Guarded
Above is what Violet Parr looks like in Danny Phantom universe. Don't own the image above!
Danny looked at a petite blonde girl in front of him. She looked red in the face and her hands wouldn't keep still. Something that many girls have done around him and he knew that this girl wanted to confess her feelings for him something he wished wouldn't happen. He turns down every single confession a girl had given him so he doesn't get attached to any human that isn't Super. Not that he has anything against non-supers, but he doesn't want to get into any relationship he has to hide a part of who he is and keep it away from his potential partner or friend. He's been there done that, he doesn't recommend it. Especially if they also are hiding a part of themselves that hates your hero self even when they partner up with said hero self.
He watched as the girl just sighed and walked away knowing his reputation of rejection. Danny always felt bad when this would happen, but he only felt happy about being able to go to his friend's side. Noticing that she was once again holding her middle as she bent over herself as she seemed to be taking deep breaths.
He noticed that Violet had been acting differently than she was a couple of days ago, she had mentioned that she felt heavy cramps forming below her stomach, which he was assuming was happening now. Danny knew there was a possibility that Violet could have started her period cycle, but he wasn't bothered about it so he asked her if she wanted to go to the coffee shop for lunch that day. He was glad that she had agreed and asked if he could use her phone when she asked to use the bathroom before she had gone.
"Why," Violet asked suspiciously. She wondered if he could be looking for personal information against her. Not that he was offended about her being suspicious, he was proud that she didn't trust him a hundred percent yet since they have only known each other a couple of days.
"To put in my information on your phone. I keep forgetting to do it." Danny half lied he will put his information on her phone, but he also wanted to do something else with her phone. Violet nodded her head and left for the bathroom. Danny quickly looked in her contacts to find her mother's number before he called her thankfully she labeled it as Mom too. It rang once before her mother answered with a hello. "Hello, Mrs. Parr. I am Violet's friend and I want to ask you a very personal question about your daughter."
"Shoot," Mrs. Parr said in a concerned voice. She never knew that Violet was friends with anyone, let alone a boy. Violet was always alone when the school grounds were covered with other students. Maybe she was embarrassed about their family or just trying to hide it from them.
"Has your daughter ever had a period before," he asked rather bluntly and to the point. "She had been complaining about cramps under her belly and I thought either constipation or period."
"She hasn't," Mrs. Parr said slightly concerned for how her daughter would react. She was getting herself ready to go pick up her daughter just to make sure that she would be okay and get what Violet would need.
"Okay, I was going to take her to the coffee shop and treat her out. I will pick up some pads for her and get her new underwear if she does start while in school today. I use to have a friend that was going through the same thing Crystal is going through."
"Crystal?"
Danny flushed slightly at having used the nickname he gave to Violet to her mother. "My nickname for your daughter. I gotta go, don't tell her I called you."
Without waiting for a response Danny ended the call and cleared the call history thinking that the conversation with Violet's mother was an experience he hasn't had to do before. He placed his contact information on her phone and took a photo of himself so she knew it was Danny. Danny went into Violet's photos to see that there were some cute and funny photos of her family. He misses his own family and hoped that he could see them once more. His heart ached for them.
Violet stormed out of the bathroom looking panicked and pale, honestly, Danny half expected her to have found a ghost. It had just occurred to Danny that Violet was wearing white jeans today and so he did the only thing that he could think of. He took off his hoodie and wrapped it around her waist making sure to cover her front area and grabbed her arm and ran to the front desk. He signed both of them out before they went to his car. Long story short he made the car out of scraps from a junkyard so he could drive around, it was a fight he had with the SRP to allow him to get a legalized license so he was allowed to drive himself places. He had done so many practice tests until he got a hundred percent on twenty different ones before he could take a real one then the road test.
This car was temporary until he found a car he likes, and he was lucky he found one recently. It was a 1967 black impala that he will probably get. Maybe.
Violet was breathing hard and irregularly, she was panicking and Danny knew it. Why was she bleeding down from her crotch? Was she dying? Did she have a cut down there? Maybe she was having a baby? Oh god! She was having a baby, wasn't she?
"Crystal, listen to me," he said softly making sure she was listening. He knew that Violet was panicking on the inside, even if her body language said otherwise. "Breathe for me and I will tell you what is going on." Violet did as he told her to, not sure why he would know, but she trusted the black-haired boy enough. It was a couple of minutes before Violet was able to calm down enough to listen to Danny.
"I'm good now," she said slightly shaky.
