Hi! So before this chapter begins I just want to apologize for not updating this book for a while. I was on vacation for a while, and didn't have time to write much while I was there. I am going back to updating on Wednesday's now though, so hopefully that's some good news for you guys haha. Anyways, thank you all for being patient with updates. Hope you enjoy this chapter.

Virgil was the first to arrive in the library later that day. He hadn't seen Patton in the halls, and assumed that he was still held up in class, going in without him and calling out for Logan.

"Hello, Virgil." Logan spoke somewhere in front of him, and after a moment Virgil could see him starting to appear.

"Wait," Virgil stopped him, holding out a hand. "It might be better if you don't.. Roman seemed really insistent on finding out what we were doing, and he knows we were meeting in here. I'm worried he might follow us."

Virgil saw Logan's hazy form disappear, and it was silent for a moment. "That is probably a lot safer. Good thinking, Virgil."

Virgil didn't know why his face burned at the compliment. He shrugged awkwardly, moving away from Logan to go sit at one of the library computers. "Thanks, I guess. I'm probably just being paranoid though."

"Better to be safe than sorry," Logan pointed out. "Do you know when Patton will be here?"

"He should be here anytime now," Virgil said, and right on time the library door swung open and an enthusiastic Patton entered the library. He made his way over to where Virgil was sitting, smiling at him as he took a seat next to him.

"Hey Virgil! Logan here?" He asked, glancing around.

"Virgil thought it would be safer if I stayed like this for today." Logan spoke for Virgil, Patton jumping and turning in the direction he heard Logan's voice. "Since Roman likes to get involved in other people's business, apparently."

"That's a smart idea!" Patton nodded over at Virgil, who once again shrugged it off.

"Just being safe. Anyways, are you two ready?" He asked, gesturing to the computer that he had signed into. The mood suddenly became a lot more serious as they all seemed to remember what they were supposed to be doing there. Patton nodded, moving closer to see the computer while still leaving room for Logan, who also answered that he was ready.

Virgil pulled up the internet, hands going to the keyboard and pausing. "I... What do I even search...?"

"You should probably start with my full name," Logan suggested. "Just type in Logan Sanders. Something is bound to come up."

Virgil did as instructed, typing quickly. After pressing enter the computer took some time to load, and in that time all three of them silently cursed the schools terrible WiFi. When it finally did load the three sat in silence for a moment, shocked at the amount of things that showed up. Multiple news articles all talking about Logan's mysterious death. Virgil scrolled down through a few of the results, stopping at one that seemed a little different from the rest of them.

"High School Student found dead, police suspect foul play."

Virgil looked behind him at Patton, both of them sharing a concerned look. Feeling a hand over his Virgil jumped, Logan moving his hand to click on the article. The website took a few moments to load, both Virgil and Patton turning back to read what came up. The three of them read it in silence, taking a few moments when they'd finished to process everything they had been.

"They thought... I was murdered?" Logan muttered to himself, Virgil looking in his direction.

"We still don't know if that's the case for sure," Virgil said, hoping he was being comforting. Finding out you could have been murdered was likely not a fun experience. "I mean... that's the first article we read, and there's so many more that don't even mention murder. Maybe the police ruled it out later on?"

"Possibly," Logan agreed. "I just don't understand... who would have..."

"Hey," Patton spoke up, voice soft and comforting. "We'll figure everything out, but first we should check some other articles. Maybe they'll say something different."

"Right," Logan said, letting go of Virgil's hand to let him control the mouse again. "Right. Let's look at some of the others now."

****

"I think that's all of them," Virgil muttered, clicking off of the final article and scrolling up through the rest of them that they had checked. "I guess they never found out what happened... I'm sorry Logan. This didn't tell us anything."

"It did tell us one thing," Logan muttered. Virgil and Patton turned in their chairs to look behind them in Logan's direction, waiting for him to continue. "They thought I had been murdered."

"Logan," Patton frowned. "They said they couldn't find enough evidence to prove that."

"Yes, but it's obvious! How else could I have hit my head hard enough to die?" Logan spoke loudly, annoyance obvious. He sighed a moment later, seeing his friends shrink away from him as he shouted. "I apologize. It is just... If I just fell, on my own... Then why am I here? I thought if I figured it out maybe I wouldn't be stuck as a ghost forever, perhaps I could move on, or whatever it is that happens to ghosts. Surely it isn't as simple as me falling."

