Chapter 1
I.
I let out a relieved sigh as I leaned back against my chair. I'm finally done curling my hair.
I stood up and looked at myself in the whole body mirror and spun around, smiling in satisfaction. Nekoma's sailor type uniform suited me more than my old school uniform.
My phone dinged on my vanity mirror, and as expected it was Yuka giving out our daily dose of inspirational quotes from famous people in our group chat. But my smile was wiped off as I squinted my eyes in suspicion, because the name of our group chat changed. From 'Friends from Fukurodani' to 'Friends from Fukurodani featuring Masafumi Eira'.
Yuka:
"All that we see and seem or seem is but a dream within a dream." Good morning, my fukurodani friends! (* ^ ω ^) and you too, eira. ヽ(ー_ー )ノ
Kotaro:
HEY HEY HEY!!! Good morninggg, my precious kouhais! I don't really get what that quote meant but it sounded really cool! ( ̄▽ ̄)
Akaashi Keiji is typing...
Keiji:
That's a quote from Edgar Allan Poe. And it is "All that we see or seem" Yuka-san. You should double check your quotes before you send them to us.
Kotaro:
It doesn't matter tho!! It's still really good ^^
Yuka:
Oops, okay. I'll rephrase it.
Saito Yuka is typing...
Yuka:
"All that we see or seem is but a dream within a dream." There. Happy? Isn't it inspirational yet???
Keiji:
Not in the slightest.
Yuka:
凸( ̄ヘ ̄)
Eira:
Hey!! Who changed the name of the group chat?!
Keiji:
Yuka-san did.
Yuka:
Hmpfff, there's an outsider....
Eira:
When are you going to move on, Yuka? I wasn't the one who decided to transfer out, you know.
Bokuto Kotaro is typing...
Kotaro:
Which reminds me! It's your first day at your new school, right Eira-chan?
Eira:
Yes, Kotaro-senpai.
Kotaro:
I'm so excited for you!! Good luck! (* ^ ω ^) tell me all about it later!
Eira:
Thank you senpaiiii UWU
Keiji:
You should take Bokuto-san's example as a good friend. Also, good luck to you, Eira-san.
Eira:
Thank you Keijiiii ヽ(o^ ^o)ノ
Saito Yuka is typing...
Yuka:
UGHHH I HATE THIS! Why did your father have to transfer you out EiRAA!!!
Eira:
Pfftt you just don't have an editor for your manuscripts anymore.
Yuka:
I DON'T HAVE A GIRL FRIEND ANYMORE! And you being my *amazing* editor is only a plus! ko-chan is a year higher so we wouldntbe able to hangout as much and keiji is so boring!!
Kotaro:
WAHAHAHAHA AKAAASHIII XD
Akaashi Keiji is typing...
Keiji:
Boring, huh?
Eira:
You can let Keiji be your editor now. He's also a good one.
Keiji:
She doesn't like me reading her works.
Eira:
And why is that?
Keiji:
I don't know.
Saito Yuka is typing...
Yuka:
What dO YOU MEAN YOU DON'T KNOW? (╬ Ò﹏Ó) The first time I let you read my short story you had that look on your face as if you're alreadyy judging it internally!
Keiji:
It's constructive criticism.
Kotaro:
I would love to read your works someday, Yuka-chaaan!! (≧◡≦) ♡
I sighed. What is with these two? They sound like an old couple arguing which brand of shampoo is better.
"Nee-san!" I heard my little sister call out from downstairs. "Breakfast is ready!"
"Okay!" I told her. Then went to type a farewell to my friends for the time being.
With one last look at myself in the mirror, I took my bag on my bed and marched downstairs to see the table already set and the aromatic smell of breakfast reached my nostrils, making my mouth water.
"Good morning, Hanako!" I greeted my little sister as she emerged from the kitchen holding a mug of my favorite hot chocolate in her left hand and a glass of milk in her right. I took the items from her hands and laid it on the table.
"Good morning, Nee-san." She gave me her sweetest smile as she scanned me from head to toe, her smile getting wider as she did so. "Wow, your new uniform looks good on you."
"I know, right? It's even easier to wear this than the uniform from Fukurodani."
My little sister, Hanako, loves to cook so the kitchen has always been her domain. We usually split the house chores in here but the cooking is automatically assigned to her. It was fine with me, I don't even know how to crack an egg
Well... it's because we were born with a silver spoon in our mouths, so we were pampered until I reached high school. We're originally from Kyoto but our parents ordered us to study in Tokyo because there's a lot of prestigious universities in here. They let us live here on our own so that we can practice being independent. But we are still highly monitored by our parents.
