②What Did You Hear?

The three boys waited for a while in line to get in. There were a lot of people waiting with them, and Jeongguk couldn't help but observe them subtly.

"Why are they getting in without waiting?" the younger asked as he stared at the men, who entered by only showing a card to the guard.

"Maybe they're VIP or something," said Yoongi.

"And why are there so many men? Is this a gay club or something?"

A few heads snapped in his direction, as well as the guard's head. Jeongguk's eyes bulged once he perceived their vicious stares and darted his gaze down as he clasped hands in front of him, self-conscious.

"Three people?" the guard asked, shooting another glare towards the black-haired boy, who fiddled with the hem of his coat.

"Yes."

"Show me your IDs."

The boys did what he asked, and a dry chuckle jumped out of his mouth upon glancing at Jeongguk's ID. "You're not twenty-one yet."

The younger tensed up even more and stepped closer to Yoongi unconsciously, latching onto his side.

"He will be in a few months, and besides, he's with us," Yoongi said, his tone and look exuding a torrent of confidence.

The guard eyed him with a stoic expression for a spell, but let them get in.

"That's why we don't go to clubs," Jeongguk muttered, clutching Yoongi's coat.

"You can drink something without alcohol, Kook, or just a beer. Don't worry, we won't stay for long, anyway." Seokjin patted his back to allay his fidgety behavior.

The moment they walked further inside, the loud music pierced their ears, and they got closer to avoid losing each other in the big crowd. Jeongguk hated crowded places in general, so he really didn't know why he said yes to going to a club, and specifically this club since he could tell that hundreds of people would be inside from the long line there was outside.

Slowly, they battled their way through the hyped crowd to get to the bar. Although the lights were dimmed and only the colorful lights brightened the place, Jeongguk could tell there were both men and women inside. He couldn't help but think about why those people and especially the guard gave him such a wicked look when he recklessly asked if it was a gay club.

He felt a body collide with his then, freezing his trail of thoughts, and he immediately apologized to the seemingly young boy, even though he wasn't at fault.

"Sorry, man, didn't see you there."

Jeongguk furiously waved his hands and leaned closer. "It's okay," he yelled into his ear to be heard. The boy gave him a smile, and as he continued his way, Jeongguk noticed he was wearing a waist apron and holding a tray in one hand. Working in a club must be exhausting. A frown settled on his features as he felt bad for the boy.

They managed to reach the bar after a rather long time, and they had to wait some more so they could order.

"I don't believe I've seen you guys before." One of the bartenders folded his arms over the counter to near them.

"Yeah, it's our first time here," Yoongi said.

"I'm Hoseok, what can I get you?"

"One whiskey with ice, one tequila sunrise, and a beer."

"We don't serve to minors." Hoseok pointed his chin at Jeongguk.

"I'm twenty-one," Jeongguk ventured to say, or more accurately lie to the bartender.

A sonorous laugh jumped out of Hoseok as he ruffled Jeongguk's hair teasingly. "No, you're not," he sneered. "I can tell it's your first time in a club."

Yoongi pulled Jeongguk behind him protectively and scowled at the bartender. "Get him a beer and don't you dare touch him again."

Hoseok raised his hands in defense as he snickered. "Have a seat, fellas." He gestured towards an empty table. The three boys paid for their drinks and made their way to the table.

"What an ass," Seokjin snarled, annoyed.

"It's okay."

"No, Kook, it's not. No one should be touching you if you don't want to. Don't ever forget that," Yoongi said, voice strict, and he could only nod with a pout.

There were so many things he didn't know, and he hated that. Things that were common sense to someone were unfamiliar to Jeongguk. He had learned more things about life in the last six months he stayed with Yoongi rather than his whole life he stayed with his parents.

"Hey, Yunho, the kid there asked for a beer, but I got him a non-alcoholic one," Hoseok informed. "If he asks why, just tell him that we don't serve to minors."

"Why can't he have one beer?"

"It's our policy, and you know it."

"Yeah, like everything in here is legal," he scoffed. "Get me what he asked."

"Why are we even talking about this?"

"I bumped into him earlier. I want to say sorry somehow." Yunho lifted an idle shoulder. A round of intense eye contact began then, both too stubborn, but Hoseok eventually groaned and replaced the beer with a regular one.

Yunho flashed him a taunting smile as he took the tray and headed to the three boys. He set the drinks on the table and crouched down to get on the same level as Jeongguk.

Yoongi jolted forward, ready to shove the server away, but Jeongguk seized his hand and lowered it. "It's okay."

"What's your name?" Yunho asked.

"Jeongguk."

"I'm Yunho, the one that bumped into you," he said with a chuckle, raising a timid smile from him.

"I remember."

"The bartender wanted me to serve you a non-alcoholic beer, but I got you a regular one as a way of saying I'm sorry."

"It's okay, don't feel bad about it. Thank you, though."

Yunho broke into a smile as he patted his forearm. "See you around." He returned to the bar, noticing Hoseok's intense stare at once, and his vision narrowed on him in confusion. "What?"

"What was that?"

"What?"

"Did you just flirt with the kid?" Hoseok asked with a scowl.

Yunho huffed at his words and shook his head in disbelief. "I can't even be friendly with a person who's the same gender as me?"

"If V sees you, you're done."