Patton and Virgil looked at each other again, having a silent conversation. Virgil slowly looked back in Logan's direction, pausing for a moment. "Okay... looking it up online didn't give us any answers. That doesn't mean we have no more options! Maybe..."

"We could ask the teachers!" Patton interjected, both Logan and Virgil turning their attention to him. "They've worked here for a long time. At least one of them could remember you, and maybe they'll know something we couldn't find online."

"I don't know... What if they don't know anything?" Logan asked, frowning. Patton frowned for a moment, shaking his head.

"We don't worry about that just yet. Maybe they will!" Patton insisted. "And... if it doesn't, we'll figure out what to do next then. It's at least worth trying."

"He's right," Virgil agreed, smiling at Patton who smiled thankfully back at him. "We'll figure this out. We just have to keep trying."

"I... okay." Logan agreed. "You are right. We will never know unless we keep trying."

All three of them in agreement they decided to ask each of their teachers about Logan after class the following day. The rest of their time in the library was spent with Patton and Virgil distracting Logan, helping to cheer him up. Logan didn't bring it up, but he truly appreciated his friends being there. He hoped they were right about figuring it out together.

Virgil sighed as he left another one of his classes, pulling his sleeves down over his hands as he started to worry. So far he had spoken with three of his teachers, and not a single one of them was able to tell him anything. He was beginning to worry that this wasn't going to work, that he was once again going to fail Logan and not be able to find anything for him.

He jumped when he felt a hand wrap around his own, looking beside of him and finding no one there. He glanced around the halls of his school where students were heading to their next class, deciding to turn into one of the school bathrooms that was almost always empty. The hand didn't let go of him, letting Virgil know he was still there, and after making sure Logan was completely alone in the bathroom he looked in Logan's direction.

"Have you been following me around?" He asked, hearing Logan shuffling his feet. It was silent for a few moments.

"I wanted to hear if any of the teachers knew something," he said simply. "I didn't want to wait until this afternoon. I apologize."

"It's okay." Virgil shrugged. "I just didn't expect it... is there a reason you decided to just, hold my hand then?"

Almost like he was just realizing he still had Virgil's hand Logan let go quickly, clearing his throat. "I-well... you seemed very worried. I just wanted you to know that if we don't find anything, it is not your fault, and I would not blame you."

"O-oh," Virgil mumbled, cheeks flushing and hands going to rub the back of his neck nervously. "Thanks... I just don't want to let you down, y'know? I know how bad you want to figure this out... I wish I were more helpful."

"You are already incredibly helpful. You were the one to suggest that we searched online for answers." Logan mentioned, and Virgil sighed.

"Yeah, and that for us nowhere." He frowned, once again feeling Logan's hand reach out to take his own.

"It was a start." Logan said. "You tried. You're still trying to help. That's more than I could ever ask for, Virgil."

"I... well, I'm just glad I can help out my best friend in any way, I guess." Virgil muttered, glancing away with a blush on his cheeks. "Even if this doesn't work out, I'll continue helping until we can figure it all out."

"Thank you." Logan muttered, squeezing his hand. "You should probably start heading to your next class. You are going to be late."

"Can't I just stay here with you?" Virgil huffed.

"I thought you wanted to help out?" Logan asked, seeming amused at Virgil's obvious annoyance at having to go to class.

"I do, but... Roman is in that class. I've already had enough of him today, I don't want to see him again now!" Virgil frowned, pouting when Logan laughed at him.

"You also get to see Patton, though." Logan pointed out. "And... well, I'll be there. We could always write to each other, although I do believe you should pay attention to your class more."

"You should have let me know you follow me to my classes sooner. At least then we could have talked more." Virgil mentioned, laughing as Logan spluttered for an answer.

"I-I don't always follow you to your classes-" He started, but Virgil cut him off.

"Yeah, right. Why were you there when Roman was listening in then, huh?" Virgil questioned, still laughing as Logan tried to find an answer.

"I-you-just, get to class already, would you? You're already late." Logan muttered, letting go of Virgil's hand. Virgil heard him walking out of the bathroom and laughed one more time before he followed after him, stepping out and heading towards his next class that was already starting.
