An unexpected reunion
Despite how vast the universe was, word got around about the paladins and the people who knew them and when Gezrin heard a rumor about her younger brother being alive she couldn't help but wonder if the rumor was true or not. She hadn't seen any of her relatives since she left home, so if there was a chance that Haxus survived then she needed to find him. Ezor and Zethrid didn't mind Gezrin taking some time off from their crew, they understood that she just wanted to see if she still had at least one surviving relative. Searching for Haxus would take a while because she only had rumors to go off of up until she managed to find records of his universal bank account. Gezrin eventually found out where Haxus lived and set a course for the house he lived in on a moon called Yavin-four; it was a lovely place to live and she had to admit that her brother had a good taste in places to live.
The last time Gezrin saw Haxus was the day before she got summoned to leave for central command; life as a cadet in Zarkon's military had been miserable, so she'd abandoned her post and wandered the galaxy until she joined up with a space pirate crew. When Zethrid and Ezor became the new captains, the crew became more organized and more successful. Arriving on Yavin-four didn't take very long, although Gezrin had to question some of the locals in order to find her brother's house; it was easier than she expected and pretty soon she was on her way to reunite with him, little did she know that she was in for a big surprise. Haxus wasn't aware that he was about to be reunited with Gezrin, as far as he was aware he didn't have any living relatives left, so in the meantime he, (Y/n) and all three of their young children were having a perfectly normal day home together. Recently Haxus got a job in the nearby town, thankfully that day just so happened to be one of his days off from work.
“Lookie what I drew, Daddy!” Harlow called out to her father after she finished drawing a picture, running over to him.
“Did you draw something for me?” Haxus inquired as he raised a brow, kneeling down so he could be closer to her height.
“Uh-huh. It's a picture of a kitty and a puppy. Mommy showed me pictures of them and I really wanted to draw them playing together like in the pictures.” Harlow replied with a huge smile when she showed off her work of art; she was proud of the picture she drew and she wanted to show it to her daddy before she showed it to her mommy.
“It's very lovely. Go show it to your mother, I'm sure that she'll hang it on the fridge.” Haxus responded, complimenting the picture one of his daughters had drawn; he had to admit that the drawing was pretty good, Harlow was definitely talented for someone her age.
Harlow felt happy from her daddy's praise, then she went to go show her drawing to her mommy who was in the kitchen. (Y/n) was also impressed with the drawing when Harlow showed it to her, and just as Haxus said she put it up on the front of the fridge where everyone could see it. She was a bit busy in the kitchen and she let Harlow help her put a few things away, meanwhile Haxus had to look for a book he recently bought at his favorite bookstore at the space mall because at some point it got misplaced. He and (Y/n) were so busy that they didn't know they would have an unexpected guest that day, how could they since they didn't know that Gezrin didn't contact them beforehand? When a knock was heard at the front door (Y/n) would have gone to see who it was, unfortunately her hands were full.
“Someone's at the door.” (Y/n) called out to her boyfriend since she didn't know where he was, but she knew that his hands probably weren't full.
“I've got it.” Haxus responded as he stood up and walked towards the front door; he honestly didn't know who would be visiting them, he thought it was the paladins until he opened the door and stared at the visitor in disbelief.
On her way to the pyramid-like house Gezrin felt a little anxious; she hadn't seen Haxus in a very long time and she wasn't aware he had a little family of his own, she was in for a bigger surprise than she anticipated. Once she made it to the front door she looked down and made sure she looked presentable, even though she was only there on a casual visit; just because she was a space pirate didn't mean that she didn't have any manners or care about the way she presented herself. After she knocked on the door she patiently waited, hoping that Haxus was home. Gezrin's heart nearly stopped when the door opened and she saw Haxus; he looked good, but she didn't notice (Y/n) or their children yet. As soon as Haxus opened the door he was speechless; there, right in front of him, was his slightly older sister who he hadn't heard from in a very long time.
“Gezrin?” Haxus questioned in disbelief, briefly wondering if he was imagining seeing his older sibling.
“I come all this way just to visit you, and this is how you greet me?” Gezrin asked Haxus with a big smile, happy to see her younger brother.
“I just- I wasn't- I wasn't expecting you, that's all. I wasn't aware that you were still alive. Please, come in.” Haxus choked out in response, immediately standing to the side so he could invite his sister in once he got over the initial shock.
