Tommy and Eris shot each other a panicked look at the voice that boomed throughout the room. It took the brunette a moment before she dared to look up at Wilbur, who stood in the middle of the space, arms wrapped loosely around his chest while his dark features showed a mixture of impatience, annoyance and anger. The smallest sliver of worry seemed to be present also, but was given no priority over the more severe emotions.

Both teenagers couldn't seem to find their voice for a moment, leaving room for Wilbur to speak up again, eyeing the auburn-haired man that still stood beside Eris and Tommy, "Fundy, can you give us a minute. I need a word with Tommy and Eris."

Fundy nodded, quickly making his way out of the room. Eris honestly wished she could follow him, not wanting to deal with Wilbur's anger, but she knew that wasn't an option.

Tommy and her found themselves in this exact position quite a lot. Trouble seemed to be their middle name as the duo created havoc wherever they went, to the dismay of Wilbur and a lot of other people. Eris couldn't care less whether people were mad at her or not however. There were only a few people in the world that could make Eris feel guilty for her actions, and Wilbur, unfortunately, happened to be one of them.

"Talk. Now."

Eris wanted to speak but was cut off by Tommy, "Eris and I burned down Sapnap's house. The bastard deserved it too. Then we ran into Dream, Sapnap and George. So I ran while Eris distracted them. I sprained my ankle when I tripped over some fucking root- which wasn't my fault by the way and now we're here. Quite the story, innit?"

The brunette cringed at her friend's careless words. They weren't particularly flattering and definitely weren't helping with getting Wilbur to not to be angry with the two.

The tall man in front of them did not respond for a good second. He only put his hands up to the sides of his face, massaging his temples slowly,

"You've got to be fucking kidding me.." He eventually breathed quietly but clearly, making it clear that he wasn't pleased with the situation, "You burned down Sapnap's house?"

"Yes, sir." Eris replied curtly, only realising how sarcastic she sounded after the words had already left her mouth, making her cringe slightly.

Wilbur shot a sharp glare in her direction, "Do you have any idea what you've just done. Any idea?!"

The man's booming voice left the two teenagers speechless once again.

"You just burned down Sapnap's home. One of Dream's closest allies. The same Dream who has a signed treaty with L'Manberg that states that he would leave us alone as long as we did not cause trouble. And what did you just do? You fucking caused trouble. I can't believe this."

"He killed my cow, Will! I had to do something!" Tommy interrupted hastily.

Wilbur shot a silencing finger in his direction in reply, "Save it, Tommy. I don't want to hear it. I hope you two know how serious this situation is. I haven't heard from Dream himself yet, but I could bet you money that I will soon."

The brunet paused his rant to eye both of the teens individually, "You just started a war, and I hope you're ready for it."

"Will-." Eris started, standing up from her position at the end of Tommy's bed.

Wilbur gave her a look of warning, but she ignored it, "Aren't you sick of having to be under Dream's rule? He can do whatever he wants just because he could break the treaty and strip L'Manberg of its independence. That's not what real independence sounds like to me!"

The girl's words were heated, totally controlled by emotion, but still rang clear in the air.

Wilbur sighed, letting his hands lower into the pockets of his coat, "It indeed is not real independence. That however does not justify your actions. I trusted you two to not cause trouble. It's quite possibly one of the only things I've asked of you, but you still had to go against me."

The disappointment in his voice hit Eris' stomach like a brick, feelings of guilt starting to swell, "I'm sorry, Wilbur, truly."

A hum was sent in reply, before Wilbur cleared his throat, "I will speak to you two again tomorrow. Rest for now, you both look like you need it."

He started to walk towards the exit of the tent, but just before he left he turned around, "Eret's at the walls by the way."

Eris was slightly surprised by the softly spoken words and muttered a quiet 'thank you', to which the only given reply was a small half-smile, before the brunet vanished into the outside area of L'Manberg, leaving Tommy and her behind.

"You're off to go see Eret, I reckon?" Tommy asked after a quiet moment from behind the shorter girl, who was still staring at the opening of the tent where Wilbur had stood just a few seconds before.

"Guess so, unless you want to do something else?" Eris replied as she turned around, arms crossed over her chest with a small, mischievous smile on her face.

The blond rolled his eyes sarcastically before sighing, sinking into the bed slightly, "Look, I hate to say it. But I think that if we do so much as breathe wrongly right now, Wilbur will go and commit war-crimes against us."

"Right.." The brunette replied, sitting down on the bed across from Tommy, "We've properly fucked up this time, haven't we?"

Instead of having his arms crossed around his chest, Tommy places them behind his head, fully laying down now with a cocky grin plastered on his pale face, "Yes, yes we did. But it doesn't matter. 'Cause like you said; what we have right now, what L'Manberg has right now, is not real independence. And I'm sick of waiting around and allowing some green bitch to walk all over us. I know you are too."