"Yeah, like V doesn't flirt with boys."

"Shut up! He doesn't."

"Keep telling yourself that," Yunho sneered, placing three beers on his tray, and bundled off.

The three boys continued sipping their drinks as they gazed at the multitude of people dancing, screaming, drinking, and overall partying like there was no tomorrow. When one of Seokjin's favorite songs started playing, he dashed to the dance floor with a whoop of stark excitement.

They chuckled at his actions but didn't say anything as they both knew Seokjin enjoyed going to clubs or simply partying. After some time, an unfamiliar boy tossed his body onto the couch next to Yoongi, taking them by surprise.

Jeongguk couldn't hear their conversation, but it seemed like Yoongi was immersed in whatever he said into his ear. He glanced away from the two and decided to give them some time alone, taking the opportunity to visit the restroom, too.

"Hyung, I'm going to the bathroom."

"Ask a server where it is and don't talk to anyone else."

He nodded and rose to his feet, scoping around the place in search of a server. Luckily, he managed to spot the kind server he encountered before and tapped his shoulder twice.

"Oh, it's you."

"Can you tell me where the bathroom is?"

"You have to pass through all these people to get there." Yunho pointed towards the crowd in front of them, and Jeongguk couldn't help but frown. "Let me take you there."

"No, no! It's okay. You have work."

"I won't be missed, don't worry. I'll create a path for you so stay behind me. Oh, and protect your ass. Some perverts like to grope."

His eyes popped at the information and he right away threw a protective hand over his ass.

Yunho couldn't help but giggle at how cute he looked. "You can grab my shirt so you won't lose me."

Since Yunho pushed his way through the crowd, Jeongguk didn't have to collide with anyone, and he couldn't be happier. It didn't take long to get there since the server knew which was the fastest and easiest way to reach their destination.

"Thank you, really."

"No problem. Will you be okay to get back to your friends alone?"

"Yes," Jungkook said, although it was a lie since he didn't even see the route they took to get there.

"I'll be around if you need anything." Yunho cast him a playful wink and took off again.

His flirty behavior had Jeongguk smiling sheepishly and slight heat sprawling on his cheeks, but Yunho wasn't there anymore to see it, thankfully. He relieved himself and washed his hands and face. Although it was freezing cold outside, he was a tad sweaty, and all he did was just walk to the bathroom. That was another reason he didn't like crowded places and clubs in general.

The realization that he had no idea how to return to his hyungs crashed down on him once he exited the bathroom. He gulped, anxiety bubbling up from his belly. With a quivery inhalation, he plunged into the masse, touching sweaty bodies against his will so he could slip past them. He truly hated every moment of it.

Still unsure about where he was, he felt so exhausted he veered off from the crowd, frustrated with all the pushing and squeezing. He swung open the first door he found and scrambled into the unknown place, his breath coming in short puffs. His ears buzzed, but he could barely hear the booming music anymore.

He scanned the empty hallway he ended up in, absorbing the dim lights, the black walls, and the numerous wooden doors. Something awful coiled in his gut — something that told him he shouldn't be there, and the moment he heard a faint voice somewhat close to him, he knew for sure he shouldn't be there.

"You know I wouldn't go anywhere else than here."

His bulging eyes darted all around the place in alarm but didn't espy anyone.

"You're one of my favorite customers. Or my only favorite, I can say." Resonant laughs reverberated through the hallway.

"It's always my pleasure doing business with you, V."

"The pleasure is all mine, Mr. Wang."

The sound of a door opening perforated his senses then, making him jump by his terror.

"Who are you?"

Jeongguk stood there wide-eyed, his entire body frosted over with fear which only upsurged when he discerned the petite boy rushing towards him.

He retreated with hasty steps until his back slammed against the door behind him, but before he could say anything, another voice traveled through the hallway. "Of course, the best in town. I wouldn't dare to stop coming to you, don't worry about that."

Jeongguk saw the stranger's eyes grow bigger, and upon hearing another voice seconds later, the unfamiliar boy grasped his hand and dragged him away.

"What did you hear?" he asked, throwing him into his office.

"Nothing!"

"You're lying." He took a threatening step closer. "What did you hear?"

"I just heard that they like doing business together. I didn't hear anything else, and I don't even know what that meant!" Jeongguk's body wobbled like a leaf from his dread, not daring to meet his gaze.

The boy viewed him for a stretch and receded, a sigh flying off his mouth as he ran a hand through his blonde hair. "What's your name, kid?"

Noticing the calming change in his tone, he ventured to raise his head and peep at him. "Jeongguk."

"Jeongguk," he repeated under his breath. "We're looking for more servers. Are you interested?"

Jeongguk scarcely relaxed at his question and set his confused eyes on him. "Why are you suddenly offering me a job?"

Because I don't know what the fuck you actually heard and I can't risk you opening your stupid mouth. He tsked at his thoughts but didn't voice them out. "You seem like a nice addition to our team. What do you say?"

"What will I be doing?"

"Stop talking," he spat out, irritated. "Just wait here. You have to talk to the boss. I can't hire you." He marched off, leaving Jeongguk agitated to the core.

He sent a text to Yoongi in a hurry since he was gone for a while and he knew he would be worried by now.

Jeongguk: Don't be alarmed. I'm about to talk about a potential job. Wait for me and don't worry.