Gezrin beamed at Haxus and walked in; she made sure to wipe the bottoms of her shoes off before she entered the house and she took them off after, respecting the household rule they'd grown up with and still practiced. Haxus closed the door and greeted her with a friendly nuzzle, he couldn't express how happy he was to be reunited with his older sister after all the deca-phoebs they hadn't seen each other. As soon as (Y/n) heard a woman's voice she felt sick to her stomach as she began to panic; she didn't recognize the voice and she wondered who it was, but when she walked over towards the front door and saw Haxus affectionately nuzzling a galran woman she'd never seen before she felt her heart drop. She always thought that galra were truly loyal to their mates for all eternity, (Y/n) honestly thought she just walked in on Haxus cheating on her. Farla, Huz and Harlow saw the stranger, so they all hid and stared at the strange woman.
“Haxus, who the frag is that and why is she in our house?!” (Y/n) seethed angrily while she stormed towards her boyfriend with every intention of finding out who the strange woman was.
“This is my older sister, Gezrin. Gezrin, this is my mate, (Y/n).” Haxus answered when he turned his attention towards his lover, proudly introducing (Y/n) to his sister and visa-versa.
“Y-your sister?” (Y/n) stammered, suddenly feeling embarrassed from the misunderstanding; she got a better look at Gezrin and saw the resemblance, it then clicked that he wasn't cheating on her.
“Not only do I find out that my favorite younger brother is alive, but he has a mate too! I wasn't expecting you to take an alien as your mate.” Gezrin exclaimed happily when she looked at (Y/n); she was proud of him for finding a significant other, it was a sign that he finally grew up.
“I don't only have a mate, but we've had three kits as well; triplets.” Haxus responded with pride, eager to introduce his children to his older sister.
Farla, Huz and Harlow weren't used to strangers and were afraid of Gezrin, so they hid behind the couch in the living room. Haxus and (Y/n) led Gezrin to the living room where the three of them sat down, then he softly called out to Harlow, Farla and Huz so he could introduce them to their aunt. The three young children came out of hiding and shyly stood in front of the couch; they weren't sure what to think of Gezrin, although they noticed how she looked almost like their father.
“Who's that, Dada?” Farla asked her father with curiosity, being the first one of her siblings to say something.
“Farla, Huz, Harlow, this is your aunt Gezrin; she's my older sister.” Haxus said as he introduced his sister to his and (Y/n's) three children.
“They're adorable; they look just like you and (Y/n).” Gezrin said once she got a good look at the three children who stood in front of the couch; she could hardly believe that she was an aunt, and she could hardly wait to get to know her nieces and nephew.
“Are you a space pirate?” Farla shyly asked Gezrin, remembering how her dada mentioned it once or twice in the past.
“I sure am.” Gezrin replied proudly, answering her niece's simple question.
“What's it like? Have you ever looked for treasure? How many other pirates are you friends with?” Farla asked her aunt with curiosity, feeling a little more comfortable around her.
“Would you and your siblings like me to tell you about my crew?” Gezrin queried; she really wanted to catch up with her brother, but she also wanted to get to know (Y/n) and her nephew and nieces, and luckily there would be plenty of time to get to know them.
“Uh-huh.” Farla nodded enthusiastically before she ran over to the couch, allowing Gezrin to pick her up so that she could sit on her lap.
Huz and Harlow looked at each other, then they too walked over to the couch so they could sit along with the rest of their family. (Y/n) let Huz sit on her lap while Haxus let Harlow sit on his, then Gezrin started telling them the basics about her crew and what their names were. (Y/n) wasn't sure about Gezrin telling her and Haxus’ children about her life as a space pirate, she didn't want Farla to be encouraged to take the same path in life given her mischievous nature, although there was a chance that she would want to do something else when she grew up. Gezrin told Haxus how she came to join her pirate crew and how Zethrid and Ezor became the two captains, and in turn she was surprised when he told her how (Y/n) saved his life after he nearly died in the castle of lions. Farla, Huz and Harlow liked hearing about how their parents got to know each other, but as they got to know their aunt better they enjoyed hearing about some of her pirate adventures.
After Gezrin finished telling Harlow, Farla and Huz about some of her adventures she could finally catch up with Haxus, get to know (Y/n) better and finally spend time with her extended family. She didn't really know about human customs and culture, although she forgave (Y/n) for the misunderstanding when she first arrived at the house. (Y/n) could hardly believe that Haxus and Gezrin were related; she made a better first impression than Haxus did once it was clear that he wasn't having an affair, she was glad that Haxus learned to change back when they lived with the paladins. Gezrin still had some time off from her crew, so Haxus and (Y/n) offered to let her stay in their guest bedroom, and with the wedding coming up she wanted to help them with it in any way she could. She was glad that she chose to search and find her brother when she did, otherwise she would have missed out on attending his wedding ceremony.
