After me and Klaus' dance we walked over to Elijah as he had a familiar face beside his.
"Rebekah!" I run up to her and squeeze her in a hug.
"Hayley! How's the night going?" She hugs back.
"Amazing. I mean, look at this place!" I finish our hug and point out the beautiful scenery of the huge room we're standing in.
"Tell me about it," She agrees.
"I thought it'd surprise you if I tagged Rebekah along," Elijah states.
"I sure am surprised, thanks." I thank Elijah and turn to Rebekah, "How's Damon?"
"Evil, the usual." She jokes and I laugh with her.
"And his brother, Stefan?" I wonder.
"Stefan's always been the good brother, what do you think?" Rebekah says.
I nod and turn to glance at Klaus who still has his hand placed on my back.
I suppress my smile given the thought of our dance.
"So how are you putting up with the boys - or Klaus, since I know Elijah isn't a problem?" Rebekah questions.
"Uh, they're not that bad." I claim.
"They both drink a little too much but other than that it's fine," I joke and Rebekah giggles.
"Don't mind that, remember drinking just helps with the cravings!" She exclaims and the boys chuckle.
"Anyway, after the cotillion I'm coming over. I've missed you and we've got to talk about some things!" Rebekah exclaims and I smile, "Okay."
"You ladies care for a drink?" Klaus offers.
"Sure, thanks." I state first and Elijah follows "I'll help."
"Yeah," Rebekah accepts.
The brothers walk away towards the drinking booth as me and Rebekah stay put.
Rebekah coughs, "I heard that."
I arch an eyebrow, "You heard what?"
"Whatever that thing was between you and Klaus. The whole 'always and forever' thing."
My eyes widen, "You were listening?!"
She furrows her eyebrows in response, "Uh, yeah! When I got here I noticed you two dancing together and when I saw lip movement I had to listen!"
"Rebekah!" I blurt.
"I'm sorry, I had to! Who knows, you two could've been flirting! And from what I heard," She winks at me and I roll my eyes.
"We weren't flirting, Rebekah."
"Yeah, okay." She humorlessly laughs.
"Just, keep this between you and me, please? Besides, I don't even know what that was. And I certainly don't know what me and Klaus are now," I whisper.
She sighs, "Don't worry, I won't say anything."
Suddenly I'm startled by a few loud screams coming from the entrance doors.
"What in the bloody world was that?" Rebekah blurts.
I shrug and stare in the direction the screams came from.
Another person screamed once more and I then took off running in the direction the screeches were coming from as Rebekah chases me, "Hayley, wait!"
I run as fast as I can but without the vampire speed.
I don't look back to see Rebekah but don't hear her yelling for me again.
I continue my pace and finally stop when I arrived at a scarring sight.
Four bodies drained of blood on the floor as the crowd surrounding the scene gasp and scream.
My mouth drops when I place my eyes on one of the dead bodies as I come across a familiar face.
"Tyler?" My eyes water and I run to his body lying on the floor and sit beside him as he's breathless.
I cup his face in the palms of my hands, "Who did this to you?" I ask even knowing he won't answer.
Sobbing I glance at my breathless cousin who I'm sitting beside as my eyes continue to pour.
Suddenly I gasp when I feel a sharp pain hit my back, stinging and causing my pulse to race.
I try to reach my hand behind my back to see what's the cause of my pain and I feel a wooden steak impaled in my back.
I've been shot - someone must've used a wooden steak gun and aimed for me.
I hear someone rushing up from behind me - and it sounds like they're pacing with vampire or werewolf speed - but I dont have time to look back at who's running up behind me because of the steak impaled in me I'm too weak.
And suddenly my vision's a blur when I feel someone lift me up carrying me on their shoulder and all I see is blackness.
Someone took me.
And whoever it is they're not human.
They ran up to me with an impossible speed and once carrying me with bold strength. And the blur I saw - was from them taking me somewhere just by running.
Definitely not human.
And the first person I try to call out for help - is Klaus.
But it's too late.
I don't hear a response and besides... I'm not even at the same place anymore.
