18. Waves
"Get him. Get him..."
My teeth ground together once more, sucking in a huge breath while I locked my muscles into place and kept completely still. We couldn't have been in Allison's Mazda for more then ten minutes and yet it felt like an eternity as that pestering voice once again reared its head.
It seemed to grow louder, bouncing off my skull and scaring the inner depths of my cells with its demanding tone. I don't know what the hell was happening, but it wasn't anything I needed in the moment. Ever since we had devised the plan to come to the loft, to have Sheriff enter first and hope to get his son back, I hadn't been able to shut this pestering voice out of my head. Whoever it was kept constantly repeating the words in my mind, screaming them until I would submit to their wrath because I knew exactly what they wanted me to do.
They wanted me to kill Stiles, or at least void Stiles.
"FINISH IT"
This time it managed to get me to jump, my tightened fists releasing themselves as I massaged my temples and sucked in cold air to distract myself.
"Imelda, you okay?" Allison's soft voice reminded me I wasn't alone and my plan to keep this away from anyone else blew away as the pain intensified and her eyes clearly indicated they had caught the last of my struggle.
"Why do you think I wouldn't be?" I snapped, turning away from her and looking out the window to hopefully dull the pain. I wasn't trying to be mean, in fact, I hadn't even realized just how lethal my words had escaped but the ringing in my ears was stopping me from actually giving a shit in the moment.
"Well for one your eyes are shifting," Allison answered without missing a beat, her gaze having shifted towards me entirely.
Confused and quite frankly scared my fingers automatically flipped the sun visor down, unclasping the mirror quickly so I could check my eyes. Sure enough my natural brown hued eyes were replaced with the bright silver I'd been an expert at controlling. This had never happened to me, I'd never had problems with my control. I was the one who had learned quickly, I was the one who had it under control and yet here I was.
Panic set in, little beads of sweat falling down my hairline while I tried to swallow. There was something bad happening, something I wasn't able to control.
I wanted to scream, pushing my hands into my scalp. "No, no, no."
"Imelda, hey. Mel," Allison attempted to calm me down. Slowing down as she continued to drive. I couldn't breathe, all that I was able to understand was the echoing screams inside my skull.
"They want me to kill him. They want me to kill him Allison. They want him gone." My words were barely above a whisper as I desperately attempted to get her to understand.
The car stopped, my forehead bumping gently against the window.
"Who? Who wants you to kill him?" She questioned, pulling my hands away from my face quickly.
"The kitsunes. The Oni," I answered truthfully. It was all of them, it had to be them. There was no one else that would push me this far. "It's Noshiko... she's done something to me. She's forcing me to do this... you need to stop me."
My door whipped open, the seatbelt catching me as I practically tumbled out. Quickly I pulled myself out of the car, pushing the person out of my way so I could get fresh air into my lungs and hopefully gain more power over my own body. No such luck it turned out as I was yet again met with the same intense pain. I could feel my body yearning to run up the stair and towards void Stiles. I knew I could beat him, the offer very tempting. The voices were promising to stop the pain and torment if I did as I was told but I refused.
A growl of pity agony and anger escaped my lips.
"What the hell is happening to her?" Derek yelled out, his green eyes widening when I growled right at him.
"Noshiko," Alison explained, getting out of the car and rounding the corner. "She's controlling her, Imelda's fighting her but the closer she gets to Stiles the less power she will have."
"Someone needs to stay here with her then," Derek offered.
I grit my teeth walking towards the nearest wall and sighing heavily. "No. Just go. I'll be fine."
Argent and the sheriff neared, staring at us while Alison contemplated my words. I knew what she was thinking, leaving me by myself while I wasn't in control was definitely dangerous. What was the other options though? Saving Stiles was the priority, there was nothing else that mattered. I nodded at her, letting her know it was okay and I would hold off as long as I could. The screams were now practically blocking any noise, making it extremely difficult to concentrate especially when my teeth were itching to elongate.
"Sheriff you're up," Alison spoke aloud, calling the shots while I leaned against the nearest wall and held myself up by the metal rod. My eyes were quickly switching between one another, the pull becoming more and more unbearable.
They all began walking down the corridor, Alison the last to go. She hadn't moved, watching me while I huffed angrily and kept my muscles locked tightly.
"I'm sorry," she whispered, jumping at me and locking my right wrist to the metal radiator attached to the building.
