpose. She didn't understand why Anastasia wouldn't tell her the boys name. It was irritating to her, seeing as they never kept secrets from one another.
Although, the dark haired girl had been keeping some secrets from her room mate. She hadn't told Ana about the money she's been waisting on pills. Isabelle hadn't paid her half of the bills in three days, so by now Ana was tired of her crap.
It wasn't long until Calum knocked on the door with a single rose in hand for Anastasia. She graciously accepted and left with him, not saying another word to her friend. After getting in Calum's car for the first time, all the drama with Isabelle disappeared and Ana's head was filled with thoughts about the handsome boy next to her.
"So what adventure are we going on this time?" Ana questioned while Calum followed his gps on his phone to a random restaurant he had chosen.
Yes, the New York traffic was terrible. But Anastasia lived on the north side of the city, so it wasn't as bad as downtown. If she lived on the south side she wouldn't even own a car, she would be walking everywhere. Calum, however, didn't know that, so he drove right into a congested traffic area in downtown New York.
He groaned impatiently at the yellow taxi cab in front of them. Up a head was a green light, but not a single car was moving. Ana giggled at the foreign boy's mistake. She thought it was quite cute actually.
"Would you rather park curbside, and walk to where ever we are going? It'll be quicker," The blonde suggested.
Calum thought about it for a second before deciding what was best. He pulled off the road and parked the car next to a few shops. They both got out and Ana followed him.
She smiled ever so often at how cutely he walked. It was just walking, but to her it seemed like he was celestial. It looked beautiful for some reason. Maybe she was just falling for the boy awfully. The one in question was preposterous, because she didn't even know him that well. Maybe it was more that knowing him. Was it his charm that made her heart pound? His devilish good looks that made her knees weak?
"Tell me about your band," she suddenly stated while matching her pace with his long legs.
Calum met her eyes contently, "You seriously don't know who I am?" He asked the same thing he did a few days ago. It bothered Ana deep down because she felt like she was supposed to. The boy did look familiar, but she couldn't place it.
Shaking her head, she replied, "Not that I know of, so please tell me."
The raven haired boy smirked and informed the small girl, "Well, like I said, I play bass. We call ourselves five seconds of summer. Sometimes 5sos. And if you couldn't tell already, we are from Australia," He chuckled at the last part because it was plainly obvious where he was from.
Then it clicked. Isabelle had been talking about five seconds of summer for the last month because she heard they were going on tour with One Direction. Ana even saw them on TV last week.
Now she knew she couldn't tell Isabelle their names. If she did, world war seven thousand would break loose. No, not WWIII. Their fight would be all the other six thousand, nine hundred and ninety nine wars plus one more combined.
The pair rounded a corner and stopped in front of a pub. Ana was hesitant, because she thought they were going to a nice restaurant not a bar. She wasn't dressed for a bar. The idea of going inside terrified her. Anastasia had never stepped foot inside a bar before.
Her dad told her they were filled with bums and drug addicts that always begged for cash. She's not really that much of a drinker either, but if this was where Calum wanted to take her she was happy to go.
"May we continue this conversation inside?" Calum opened the door for the blonde haired girl. Reluctantly she creeped in the dark place, followed by her rugged date.
The smell of cigarettes and forgotten dreams slammed Ana in the face as Calum guided her to a table. There were a few old biker men in the bar that reeked of road kill. Ana never knew a place like this existed in the city.
They both slid into their chairs and waited as a bartender came up and asked for their orders. Ana didn't want to say anything, she didn't know what to say even if she wanted to. Drinking wasn't her thing, so she let Calum do the ordering.
The blonde felt out of place and mocked, she didn't fancy the ambiance in the small pub. On the other hand, Calum was enjoying the bartender's with the bootyshorts. He glanced at Ana a few times to see a disgusted expression.
This was how he played his game. First, he would be sweet and kind and treat a girl to a classic afternoon. Then, he would show her the side of life the girl wasn't familiar with. Cal would pretend to check out a few tramps, then the girls would throw themselves at him. It worked every time, and he was positive it was working with Ana.
Unfortunately, it was. It was working magnificently. Ana didn't like the way Calum was looking at those girls. She wanted him badly to look at her like that. He had a lustful gleam in his eye, and she wanted that directed towards her and only her.
Calum's charm was uncanny and immediately attached itself to Ana from the first second they spoke to each other. By the end of the night, he would be in her bed. He didn't even have to worry about her roommate because Izzy was out partying with her boyfriend. The plan was perfect, and it was in effect.
"So, that's what you've been doing in New York? Pursuing your music career?" Ana piped up uneasily, trying to re capture Calum's gaze so he wasn't drooling over the others.
His attention was back on the blonde as he said, "Of course, we started when we were in high school. They're my best friends ya know?" Cal smiled at the memories.
The bartender came back with a few drinks for the pair and placed it on the table in front of them. The tall boy ordered them both Gin Cocktails, and maybe a little extra in Ana's. She took her first sip shyly as Calum gulped his glass down.
One drink after another mounted it's way onto the table in front of the honey haired girl. Cal watched as her posture became looser and looser, waiting for the precise moment to seduce the drunk girl. Even though, Ana was far too intoxicated to stand let alone have sex, he couldn't wait to leave.
Empty glasses soon corroded the table and Ana became droopy eyed. She mumbled a few incoherent phrases under breath and smiled drunkly at the boy in front of her.
Cal snickered at her strange expression, "What?" He leaned across the table and cupped her cheek.
The buzzed girl swayed slightly from side to side trying to process his words, "Yourejustreallyhot and I'mreallyscaredI'mgoing to mess it up with you," she slurred some of her words, but Calum understood.
"You think I'm hot, huh?" He smirked, standing from his seat and looking down at the beautiful bashed girl next to him.
Sloppily, she nodded her head and laughed under her breath, "Yeah, the accent is so damn sexy too, but shhh don't tell Cal I said that," Ana placed her index finger over her lips giggling to herself.
She was gone. Calum's plan worked. Only thing to do now was to get her home and in bed.
