Rafael walked through the quiet empty hallways of RedView labs, it was his first day working here. To be honest.. it was awfully quiet.. but quite clean and tidy for a laboratory.

"This place is...nice.."

Rafael said, walking towards his boss's office, adjusting his new lab attire.

The halls were decorated with rule posters, the lab seemed awfully.. innocent.

He paced towards the metal door, opening it by scanning a key card.

The office was elegant, it appeared to be laid out with bookshelves filled with redacted documents, as well as a desk in the center. At the opposite side of the desk, Sir Alexander sat, monitoring the halls through his many cameras and TV screens. He looked up at Rafael.

"Good Morning, Rafael. Ready for your first day here?"

"Yes, Sir!"

"Good. Since it's your first day here, I won't give you many tasks. For today, make sure to patrol the halls and check to see if anything is up with the containment area."

Sir Alexander said, waving his hand dismissively.

"Alright..! Uh.. good talk then..?"

"..."

"I'll.. just.. get to it.."

Rafael left, walking out the door

"Odd.."

He said quietly to himself, before leaving to complete his given task

Rafael walked through the containment areas, focusing on them and not paying attention to his surroundings

"I'm working laaaateeee.. cause I'm a si-"

A voice mumbled, before bumping into Rafael

"AH!"

"Ow-!"

Rafael looked up at the person, they appeared to be a girl. The name tag on her lab coat said:

[DR. ESTHER]

"Uh are you alright-? Uhm.. I don't think I've seen you around here before.. you new....? Uh.. Dr.. Rafael?"

Esther said, looking at Rafael with a mix of curiosity and nervousness. She appeared to be holding the hand (or paw) of a small green-ish creature, it looked up at Rafael curiously.

Rafael quickly answered, not wanting to appear rude or anything.

"Y-Yeah..also ..I'm so so sorry for bumping into yo-"

"It's fine! Don't worry about it!"

"Uhm alright.."

"But anyways, my name is Esther! Or.. Dr. Esther... But you can call me Esther!"

"Uh alright, Esther. Nice to meet you I suppose.."

"That's alright- but if you'd like, I can show you around the place..?"

"If you want! Hey wait.. didn't you have a green looking cat.. rabbit.. thing with you..?"

"What..? Uh Leafy? Yeah he's right he-"

Esther looked down only to see the spot where Leafy should have been... empty, and just as they realized, the power cut off. Leaving the lab in a dark blackout.

"...Shit-.."

Esther muttered

"Uhh is this normal!?"

Rafael replied, frantically looking around the dark hallway.

"My God- I'm so sorry this happened on your first day Rafael.. Uhm I'm gonna have to go switch on the backup generator!! Dang you Leafy for chewing on the electrical wires again.. just please don't be dead-!"

Esther said, before sprinting off. Although she stopped for a brief moment

"AND TRY TO AVOID THE JACKALO-MIMICS, THEY'RE LIKE PESTS!!"

"THE WHAT!?"

Rafael yelled back, what the hell was a jackalo-mimic..? But before he could get an answer, Esther left and faded away into the darkness

"Dammit.."

Rafael grabbed his flashlight, looking around, before walking the other direction, remembering his objective.

He shone the flashlight at the containment cells and large windows showing into a large size aquarium, hundreds of glowing green eyes stared back, inspecting his every move.

He continued on, trying to ignore the sense of vulnerability he felt while alone in the dark, and the possibility of running into one of the escaped EP's.. if there was any.

Finally, after what felt like hours, the lights flickered back on. Rafael switched off his flashlight to preserve the battery for later.

The halls were eerily quiet, the only source of noise was Rafael's quiet breathing and footsteps echoing throughout the empty halls, the occasional sound of claws scraping against the glass of the tanks. He let out a shaky sigh, attempting to calm his nerves.

"Y-You- can..do this...It's okay. You can-"

He uttered, before hearing unintelligible words that weren't his own. He quickly looked forward only to see.. a scientist..? No..

They looked tall, their hair was brown and long, they were wearing a lab coat but instead of the blue shirt required under it.. it was.. purple?

The person turned around and it looked like..

Rafael?

No no no..

That's not Rafael..

But keep in mind its only the prologue so it wont be as long as the other chapters!!!