I didn't complain, feeling the power inside me grow in anger at my restraints. It wasn't enough, it wouldn't be enough so I grabbed one of her arrows slung across her back. Before Allison could stop me I stabbed it right into my abdomen, letting out a bloodcurdling scream as the sweat dripped downwards.
"What the hella are you doing!" She yelled at me, attempting to pull it out. I pushed her hands away, digging it in deeper and holding in a scream.
Allison screamed right after me, attempting to get it right out of me while I pushed her back and shook my head at her, "it's fine. Save him Allison. Save him before I can get to him."
The huntress ran down the halls without another word. Leaving me to finally struggle with my own pull.
I growled aloud, my hands automatically yanking at the steel cuffs even when the movement only made the pain run throughout me. I knew I could snap them in seconds, I knew thats what she wanted but I couldn't let it happen. It was tempting though, the appeal to finish my task was growing stronger. However being in pain was dulling the need.
I could hear the struggle going on inside and my heart raced on as I dropped to the ground and cradled the arrow inside my stomach. Blood was pooling inside my mouth, forcing me to throw it up while I waited for the ordeal to be over. It was the worst pain imaginable and I had no clue how I kept from constantly screaming but I needed to know what was going inside.
"Come on Imelda." I repeated a mantra to myself. The tears of pain were slowly beginning to take over my vision and I wiped furiously at them. My eyes wanted to close, I could feel my body growing tired as I reminded myself to breathe through the blood.
Screams and gunshots ensued quickly, scaring me straight up in my sitting position. I knew things weren't going in our favor I could just feel it, nothing was working out for us. I was scared out of my goddamn mind which wasn't good because all I wanted to do was kill Stiles, I wanted to save my friends. This was Stiles though, Stiles was my friend and I needed to save him.
"KILL HIM!"
"Shut up!" The words leaving my mouth involuntarily as the voice practically cracks my skull.
"Well isn't this a pleasant gift," Stiles dark toned voice startled me, a scream of pain following my movements. He laughed, relishing in my pain. "That's music to my ears."
"What did you do to them!" I whispered through my pain, the words cutting at my stomach like knives. I couldn't focus, I didn't know if anyone was still alive.
"Relax megami," he spoke. The accent in his tone foreign. "Your friends have lived. They are okay, although I can't say the same for you."
There was no space to push myself away from his hand that went to grip at my throat, a whimper escaped my lips as for the first time I was actually vulnerable. This wasn't me, I was never the victim.
When his hand touched my neck he jumped back, an uncomfortable hot burning sensation forcing him to jump back in shock. His hand had been burned, he wasn't able to touch me. Why wasn't he able to touch me?
The nogitsune looked at his hand, the skin bright red on his bare palm as he smiled and tightened it into a fist. "Well that's different... you've advanced my little Imelda. No matter, I can still cause you pain. And before you know it I'll get better."
He didn't waste a second taking the arrow and twisting it in my stomach, a bloodcurdling scream rivaling Lydia's powerful banshee yells as he continued to twist it in laughter. I could feel the fight going out in me, the will to live going away as my intestines began to twist and cut.
"See you soon..."

"Turn right onto Lincoln Road and continue for half a mile." The automated voice of Lydia's navigation system aggravated my already agitated mood. I don't know why I was dragged out here and I don't know why I had even come. I was in a bad mood and all I wanted to do was look for Stiles body so I could kick the nogitsune straight out.
Since yesterday I was barely out of anyone site, Scott having found me and then driven me to see Deaton who was concerned about the internal bleeding. I was fine however, my powers having kicked in the moment I woke up, well, at least the external parts of me were okay. On the inside I felt like a goddamn mess. How had I been so stupid? I was terrified over the control Kira's mom had over me. I didn't want to kill Stiles.
"You at least going to tell me where we're going?" Aiden's head popped through the space between the drivers and passenger seat. Blue eyes switching from Lydia and I. "You know where we are going Imelda?"
"I'm as blank as you buddy," I mumbled back with a monotone voice. Clearly both of them knew I didn't want to be here, that didn't stop them from dragging me out of the house. Lydia threatened to have Aiden carry me, and as much as I wanted to participate in being the third wheel for this relationship (note the sarcasm) I wasn't one to be carried.
"I need to check on something." Lydia finally answered him. Her green eyes flickering towards me momentarily. "You could at the very least crack a smile. I'm buying you food afterwards."
"Actually I'm buying the food afterwards." Aiden cut in, and then lifted one of the papers From the pile of folders Lydia had thrown into the back of the car with him. "Who is Malia Tate?"
