Warnings: blood and a dead body, but I guess these things should only be expected in a story about a ghost
Logan tapped nervously against the side of one of the library tables, knowing he was only drawing attention to where he was and not really caring all that much. There were other students in the library, but it wasn't as if they didn't already know about him. The entire school talked about it being haunted, and anyways, Logan was too distracted.
He felt sick.
Which was exactly what was causing him to feel so nervous that afternoon. He was dead. He wasn't supposed to be feeling anything. Yet here he was, feeling just like how any normal and alive human with the flu might feel. So if Logan was feeling bad, surely that had to mean something bad was going on. He had never once felt like this since the first day he became a ghost.
Some time passed with him continuing to tap quietly in the corner. He didn't really notice when all of the students filed out of the library, soon leaving it entirely empty. It startled him when he heard the door open again, followed by Virgil calling out to him. "Logan? You here? Patton should be coming pretty soon."
Logan looked towards his friend, watching him as he walked over to the chair Logan was in. The sudden movement caused his head to spin, wincing and holding his head in his hands.
"Logan?" Virgil asked again, confused. "Are you in here..?"
"I am here," Logan said finally, sounding strained. "Is it possible for you to lower your voice for now? I am not feeling very well."
"Yeah, sorry." Virgil spoke softer immediately, frowning. "But what'd you mean you don't feel good? How's that possible?"
"I don't know." Logan answered honestly. "It... was very sudden, and strange. I'm not sure what caused it."
"Well, that's not good." Virgil said, and Logan nodded. He only remembered afterward that Virgil couldn't see him.
"I'm still going to try to become visible, but it may take me longer than usual." Logan said, drawing in a deep breath as he attempted to focus. It had become easier since he so often became visible around Virgil, but due to him already feeling ill it was a lot harder.
"Take your time," Virgil mumbled in response, taking a seat in the chair next to Logan. "Just... be careful, okay?"
Logan didn't answer him, but Virgil could hear him trying to become visible. He sounded in pain, and Virgil winced. Still, Logan kept trying despite how difficult it obviously was for him.
"Logan," Virgil frowned, looking towards where he thought Logan's face would be. "You don't have to, it's okay. It's obviously hurting you."
"I-I have to," Logan insisted, ignoring Virgil and trying harder. "It had become so much easier... what is wrong with me?"
"We can figure that out Logan, but for now you need to stop." Virgil pushed, sounding nervous. "Really Logan, you're going to hurt yourself! Be careful.."
"I'm fine," Logan grunted out, and Virgil finally saw him. Only for a second, before he disappeared entirely once again. Logan sounded more and more hurt, and although Virgil wanted to tell him to stop again, that it was fine if he couldn't do it that day, that he didn't have to, but Logan wouldn't listen. He watched Logan become visible again, this time staying for a second before he started to flicker.
"Logan..." Virgil stood now, holding out his hands. "I really don't think you should keep trying this. It's just not working today."
Logan ignored him, flickering a few more times before finally managing to stay visible. They both stood completely still for a moment, before Logan looked over to him with a satisfied smile. "See? I told you I was fi-"
Logan suddenly cried out in pain, doubling over. He was falling, so Virgil rushed forward in an attempt to catch him, not thinking about it. Logan didn't even move but suddenly Virgil was shoved backwards, feet coming off the ground. He landed a few feet away, head hitting a book shelf behind him as he cried out. Hands gripping his head he looked up to see Logan lying on the ground, seemingly passed out.

Logan woke up in a bed.
His bed, he remembered. He glanced around the room, finding it exactly as he remembered from years ago. He felt himself get up without him even thinking about it, going to get ready for his day at school. Logan knew something was off about this, but he couldn't remember what.
Everything around him changed a second later, and suddenly he was standing in front of his high school. He looked around the area slowly, then looked down at himself. What was so wrong with this scene? What wasn't he remembering?
He stared at his feet as they carried him to the front door of the building, making his way inside. The second he passed through he felt somebody shove him, falling to the floor and dropping the books he had in his hand. Since when was he holding books? Where had they come from?
