Chapter 25: Part 3
Davina's POV:
It's New Years Day, and the sun is setting. I've been in my study for hours, working up anything to practice my magic, only making it more powerful.
It's quiet, and that's abnormal considering the boasting I would expect coming from Kol on such a day as this one. And on the thought of him, there's something I can't help not to think about, something that was promised;
The thought of a dance that keeps creeping into my mind, and each time resulting butterflies claiming their territory in my stomach. And tonight is expectant because the day is ending. And there's something inside of me, a feeling, that something's going to happen. I don't know what, or when, or whether it's good or bad, but the feeling is puny, probably soon to be outraged.
I hear footsteps sounding near, approaching the open doorway of my study.
Just in time, I glance over my shoulder to spot Kol, his masculine arm raised above his head and resting on the doorway he's stood at. He cocks a brow, watching me as I fail to suppress my smile. I avert my attention onto the spell book in front of me on the wooden table, right next to the metal one Klaus' body lays, cloaked.
"How dare you turn your attention on a book," he says behind me. I hear his footsteps near, then his warm breath on the back of my neck, causing me to inhale sharply.
His strong hands grip either side of my waist softly. "Kol, I'm trying to finish up this last spell." I grin, glad he's not able to see it considering I have my back turned to him.
"Come on, Davina Claire. It's New Years, and you're planning on practicing your magic the whole day? Tonight's going to be special, love. And I cannot have you busy all day. Because the last time I checked... there was a certain dance I saved for a special girl, and she deserves the whole night under the stars," he whispers so gently, earning a smile in return. "Now tell me, does that sound like something that can occur in a study?" He asks, I turn to face him, amusement beaming in his brown eyes.
I realize how close he's stood in front of me, and I stand still, not knowing what to do or what to think... no one's ever stood so close to me as he is now.
My lips part, a light trickle of breath sucking in as I gaze into his irises. "No, it doesn't," I answer in a smooth whisper. His body is standing too close - I can't even function.
I take a step back just to breathe and think, but his tall figure follows, backing me up into a bookshelf, causing me to almost trip. He grins, and I gather that he enjoys the affect he has on me. In an instant, yet so utterly slow, he begins to lean in, his strong and structural jawline nearing my neck.
As if he forced himself to step back, I watch his shoulders tense.
"I shouldn't have..." he trails off, and I begin to wonder if it was more to himself, "Sorry, love. It's just... tonight's going to be special, and I don't want to rush it. It'll be epic." He smiles, but it doesn't reach his eyes as usual.
All I can think to do is nod, so I do so. Kol grins just before turning and walking off, then stopping at the doorway to glance over his shoulder.
"I'll be seeing you tonight, Davina Claire." He rather questions than states, as if afraid I won't show. I nod, genuinely breaking into a smile.
--
Two hours later, I've gotten dressed into something a little more formal than casual. It's a red dress, it's sleeves hanging just off the shoulders and the body of it ending just above the knees. The dress clings to my body, revealing my curvy hips, and I'm hesitant on wearing it because I don't want to give too much of a sexy look - that's not me. But the dress is absolutely beautiful, and I have to wear it sometime... so why not now.
I chose to let my hair loose, because of the shoulders revealing, it just seems right.
And the shoes simply belong with the dress: red heels.
Kol informed me earlier in the morning that this 'occasion' would be outside, on the deck, just beneath the stars. And he would be waiting outside when the clock strikes 11:00.
I hold my breath while checking the time, to see that it's 5 minutes until. And again, once I'm ready to make my way outside, the butterflies claim their spot once more.
The affect Kol Mikaelson has on me...
My lips quirk up into a sheepish grin as the thought crosses my mind. Just when I approach the double doors to step onto the outside deck, I take a deep breath.
Pushing the doors open, I gasp lightly when I examine the scenery. The first thing I see is Kol Mikaelson, standing with his hands folded behind his back as he watches me. He's stood wearing a black tuxedo, with a seemingly silky red tie. I can see his muscles through his suit, and I quickly avert my eyes onto the surroundings before he could notice I'm staring. There are lights hung and wrapped around the entire patio, and a small fancy table with two dining chairs on either side. A candle is lit and placed just in the center of the table, my smile widens.
"Kol... you did this?" I ask, barely audible. He smiles brightly, his perfect teeth showing, "Extravagant serenity for an extravagantly beautiful girl."
Without hesitation, I run into his arms, his warm body suddenly pulling me into an exceptionally mesmerizing embrace.
He holds me for a moment longer, my arms wrapped around his masculine waist. That's when it really felt like time stopped, then and there, in Kol's arms.
He gently pulls away to look me in the eyes, and examines my irises a bit longer than necessary. "Is it alright if take this dance now, love? I can't imagine a moment not being able to hold you longer, than a promised dance on a romantic night as this." He whispers, his voice low and husky.
I fail suppressing my genuine smile, and nod before he pulls me closer. I rest my head on his chest as we slowly begin to dance. I would ask why there's no music, but I recall the time Kol asked to dance, stating that we'll make our own music. And the moment is just fine and okay and fantastic and perfect - without it.
Seconds later, which felt more of minutes, he looks at me, eventually beginning to lean in.
"Happy New Year's, Davina Claire," he says lowly, his lips gently beginning to press against my own. And something kicks in, causing my insides to turn with nervousness - and it's not Kol causing me to feel that way. For a moment the feeling is unrecognized, then feels familiar. And it hits me:
Someone's coming. Vampires... original vampires.
Instantly, I can see them, the vision blurry but clear enough.
I let in a sharp breath, and Kol immediately stops, our lips unable to devour on another.
They're here.
I don't realize I had said that aloud, until Kol questions who, his thick brows furrowed.
I avert my gaze from below to his own set of dark brown irises, "Your siblings... Elijah and Rebekah." I say with a bit of distaste.
His eyes darken for a moment, and flicker to the cemented flooring beneath us, and as if he finally heard them with his senses too, he quickly looks at me.
He parts his lips to say something, but instead he doesn't say anything, and rushes off, speeding through the double doors, and into the apartment.
Rushing behind him, I watch Kol walk very quickly toward my front door of the apartment, the door suddenly swinging open from Kol's grip.
Elijah and Rebekah stand firmly, the blonde Mikaelson is the first to speak.
"Finally, I was determined to kick the door down myself," Rebekah begins,
"Hello love." She grins at her brother Kol as Elijah steps ahead of her.
"Hello, brother." He greets firmly, Kol watching with warily eyes.
"Well isn't this is a family reunion," Kol blurts with a hint of surprise and an uncharacteristic tone - worry.
Elijah glances toward me, my body tensing when he does.
"May we be invited inside?"

Hope you enjoyed this chapter, loves. I intend on updating more chapters faster as I did for this set pretty soon!
Comment your favourite POV from a certain character, just so I would know! I know that the Hayley Marshall Series is not only Hayley's POV but others' as well, such as Davina, Elijah and Rebekah and so on (b/c I'm going to need their point of views for my plans to go as I wish). But I'm dying to know your favourite! So comment!!
Love you all, wolfies & vamps.