Danny looked at her from the corner of his eye to see that she was breathing more regularly. "Crystal, how old are you?"
Violet looked at Danny wondering why he would ask about her age, "I am fourteen, why?"
Danny sighed hating that he had to give her the talk, so just in case he had to ask if her parents gave her the talk, "have you had the talk with your mom?"
Violet cringed remembering when her mother had given her the talk on her last birthday. "Sadly."
Danny sighed in relief. "You are bleeding down there is a reason why our parents have to give us the talk. For what you are going through is your first period and girls are the only ones who have them until they are in their fifties or something."
Violet remembers hearing her mom talk about periods before, but what was it that made girls have them? Do all girls get them or do most get them? Why do girls get them? Violet calmed down enough to let her body relax into the seat, as she saw that Danny pulled into the drug store.
"Why are we here?" Danny looked at her with a rueful smile and motioned her to follow him.
"I don't know how pads and tampons work, but I bought them when I had a friend going through the same thing you are about two years ago. Go ask the cashier which would be better to use and I will pick them up for you, go get yourself some candy, okay."
Violet nodded as she watched Danny walk away to the girl's clothes section of the store before she did as she was asked to by Danny and asked the clerk the question. Soon she went back to Danny to tell him that she would like a pack of pads to have. Danny nodded and went to the area that the clerk told her the items were in. Violet was curious as to why Danny went to such lengths for her when they only met a couple of days ago. It didn't matter too much now because she was glad it was him instead of her fretful mother or her awkward father. She doesn't have an aunt or a friend that she could have gone to and she would have just passed by Danny, but he had taken action so quickly she couldn't even get a word out without showing the fact that she had superpowers.
Danny had her get a new set of pants and underwear in her size so she wouldn't be stuck in the mess her clothes were in because of her period. Instead, he waited for her to come back out so he could get the tags off and pay for the things he got for Violet. He made sure that the fabric she got was smooth and soft to the touch instead of getting something that could have made her feel itchy. Getting the super soft clothes also meant that they were stretchy enough too so it wouldn't feel like she would have to wear the clothes many times to wear them in for them to become very comfortable.
"Call your mom and let her know you will be coming home early to drop your things off before heading out, I will tell the school you got sick." Violet looked at Danny freaking out wondering what her mother would say. "I already called her to tell her about the possibility of you having your period, just let her explain how it plays out and why you have it and you will be good to go." Violet wasn't ready to let her mother talk about periods to her, she would much rather have Danny be the one to do it. She knew Danny saw the look in her eyes as he sighed and nodded his head to the car he drove over to the store. "Just call her letting her know that you are getting out early because we are getting something for you at a store. It wouldn't even be a lie since I plan to take you to the mall later."
She hadn't paid much attention while she was on the phone with her mother, but Danny took her to an ice cream shop and got her a chocolate fudge sundae with whipped cream. Danny got himself a plain root beer float. The small girl couldn't help but giggle when Danny took a bite of her sundae and got whipped cream on his nose making him go crossed-eyed when she motioned to her nose while looking at him. She knew he was doing it on purpose just to get her to laugh and make her feel better after what had happened in school.
Going to the mall was more fun than she expected, especially since Danny had practically demanded that he pay for everything that she would want and needed. She was given a whole new wardrobe, bathroom supplies, shoes, and a couple of plushies. Danny even got her a new rug to place in her room so that she would step on something soft before she would put on her brand-new slippers to walk around the house.
When the two finally finished they left for her place they ended up seeing her father out front having a fit with his car that seems to have broken down once again. Violet fearful of what Danny thought turned to look over, only to see that he had a blue-lit hand making something out of what appeared to be ice. She looked at his eyes seeing that they were also glowing the icy blue that his hand was. Whatever it was he was making was now finished and he handed the thing to her. Being careful to hide what it was that he made when placing it in her hand, it felt cool to the touch. A moment went by and the coolness hadn't left and it caused her curiosity to get the better of her and she had to look.
In her hand sat a delicate-looking necklace with a purple snowflake with what looked to be actual crystals. Her dark blue eyes looked into his light blue eyes feeling her face warm up.
"Thank you, Blue," she murmured. Danny only smiled and waved her goodbye getting in his car.
He was going to be getting Violet's homework and her bag so she could still be caught up with the class. Danny also knew that Violet's parents saw the scene before he left, so he was curious as to how this played out for the two teens.
It wasn't until he got to the school that she had given him a nickname causing him to chuckle.