I spent my first year at Fukurodani Academy. I was a manager there, that's why I became friends with the volleyball team, but I was particularly closer with Kotaro-senpai and Keiji. Yuka was my classmate. In short, my student life in there was more than I could ask for. And if it weren't for my father, transferring out wouldn't even have crossed my mind.
My father's words shouldn't be questioned. His words held so much power and authority.

"Hello, everyone! My name is Masafumi Eira. Pleased to meet you!" I introduced myself in front of class and bowed, offering them my brightest smile.
For some reason, everyone looked at me in awe. It made me feel awkward so I uncurled my lips. Our homeroom teacher assigned me to the vacant seat on the third row just beside a shy looking boy with blonde hair with his roots showing which was black.
"Okay, let's start with the attendance." Our homeroom teacher announced.
"Hello." I tried to strike a conversation with my seatmate but he only glanced at me and nodded.
"Hi..."
"What's your name?"
"Kozume..." He trailed off, looking at me then back at the front. "Kenma..."
"Ah... Kenma, huh? Uh sorry, do you prefer me to call you Kozume?"
"It's okay. It doesn't matter..."
"Okay, then I'll just call you Kenma. Nice to meet you."
"You, too."
I just smiled then shifted my attention back at our homeroom teacher. He looked really uncomfortable or maybe he was just really shy.
Tetsurou.
It was library period at the moment. I fetched Kenma from his class so that I can take a look at his lessons, then help him study in advance. He's just always at his PSP and cellphone lately.
"Kenma, stop playing video games and I'll help you study." I told him, then took the PSP from his hands. It earned me a frown and a pout from the pudding head.
"The quiz is only next week, Kuro..." Kenma reasoned, which made me smirk then shake my head.
"You know, you should study a few days ahead so that you won't cram your subjects. I'll give your PSP back once we're finished in here."
I broke down all of the terminologies in front of him, glancing at him from time to time to make sure he's listening and catching up with my tutoring.
From the corner of my eyes, I saw a girl with curly, caramel locks in the literature aisle. I glanced at her for a moment before returning my attention back at Kenma, who was eyeing the PSP beside me. I snatched it from the table then put it away from his sight, making him knit his eyebrows together in irritation. I chuckled in amusement before I made him answer a few questions regarding their latest discussion from class.
Out of curiosity, I flicked a gaze back at the girl and saw her on her tip toes, struggling to reach up for a book in a higher shelf. My eyes went down, and I saw her skirt hitched up, revealing a generous amount of her slender legs and even a glimpse of her pink panties, which made me frown. I looked around, and it was fortunate for her that no one noticed her panties in their glory.
"Finish your seat work, Kenma." I said, then stood up from my seat, marching toward her direction.
I stood behind her, still oblivious to my presence then looked up at the book she was reaching out. I took it out without any effort, which made her turn around and gasp as I towered over her. She's kind of short, I think she's about as tall as Yakkun.
"Um..."
I took a quick glance at the book she was looking for, then read the title. It was a typical young adult romance novel. I couldn't help but let out a snort.
"Here you go." I gave the book to her which she reluctantly took from my hands.
"Thank you..." She looked away, obviously intimidated by my presence.
She was about to excuse herself but I spoke. "Can I give you an advice?"
She looked at me with a reluctant glint in her eyes. "Um, yes... what is it?"
"You should probably wear tights underneath your skirt next time."
Her forehead creased in confusion. "Why?"
"I might not be the only one who will see your panties next time."
Her mouth parted in shock before her gaze dropped to her skirt and pulled it even further down. Her face was all red from embarrassment. She looked around the library, seeing the people minding their own businesses before she turned her gaze back at me.
"Y-you're joking, right?"
It took my all not to smile. I arched an eyebrow instead. "You want me to tell you the color of your panties?"
"No need! Just don't look at it next time!"
"Oho, there's a next time?"
Her blush deepened. I knew she didn't mean it like that, but she looked so pure and innocent... so much that I was tempted to taint it.
As if she couldn't take it, she just stomped her way back to her table, my eyes following her. I went back to Kenma with a grin plastered on my face. He looked at me in a weird manner.
"Did... something happen?"
I propped my elbow on the table, my hands resting on my chin as I glued my amused gaze at her. She was flustered, and I knew she was aware that I was looking at her because she covered her face with the book I gave her.
"Maybe."