He gathered them up as students snickered, passing by him. One of them kicked his books away after he had almost finished getting them all up, causing him to start all over. He looked up to glare at them, but their face was fuzzy, and he couldn't make out who it was. He frowned, and went back to picking us his books again.
The scene changed yet again, this time finding himself in the boys bathroom. He was looking in the bathroom mirror, and looking down found that he was in the middle of washing his hands. He heard someone enter behind him, but didn't think anything of it.
That scene was over quickly, leaving him in darkness for a few moments. Time dragged on for a while that way, when suddenly it occurred to Logan that he simply had his eyes closed. Slowly he opened his eyes, looking around to find him still in the boys bathroom. What had happened to him? Why was he lying on the floor?
He pushed himself up off the ground slowly, looking around some more. He was alone again. Class must have already started, he realized suddenly. He was going to be late. Logan moved a little more quickly now, getting to his feet so he could get to class sooner. He didn't want to get into trouble. Before Logan left the classroom he happened to glance down at the floor. What he saw immediately stopped him from leaving the bathroom.
The first thing that caught his attention was the large puddle underneath his feet; not a puddle of water, or whatever else you might find in a boy's bathroom. It was a pool of thick, dark liquid, something Logan quickly recognized to be blood. He looked closer to the source of the blood, and found something much worse than he could have ever expected.
It was himself. Forehead cut open and blood pooling out still, covering his hair and the top half of his face. The only thing he could really find that made him realize the body had to belong to him were the clothes that had blood soaked into them. They had to belong to him-no one else in the school dressed anything like him, so of course it was him.
Logan backed away from the body, his body, slowly, shaking his head. It couldn't be, his mind screamed, denying what he knew was true. This wasn't possible!
Logan felt himself slipping in his own blood, falling to the ground with a loud thump. His eyes opened suddenly, finding himself not in the bathroom anymore but in the library. Things finally seemed to click into place as Logan remembered that it was years after those events, and that he was talking with Virgil before whatever that was happened.
He sat up slowly, looking around and finding Virgil slouching against a book shelf. He looked back at Logan, holding his head and frowning.
"Logan...?" He asked hesitantly, leaning forward a little and wincing. "Are-are you okay?"
"I am fine," Logan nodded, standing and making his way closer to Virgil. Virgil watched him hesitantly, and Logan suddenly realized what must have happened. He took a step away from Virgil again, frowning as well. "I... I hurt you..."
"I'm fine," Virgil butt in immediately, standing up quickly and nearly losing his balance. He held onto the bookcase for support, steadying himself and looking up at Logan again. "Really, don't worry about it."
"I'm sorry," Logan sighed, looking away from Virgil. "I did not mean to. I'm not really sure what happened there... I panicked."
"Logan really, I get it. It's fine. Don't make it a bigger deal than it has to be." Virgil insisted, stepping forward and hesitantly reaching out. Logan let him, and Virgil put a comforting hand on his shoulder. They stood in silence for a few moments, Logan going over everything that had happened while he had apparently passed out.
"What... what happened, exactly?" Virgil finally spoke up, looking up at Logan.
"I believe I passed out," Logan said, thinking back. "I pushed you, and fell, and then..."
Logan paused, and Virgil frowned again. "Then?" He pushed.
"I... remembered some things." Logan answered.
"What did you remember?" Virgil asked, still confused about everything that was going on. Logan stayed quiet for a while yet again, frustrating Virgil, who asked him again. Logan sighed, staring at the ground for a few moments longer before looking back up at Virgil.
"I remembered..." He started, pausing and closing his eyes as the image of his own body flashed in his mind.
"I remembered the day that I died."
Virgil and Logan stared at each other, unable to speak. Neither of them were sure what they would say anyways, not knowing what to do next. Before they could figure it out the door to the library opened, and Patton finally walked in.
"Hey guys! Sorry I'm late, I got held up in my last-" He cut himself off, looking between the two as they stood awkwardly, both of them staring back at him. "Did... did I interrupt something important?"
