Help

Scouring the house, Nina looked everywhere for Carter.

Upstairs, downstairs, bedrooms, bathrooms, backyard, pool.

Everywhere.

She was unsure why she had even come to Drews, after making it obvious to Taylor that she probably was going to pass. After the last few days she had with her nightmares, the odd encounter with Mr. Harris and now not being able to find Carter to take her home, she was ready to lash out.

Checking one last place before walking home, Nina entered the basement. Which, to no surprise, was also empty. Only the blinking lights of the arcade games near the wall and the silent cartoon that was playing on the theater screen. Feeling frustrated and trapped within the walls, she stared back upstairs.

As she pushed open the door that led back into the kitchen, she noticed that the party had cleared out.

It wasn't a large gathering, but there were enough of her friends in attendance that they couldn't have possibly gotten far, that fast.

Walking through the empty space and out into the backyard, she noticed a few tiki torches lit the area around the pool.

The cool air penetrated the shortness of her cheer skirt, which she had not taken off.

"God, I cannot get over those uniforms," the voice lusted from behind her.

Turning, Nina frowned. More confused than startled at who she saw in front of her.

"Mr. Harris?"

Casually, he strolled towards her, "We have to stop meeting like this," he leaned down into her ear, his warm breath soothing her from the cold, "Someone might get the wrong idea," Utterly shocked by his inappropriate behavior, Nina backed away. A gust of wind blew between them and she sucked in a sharp breath.

"You look a bit cold, maybe I can help you with that," he offered.

With one swift motion, he yanked Nina up by her arm. He then grabbed the back of her neck with such force, it made project a noise that was almost unhuman. Chunks of hair were tangled in his strong hands, causing a burning sensation all over her scalp.

Not wasting any more time, Mr. Harris forced her head under the warm water of the hot tub near them.

keeping her eyes wide open, the chlorinated water burned. Thrashing around, fighting to get back to the surface, Mr. Harris didn't let up with his grip. The water that burned her eyes was now burning her throat as she began to swallow it.

A harsh cough emitted from her throat as she startled awake, hands white knuckled on her leather steering wheel.

Nina was parked in her driveway, with her uniform still on as her headlights shinned back into her windshield, reflecting off of the garage door.

She hasn't remember how she got home, but her fatigue had now put her in dangerous situations, such as falling asleep at the wheel.

Sucking in a breath as she carefully got out of her car, she knew that she needed help.

What if she had fallen asleep while driving?

Making her way into her house, the light in Gavin's study illuminated the first floor hallway. Feeling a bit torn and defeated, she staggered to the door, pushing it open.

Her father sat in his over-sized leather chair, his small reading glasses were high on his face as he looked to be gluing the last piece onto a scale model.

"Dad," Nina reached out with a shake in her tone.

Not wanting to damage his art, Gavin slowly looked up, "What's up," his tongue stuck out in precision as he help the glue in place.

"I'm scared," she admitted with a whimper, no longer feeling it was a difficult thing to say.

Gavin stopped what he was doing immediately. Moving around the table, his work clearly no longer a priority as his large arms reached for her. His warm and safe embrace allowed her to relaxed for a moment, bringing her back to reality from the nightmare she had just had.

If things were this bad, how much worse could they get?