I sighed, knowing where this was going. "It's Mah-leah. "
"And you don't need to worry about it." Lydia finished off, snatching the paper from his hands with the one hand not on the wheel, she ignored my raised eyebrow her way.
"Turn right onto Harmon Street and stay right..." The automated voice once again spoke, a little too loud for my sensitive ears as I hissed at the annoying devices
"We're almost there," Lydia assured me when she heard my hiss.
"Well, I'm actually a little worried we're totally lost." Aiden suddenly cut in, looking between us at the road ahead.
Lydia beat me to the question, "Why do you think that?"
"Cause you just made your fourth right. And four rights make a circle." He pointed out, gaining my attention as I looked up towards the streets. He was right, we'd passed this probably dozens of times.
"I did not. Did I?" Lydia questioned, slowing down so she could look at us.
"I think your GPS is broken," I mumbled, looking down briefly to the illuminated screen.
"It's a brand-new car. The GPS was fine before." She responded, our eyes meeting together as we tried to figure out just what the hell was going on.
"Maybe the GPS would work better if it was on." Aiden commented.
"What? What did you say?" I questioned, turning back to the screen to see it was off. There was no sign of it having briefly been on. "It was on... I saw it."
"I heard it," Lydia commented staring back at the black screen while I nodded my head to agree with her point.
"You guys okay?" Aiden asked concerned as the car came to a screeching halt.
My heart jumped into my throat, the need to shift suddenly overtaking my senses. This wasn't right... I'd felt this before and it wasn't right... it wasn't good.
"I need to stop right now." My best friend spoke, pulling into an empty lot.
"No," I mumbled desperately. "Don't do it. I can't hold it in..."
I knew what they would find, I could hear the voices screaming in the back of my head to finish my task. All before Lydia had even stopped the car I was already jumping out of the car, running right to Stiles limp body on the ground. Even before I got past the car Aiden was there, his arms wrapped around my body like a vice grip. I growled, thrashing against his hold as the bloodthirsty screams demanded I finish it all.
"IMELDA!" Aiden yelled, lifting me into the air when I kicked. I was going to get out of his hold, I knew I would.
"STOP! MEL! STOP!" Lydia appeared in front of me, blocking my view of Stiles who hadn't moved. Her green eyes were frantic, pale fingers digging into my scorching temple. The cold temperature of her digits stopping my struggle as she forced my silver gaze to stare back at her. "Mel, you're stronger then this. Hey... look at me. This will not define you, she cannot control you."
I couldn't move, partially because every part of me... the real me did not want to hurt my best friend. I couldn't and wouldn't hurt the one person I vowed to protect.
"Breathe," I heard Aiden speak as he slowly released the hold on me to give me some space.
"Better?" Lydia questioned, her green eyes winding down from the adrenaline rush I had surely induced.
Nodding I took a deep breath and looked down to see Aidens arms were now just gripping my arms. "Go check on Stiles... the real Stiles."
She nodded, turning around and lowering herself to the ground to the ground.
"Is he okay?" I asked timidly. "Is he alive?"
"He's hurt, but breathing... we need to get him to Scott." She answered, her voice raising all different flags in me. Although the pain to attack was there I knew concentrating on keeping our Stiles alive was overruling that right now.
"Call Scott. Get him here now," I ordered either of them, my strength lessening as I kept the demon inside me locked tight.

"The couch, put him on the couch." Scott called to Aiden as he brought Stiles in carefully. I could tell it was taking everything in him not to bump him against something. He just looked so frail, lifeless. How was he surviving?
"Guys, this is crazy. He needs to be in the hospital." Melissa questioned as she quickly did a once over Stiles. I couldn't agree with her more, however I knew that would do no good.
Scott from behind me clearly had the same though, "Mom, remember what happened last time he went to the hospital?"
He'd held me down since we had arrived to his house seeing as how when I got near Stiles everything in me would want to attack him. We'd been driving here in seperate cars with Aiden and Scott in my boyfriends car and Lydia driving me the rest of the way here. I had kept everything in me locked since stepping into the house and reminding myself that I couldn't hurt anyone else.
Deaton kept his eyes on Stiles as he commented, "It doesn't look like he's bleeding. I think he might even be healing."
"You mean healing like we heal?" I questioned, a little astounded at his words. That wasn't possible? Even if the nogitsune inhabited Stiles he wasn't a supernatural creature.
"That's good, right?" Scott questioned when Deaton simply nodded at my question.