"I am too."

Both Tommy and Eris whipped their heads to the side, eyeing the entrance of the tent to see Tubbo walking in, a small frown placed on his youthful features as he approached the duo.

Eris chuckled before shooting the boy a smile, "Well if big man Tubbo even agrees with us, we have to be in the right in at least some way."

The three erupted in laughter at the comment, their sense of humour broken a long, long time ago.

The teenagers talked to each other for a while, about many things. Some serious things, some not so serious things. But most importantly, they were hanging out and laughing, which happened to be something that wouldn't happen for a long while after that late spring evening.

Around an hour later, Tommy and Tubbo had gotten tired and fell asleep. Leaving Eris to be the only person that was still awake.

After making sure the boys were tucked in well, the brunette left the medical area, looking for a particular friend.

She made her way over to one of L'Manberg's walls before climbing a ladder that led all the way to the top. Once there, she found the person she was looking for; Eret. He was sitting on the edge of the wall, staring at the night sky above.

At the sound of Eris' footsteps he whipped his head around, reaching for a small dagger that laid beside him, only for him to let it go almost immediately once he recognised the younger girl that stood in front of him.

She put her hands up in fake surrender, "Chill out, it's just me. I come in peace."

The tall brunet that was sat down didn't laugh at her joke. Instead he stood up and wrapped his arms around her smaller frame, his arms resting around her shoulders, "Jesus Christ, Eris. I heard what happened."

He leaned back from the comforting embrace before checking out the bruises that had formed on the girl's face, cupping her face in his hands, while tracing the cut on her cheek with his thumb, "Are you okay?"

Eris let a small laugh escape her lips before swatting away his hands dismissively, "Psh-, I'm fine, I'm fine. You should've seen the other guy."

Eret rolled his eyes behind the dark glasses that were placed on his nose, but Eris could still see the small movement due to their height difference, "You are unbelievable, but I'm happy you're alright though. I don't know what I'd do if something happened to you."

"Aw, that's so sweet-, and understandable. I wouldn't know what to do when something happened to me either. I mean, I am incredible." Eris retorted, poking her friend in the side, "What are you doing up here anyways?"

"Thinking, mostly." Eret replied, sitting back down in his previous position on the edge of the wall, "I was working on some cracks in the wall, but now I'm just enjoying the view."

"Seems boring," Eris commented, sitting down beside the brunet, resting her head on his shoulder, "What were you thinking about though?"

The brunet sighed, looking off in the distance, "Wilbur told me what you and Tommy did, and what is probably going to happen because of it. I guess I'm just worried."

Eris lifted her head from her friend's shoulder at his words, "I'm sorry-."

"Don't be." Eret interrupted her quickly, to which she let her head lean on his shoulder again, but significantly gentler this time, "I mean, it's probably the right thing. Because you had a point. We're not truly independent and never will be, unless we stand up against Dream."

The name made a small shudder shoot through the girl's body, thinking about their encounter earlier today. She subconsciously reached to the cut on her cheek caused by an arrow shot by him. The brunet beside her noticed the reaction and took one of her hands in his as a way of comfort

"I just don't want anybody to get hurt, you know?" Eret spoke again after a moment of silence, a sombre look displayed on his features, "Dream is a skilled fighter. His friends are too. So the chances that some of us will get hurt is so likely, and it scares me. I don't want to lose any of you."

"But the freedom is worth it." Eris replied dryly, looking up at Eret.

The brunet went quiet at the statement, seemingly in thought.

"I don't know. Maybe."

A small frown grew upon Eris' features at his response, but only a small one. She understood where he came from, but she did not agree. She would do everything for L'Manberg's and her friends' independence. Even if it meant giving her life for it in the process.

This disagreement in morality happened often between the two friends however. They looked differently at the world they lived in and made choices based on different factors. But this was probably the reason they worked so well together. They completed each other and balanced each other out. Almost like Yin and Yang. Their names even complement the suggestion as they are so similar, but still different.

Often when either Eris or Eret found themselves having to make difficult decisions, or found themselves in trouble in Eris' case. They would always support each other while making sure that what they were doing wasn't completely outrageous and idiotic. Eris honestly felt like Eret was the only reason she was still a semi sane human being, which she would be forever grateful for.

The two sat in silence for a long time after Eret's statement. Neither of them felt the need to speak and so they just enjoyed each other's company while admiring the view in front of them.

Eris eventually felt her eyes grow tired and closed her eyes, still leaning on Eret's shoulder. Before a cloud of sleep could sweep her away however, a nasty feeling overtook her body. It only appeared for a few seconds before vanishing again, but she could swear somebody was watching her.
