chapter 21
¤You're my dream now¤
Joon knew that Tae needed the day off before the big presentation, so he decided to take him out on a nice day tour of the city. It was rather a magnificent morning as he opened the curtains exposing Tae's golden skin to the sun as he gently stirred from his slumber. Namjoon reflected on when he had become such a romantic; must have been when he heard the poor thing cry out in his sleep from a nightmare, oh and when he used to sneak into his bedroom to sleep. How the bright light reflected almost blinding Namjoon as he glanced at the prince slayed his cold heart.
With every stroke of Tae's sword of gold he cut down guard after guard, wall after wall; until he was left with the heart of stone that he drove his sword in and broke the shell, but only for him. He was quite a selfish prince and wouldn't let anyone else see the beautiful and deep thoughts that drove him crazy.
"Hey, baby," when had that statement become a common phrase? Joon thought "wake up. We have something to do today." He gently brushed Taehyung's hair out of his face, his eyes twitching as the hair tickled his nose. "Joonie I want to sleep" he murmured into the fluffed pillow.
"No, I have something special planned, so no sleeping in today," Namjoon said standing upright and patting Tae's back before going to his phone to check the weather: a slight chance for rain, but nothing that can't be easily maneuvered.
He looked over his shoulder as Tae had shifted in the blankets sitting up looking utterly exhausted. The kid always looks rather exhausted every morning. It rather reminds him of Min and those two are polar opposites and he would like to keep it that way. "hurry up Taehyung"
Tae glared daggers but nevertheless proceeded to stumble around the room gathering his clothes and quickly changing in the bathroom. Heading out he glanced at Joonie and smiled sweetly showing his freshly brushed teeth. "All set?" Joon asked. "yep"
Namjoon grabbed the room card and all of the other necessary items before taking Tae's hand and leading them out of the hotel. "So...Where are we going?" Tae asked as soon as they stepped onto the sidewalk?
"You'll find out when we get there," Namjoon said walking with a little spunk in his step and his chest up, he was rather proud and confident (of course all because he knew that Tae belonged to him, but it wasn't the same way he used to say it. Tae owned a piece of him as well).
Walking under the arch of the city park had Tae jumping with excitement. He liked getting to see new things, he never really got to see the outside world. "You want to play" Joon teased.
"I'm not a little kid Joonie" Tae whined, but still went to an unoccupied swingset "Push me" he demanded. Namjoon chuckled, but walked behind him and pushed gently at his lower back picking up speed. "Faster slow poke" Tae giggled from up above Joon. "Brat" Namjoon muttered under his breath.
After ten minuted "Let's go do something else" Namjoon said grabbing the chains and quickly stopping Tae's protests. " let's go see the lake" Joon suggested walking up ahead "I'm gonna beat you" he said playfully.
He saw from the corner of his eye Tae running to catch up, but his big clumsy foot caught the purple sandbox and he face planted. He got up quickly running to catch up spitting out dirty sand the whole way "Nice fall" Joon said catching Tae's freely swinging hand.
Upon arriving at the lake Namjoon rented one of those giant swan paddle boats. "Give me your hand and step down," Namjoon said giving Tae instructions on how to enter the boat without falling in the mossy water. "That's right now sit down here," he said helping Tae sit down completely dry.
He sat down on the hot white plastic "okay peddle your feet like a bike and we will go" Namjoon said starting them off. Tae quickly helped paddle he reached into the middle to grab the steering wheel leading them out into the middle of the lake passing a few other boats.
Tae turned to Namjoon with a really wide smile "We forgot sunscreen" he giggled. Namjoon just now realized that. He turned around and started setting up the sunshade that the boat provided "There" he said leaning back in his seat enjoying the sweet breeze and the slight spray of water.
"Joonie" Tae spoke up as they drifted through the water covered by the sunshade. "Hmmm," Namjoon said pushing his sunglasses up his nose. "You are really pretty," Tae said quickly blushing as he glanced down at his sandaled feet.
Namjoon smiled, he usually wasn't one known for beauty, but he was rather glad that the one he adored the most thought he was attractive "You're pretty too" he said running his hand down the younger arm to his hand linking their fingers in a hold. "I'm so happy," Joon said pulling Tae closer. "me too," Tae said shyly looking up at Namjoon.
Namjoon couldn't hold it in. Something in Taehyung's eyes dared him to lean in and kiss his soft lips. So he did. He gently placed his lips on Tae's kissing him again, and again, and again before pulling back and looking a little breathlessly at the euphoric expression, Tae wore so well.