"For him, yes. Us? I'm not so sure." Deatons said with dread in his words.
"Well, if we're not going to kill him, why aren't we at least tying him down with really big chains?" Aiden questioned as he stood back. He was right, what were we going to do with him until we came up with the right solution?
"I might have something more effective," Deaton answered. Opening up the black bag he had brought with him. "I need one of you to open his mouth and the other to hold him down."
Scott and Aiden left my side to help Deaton while I stayed back. He was asleep, and no possible way I could harm him. At least the voices were at bay. Deaton neared him with a needle filled with clear liquid, dropping it into his mouth as Scott and Aiden held his mouth open.
All at once he stood up frantically, shoving them all out of the way. None of us expected it, caught off guard as he launched the three men out of the way. I couldn't think or react, watching as they all huffed in agony at their impact. My head whipped around, hair blocking my vision as I looked to see who was hurt until a hands connected with my throat. I screamed, it being caught off when suddenly he tightened his hold and pulled me in closer.
Why wasn't he burning? He had burned yesterday why was it different this time?
My fingers lifted and wrapped themselves around his own throat, the monster in my screaming to be let out. The nogitsune laughed at my dainty attempt to halt him, drawing me in closer with remarkable strength.
"I told you I'd get you," he murmured, teasing me. "I told you I'd come back."
He didn't give me a chance to answer or go in for the kill, pulling me in for a kiss. I screamed into the kiss, burns slashing at my stomach instantly and my hands dropping from my throat as everything but pain erased itself. It felt identical to the one healing on him. Black smoke began to ooze from both him and me.
"GET HIM OFF HER!" Scott yelled, hands wrapping around both of us as the world went blurry for me. My silver eyes springing to life when I felt the pain dropping out of me and black lines take over his face.
Our friends tugged at us, warm liquid dropping from me as finally we were set free and the nogitsune let me go.
He laughed when Aiden threw him back onto the couch, not moving. Scott carried my weight while I sucked in huge amounts of oxygen and attempted to lift my arms.
I wanted to kill him in those moments, I had the chance to. I could have shifted but I didn't... something stopped me. He stopped me.
"Kanima venom," he spoke like a game. Relaxing into the pillows and looking around. "Nice touch."
"You alright?" Aiden swiveled around to look at me, stepping near me when I weakly nodded my head.
"You know how they say that twins get a feeling when the other one's in pain? You didn't lose that talent, too, did you? Oh, I hope not. You're going to need it." The nogitsune once again commanded attention from us all. Aidens head springing back up at the mention of his brother. I gulped, worried beyond belief when I realized I couldn't feel anything. I couldn't feel either of them. The Nogitusne grew irritated with our reaction, sighing. "Okay, I'll give a little hint. Ethan's at the school."
Aiden turned towards me, I nodded, knowing that he needed to go see his brother. "Go. I'll be fine. Go save your brother."
"But..." he tried to counter although I could tell it was halfhearted.
"Aiden go," I said in a much stronger voice although it took a great deal of my energy.
He left abruptly, leaving only a laughing fox in our wake as he relished in what little chaos he had started in the moments he had been here.
"Oh, I hope he gets there in time. I like the twins. Short tempers. Homicidal compulsions. They're a lot more fun than you bakemono trying to save the world every day." He commented still chuckling at his antics.
"Doc, you brought something to paralyze his body. You got anything for his mouth?" Melissa questioned, clearly she was fed up with his voice.
"Yes, I do." Deaton eagerly got to work setting duct tape on his mouth.
Scott carried me away, my eyes sucked into void Stiles who kept his dark gaze on me. The purple bags under his eyes much more pronounced as he laughed against the tape.
My boyfriend set me on the kitchen table, stepping between my legs so he could lift my shirt and check my wound. Lydia's hands tilted my neck, examining the deep bruises forming there. I let them do this all while I kept a steady gaze on the nogitsune as for the first time I felt real fear set in.
"Hey," Scott questioned, gaining my attention and blocking out the relentless laugh. "How did you stop? How did you stop from killing yourself?"
I swallowed thickly, revealing. "I didn't. He did, he took it away."
"Why aren't you healing?" Lydia went on, checking between the cut at my stomach and the bruises on my neck. "At the rate you heal it should all be gone. It stopped bleeding but it's not gone."
"He took that from me," I murmured. My eyes briefly catching site of the dark fox who only laughed, realizing that I had figured it out. "He sucked it out of me."
