chapter 36
¤Feels safe¤
"Joonie what are you doing?" Taehyung asked from his seated position on the living room couch. He had just gotten the 14-day old photograph of tiny Hoseokie. He was planning on printing them out and making an album for his little nephew.
"Packing" Namjoon said carrying a suitcase up to their room.
"For?" he asked looking confused.
"We are going to see my family, remember?" He asked a little hopeful.
"I remember you saying we were, but you never told me when" Taehyung said standing up and following the man to their room. Tae plopped on the bed bouncing up and down. He quietly watched Namjoon pack both of their things into one suitcase.
"How long are we staying?" Tae asked sitting on the edge of the bed being haloed by the afternoon light.
"For a week or so" Namjoon replied zipping it up "Ready?"
"What now?!" Tae exclaimed.
"Yeah or I wouldn't have packed our toothbrushes"
"But what about Hoseokie?" Tae whined.
"He is with his parents. It will be fine" Namjoon said, "Now lets hurry and try to beat the storm" with that he grabbed one of Tae's hand and the other grabbed the suitcase and lead them to the car.
"Well this is boring" Tae stated and looked out the window to see the dark ominous clouds catching up. He huffed and leaned back in the seat.
"Try and take a nap" Namjoon suggesting turning the radio down a little.
"I don't want to" Tae whined while reaching for Joon's hand that he dragged across the middle and placed on his lap playing with the fingers with a bored expression. Thunder struck the sky and lightning starting zapping up above.
"Shit," Namjoon said under his breath as the fat raindrops dripped from the sky. At first, it was only a few before picking up speed. Namjoon had the wipers on full blast and was leaning forward to see the road.
"Joonie" Tae said in a warning tone "I don't like this"
"I know baby I don't either" he muttered looking for a place to stop for the storm to clear up. He saw a pull off for traveling cars and took it. Thankfully it was paved because their car would probably have gotten stuck in the thick mud.
"Let's just wait it out here" Namjoon broke the silence in the car while the rain constantly beat on the outside. The doors were locked and they couldn't see outside. Something about it made them feel safe. Secluded from all of the world.
With the cold damp rain brought a slight chill to the car that was currently turned off to save gas. Namjoon scooted his chair back and lowered it to the laying position.
"Here Taehyungie" he whined and patted the slim space. Tae crawled over and laid down on top of the elder. Namjoon's warm body put him at ease and soon he found himself relaxing and sinking into his body.
"Love ya Joonie" Tae murmured and kissed his chest where his head was laid. Namjoon's large hands splayed over his back and in his hair. He got a kiss on the top of his head through his hair. "Love you too Tae baby" Joonie replied.
"I like it like this" Tae said picking at a string on Namjoon's shirt "so peaceful and pretty"
"Feels safe" Namjoon said "no one even knows where we are and that feels safe like the rain is protecting us" he spoke his mind all the while holding onto Taehyung as if it he let go the boy would float away.
"Tell me about your family" Tae said "prepare me"
Namjoon sighed through his slightly whistley nose. "Well for starters I've not seen my parents in years... You met my sister. I usually keep in contact with her a lot better, but when you happened I kinda neglected the big brother role" he admitted.
"She was pretty" Tae recalled.
"Yeah she looks like my mother, but my mom isn't that nice. She never neglected her role as a mother. I was always clean, clothed, and fed. I had many toys... She just... She never really loved us the way mothers love their children. I think because she had us so young" Namjoon rubbed Tae's arms up and down warming him up.
"All of that caring shit I did for you I learned from her though. She was like a cool older sister I guess" his voice deep. Tae was straddling him and cuddling him and he could stay this way forever.
"I don't remember anything from the past," Tae said sadly "at least you remember"
"Was I that bad of a parent?" Namjoon teased.
"Shut up loser. Not the same" Tae whined. The beating of the rain and grey sky made him sleepy.
"I love you Tae baby," Namjoon said out of the blue.
"Love you too" Taehyung yawned "how much more driving do you have to do?"
"Just an hour or so"
"Mmmm okay. I'm going to take a nap right here" Tae nuzzled his head into Joon's chest. Ear right over his heart.
"You do that baby" Namjoon's comforting words soothed him to sleep along with the extra help from his warm hands hugging and squeezing him gently. Listening to the sounds of the rain and seeing the splashing of water all around, but they were sheltered.