Tae with a shy blush wiggled closer to Namjoon resting his head on his chest sighing contently "can I call you my boyfriend?" he asked causing Joon's heart to jump paces very quickly. "You can call me whatever you want, baby. As long as it makes you happy" he said into Tae's hair.
"let's start paddling back," Namjoon said pushing Tae back into his respected seat. Grumbling Tae agreed and helped row them back. Namjoon noticed the greying clouds above.
They rowed the boat up to the dock. Tae was on the end so he had to climb in first. "Put your hand on the handle and swing your leg up" Namjoon instructed. Tae successfully had gotten up and looked triumphantly at Namjoon who stumbled over to the side of the boat lifting his foot up to catch the bar. The boat started moving away from the dock only stopping when the rope ran out of slack.
Tae looked down in shock grabbing onto Joon's hand and Joon was frantic because he was on the verge of doing the splits over a gross lake. "Damn it," he said attempting to pull the boat closer. He foot on the deck started to slip.
"Fuck" was the last thing Tae heard before Joon fell into the water disappearing for several seconds. He came back up with a bit of moss on his soaking wet head. They stared at each other for several seconds before Tae burst out laughing. He was clutching his stomach while Namjoon swam a few feet below him waiting until he calmed down before asking for help.
"Tae help pulls me up," he said reaching his hand up. Tae bent down and started to heave Namjoon up. When he saw the wicked grin he tried to let go with frightened eyes as Namjoon pulled him into the water. They both went down with a splash.
Joon floated up with Tae. He poked out first and Tae second, but something was wrong. Tae was freaking out thrashing his arms above the water, his screams turning into gurgles by the amount of water splashing on his face. He didn't know how to swim. Namjoon realized this and swam over to him at top speed.
He grabbed his arm pulling him towards him. Tae grabbed his shoulder pushing upwards to get oxygen into his lungs shoving Namjoon under. Namjoon pushed Tae off of his shoulders and reappeared taking in deep gulps of air pulling Tae closer to his body. Tae wrapped his arms and legs around Namjoon's body. Namjoon was using all of his strength to keep both of their heads above the water. Tae's shaky breaths were hitting his ear as he spoke "I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry Tae"
He slowly swam towards the shore. Soon he was able to touch the ground and he wrapped his own arms around Tae's body. Tae buried his head in the crook of wet clothes and Joon's neck. His cold wet lips gently touching his ear. "I'm so sorry" Namjoon repeated like a mantra. Tae just held onto Namjoon tighter and whimpered "Can we go back?"
"Yes baby," Namjoon said patting Tae's back and they made their way back to the hotel. He ignored the strange stares of two soaking wet grown men carrying each other.
Stepping into the hotel they heard the thunder crack against the grey sky. Namjoon sat Tae down on the extra bed, kneeling down he began taking off Tae's shoes and socks; water spilling onto the carpet. They didn't speak as he helped Tae strip down to his underwear "Tae, you're scaring me. Please say something" Namjoon pleaded looking up from his kneeled position.
"I'm sorry," Tae said breaking down in tears. Namjoon abruptly gathered the wet boy in his own wet body. God they were gonna get pneumonia. "No baby. I'm sorry. It's my fault" Namjoon reassured the boy. "but I ruined your plans" Tae sobbed into Namjoon's damp shirt.
"As long as we were together it was a plan," Namjoon said, "Let's get you in the shower."
That night Tae was wrapped around Namjoon. He arms wrapped around Namjoon's chest and his legs wrapped around his waist. Tae sat his head on Joon's chest. The two were gazing at each other as Namjoon ran his fingers through Tae's freshly cleaned hair. Tae had insisted that Namjoon had to be in the same bath because he was too frightened to be in the water alone. Namjoon smiled at his baby boy.
He had grown so soft. Maybe he should retire after this presentation, maybe he shouldn't even do the presentation and just leave with Tae. They could just live a normal life. He may even be able to allow Tae to have kids. They could just live a domestic life that no one could ever interfere with their business. Just focus on the little things like moving to the right area for the right schools for the kids Namjoon wanted them to have.
"Tae, I want to ask you something very serious"
"Okay," Tae said looking at his lover with the most interested gaze.
"Do you want to leave this all here and go back home and never look at any of this stuff ever again?" he looked immensely deep in thought before answered, "But isn't this your dream?"
"You're my dream now," Namjoon said rubbing Tae's back
"Just tell me what you want," Namjoon said looking at Tae.
