seven.
"Noah!"
The girl sighed, she apparently was not doing an adequate job avoiding a certain bug boy, "Can we please talk?"
"Nothing to talk about Parker."
"-Please Noah, I know I screwed up, and I'm sorry."
"You did, in fact screw up, but can we please just not talk about it." she spoke dryly, and then dropped her tone to a whisper, "It was just a kiss Peter, a blip in our lives really." she quoted Maria hoping that if she said it would feel more true.
"So we're ok then?" he asked, "Yeah, I guess." Noah shrugged, "I have a Spanish quiz, so talk later, Parker."
Noah walked in the opposite direction of Peter quickly, "Noah! Wait up!" Maddie's voice echoed through the air, "I'm so relieved that you're okay, I heard what happened at DC."
"What- what are you talking about?" Noah asked suddenly self conscious of the fact that she kissed Peter when Maddie was waiting in New York.
"The monument thing?"
"Oh, right- yeah I wasn't actually on the elevator, I stayed at the bottom, I'm not a fan of heights." Noah rambled, "Oh, well, I guess I'm grateful you don't like heights." Maddie laughed.
"Okay so I know we both class and stuff so I'm just gonna get right to the point. Do you wanna be my date to homecoming?" Maddie asked, and big smile spread across Noah's face, "I would love to."
"Great," Maddie's hand brushed against Noah's before she walked away, "See you later then."
"Oh you've got to be kidding me." Noah muttered, "What's wrong?" Maria turned the corner, into the small living room, "Spiderman is back at it again, Mom."
The Ferry boat accident flashed across the screen of the television, Noah knew for a fact that Tony wasn't going to be happy with her for not trying to stop Peter.
"That kid is going to get himself killed," Maria murmured, "And that is what I tried to tell him. No one ever listens to me."
Maria arched an eyebrow at the girl, "No one?"
"That doesn't include you Mom, I know you'll always listen to me." Noah stated, "Okay, just making sure you know that." Maria spoke softly.
"...Do you think Mama will ever be able to come home?" Noah asked hesitantly.
Maria took Noah's hand, "Oh sweetheart,"
"Don't give me that look," Noah said, "I know everything's a mess as always but I miss our family."
The fourteen year old glanced at the ground, it didn't matter how much she wished for everything to fall into place again, it simply wasn't.
"In other news," she looked back up toward Maria, "Maddie asked me to homecoming! And I know you're gonna have to leave me with Tony again soon, but I was hoping you could at least stick around until homecoming..."
"Of course I will," Maria beamed, "Have you decided what you want to wear yet?"
Noah shrugged, "I don't know,"
"Well your Mama, has always been better in this department, but I can take you shopping if you want." Maria offered, and Noah nodded.
"Yeah, that could be fun," the girl smiled, "I should probably call Tony back."
"You ignored Stark's call, and Natasha and I left you under his care. He's probably fighting for his life." Maria laughed, "Probably." Noah agreed.
Noah hesitantly stepped out of the room, calling Tony back, "Where are you? Are you breathing? Are you alive? And where?"
"Hello to you too, Tony." Noah spoke, "I'm fine, I'm with Mom, she's back for a couple days."
"Oh thank god, I thought I was going to be murdered in my sleep. Your parents are scary."
Noah rolled her eyes, but still could see where Tony was coming from. "Oh! Guess what!"
"You finally accepted your geniusness? No, that's highly unlikely. You grew two inches! Nope you're definitely still short."
"This was not a invite to insult me!" she muttered, "I got a date to homecoming."
"Absolutely not. Nope. Aren't you like twelve still?"
"Tony!" she whined, "I'm not a kid. Plus you have absolutely nothing to worry about, if anything goes wrong I can obviously handle myself."
"I never said you couldn't handle yourself, you just shouldn't have too." Tony stated, "But hey, I think my mission is complete, I got the Noah Romanova-Barnes to act like a teenager."
"I'm sorry that I couldn't, keep Peter under control. That kid has the most unruly god complex I've ever encountered. I swear he thinks nothing can hurt him."
"I think I've got it under control now, Noah, but thanks for trying."
