Patton just barely managed to grab ahold of Virgil's collapsing body, gripping him tightly and pulling him over to the couch, setting him down gently. "Virgil, Virge... Hey, wake up!"

Roman glanced over at them worriedly as Patton tried to wake him, to be sure he was okay. He turned his attention back to Sebastian as he rose to his feet, still whimpering slightly and backing away from Virgil despite him clearly being harmless now.

"I-I'm sorry," Roman muttered to Sebastian, eyes wide. "It wasn't meant to go this way... please don't tell my parents!"

Sebastian didn't say anything to him, glancing briefly over at Roman before rushing back towards the kitchen. Roman followed after him worriedly, standing just outside the kitchen door to listen in as Sebastian spoke to his dad quickly. Roman was glad to hear that he didn't say anything about what had happened, instead stuttering over a lie about getting a call about an urgent family emergency. His parents told him goodbye, and Sebastian was gone quickly.

Roman made his way back towards the living room after hearing the front door slamming closed. When he got there Virgil was finally moving again, eyes opened up slightly as he looked around sluggishly. Roman sat down on the couch beside of him. "Are you okay?"

"Fine," Virgil muttered, sounding anything but.

"Is... is Logan still here?" Patton asked carefully, receiving a head shake from Virgil.

"No... He left. I'm-I'm really worried about him. I can't imagine how hard that must have been for him..." Virgil said, Roman scoffing.

"Hard for him? He's the one who scared the shit out of all of us! I honestly thought he was going to kill him!" Roman said, though he seemed more scared than angry.

"Let's not focus on that for right now," Patton interrupted what was surely about to become an argument between the two of them. He turned to Virgil, meeting his gaze and frowning at him. "Are you really okay? Are you hurt?"

"Not-not really," Virgil shook his head and then winced. "Well, I have a headache, but other than that... I just feel exhausted."

"Do you need to go home?" Patton asked worriedly.

"I could get my parents to drop you off if you need." Roman offered softly. Virgil studied him for a moment, frowning and eventually shaking his head.

"I-well, I wouldn't want to bother them." Virgil muttered, looking away nervously.

"My parents should be here soon," Patton spoke up, knowing he wouldn't like anyone going out of their way to help. "They wanted to pick me up early, so I could ask them to take you too. It's on the way, so it wouldn't be a problem."

Virgil stayed quiet for a moment, thinking it over. He doubted Patton would really let him refuse, so eventually he shrugged. "I... Alright. As long as they're okay with it."

"Of course they are," Patton insisted. There wasn't much else to say after that, and the room fell into an awkward silence.

"I know this wasn't... exactly how we planned for things to go..." Patton started after a while, feeling the need to break the silence and attempt to be optimistic. "But... well, at least we've figured one thing out."

"And what's that?" Roman remarked a little bitterly. "That Logan clearly wants to get revenge if we find out who killed him?"

"No!" Patton said quickly, frowning at Roman. "I-I don't know why Logan acted the way he did, but we should at least talk to him about it before we accuse him of wanting to murder his killer. He clearly felt bad today, I mean, he stopped didn't he?"

Roman fell silent at that, thinking it over with a frown of his own. He didn't want to admit it although he knew Patton was right. After realizing Roman wasn't going to say anything more Patton continued.

"Anyways, that wasn't my point. We've at least ruled out one of our main suspects, which means we're closer to finding out what happened. I know it isn't much, but it's better than nothing." Patton said, shrugging his shoulders and glancing between his two friends. They had to admit, it was nice to know that they were one step closer to figuring things out. Even if they had no clue where they were supposed to go from here.

The three of them spoke nothing about Logan for the rest of the time it took for Patton's parents to arrive at Roman's house. Roman and his parents said their goodbyes to him, Roman telling them he would meet them again at the library after school the following week. Virgil, surprisingly, didn't mind the idea of him being there this time. They both waved as they piled into the back of Patton's car, sitting quietly for the moment as his parents pulled out of the driveway and started on the way to Virgil's house.

As Virgil stared out the window to the quickly passing scenery he found himself beginning to drift off. He didn't realize that being possessed like he had would make him feel so tired. Despite the pain in his head still being there he found it easy to slip into sleep, head bumping gently against the window as his eyes fell shut.

He dreamed of Logan. More specifically, he dreamed of feeling everything that Logan felt, just as he had been doing earlier that day. Somehow in his dreams it was a thousand times more intense, making it harder to tell whether they were his feelings or the ghosts.

He felt anger. An anger that made him clench his teeth and fists, mind cloudy and thoughts not at all logical. He wanted to punch at a wall until his knuckles were broken and bloodied, wanted to take his anger out on something, anything.

Or maybe he wanted to take it out on someone.

The image of a man with a blurred face appeared in his mind, quivering before him in fear. It was him. It was his killer. (But it wasn't his killer, because Virgil was alive and well. So why did this still feel true?)

Virgil approached the man, ignoring his cries begging for forgiveness, saying how sorry he was. Lies, Virgil thought to himself. They're all lies.

Virgil struck the man, once, twice, over and over and over again. He didn't stop no matter how much the man screamed for him to, apologies spewing from his lips that Virgil was convinced meant nothing. Virgil screamed loud enough to shake the ground beneath him, sending the man flying backwards. He hit the ground hard a few meters away, lying still and no longer apologizing.

Virgil froze in place, watching the man in silence for a while. He couldn't be... Virgil didn't kill him, did he? He forced his feet to take him closer, legs trembling beneath him. He didn't have to walk all the way over before he could see all the red pooling under him. Virgil's knees finally have out and suddenly he was falling, falling for far too long and not colliding with anything and-

Virgil shot up with a gasp, head thumping against the car door harshly. He hissed in pain, hand going up to his forehead. That certainly didn't help his headache.

"Virgil hey, are you okay?" Patton asked worriedly, hand coming to rest on his friends shoulder. Virgil jumped, turning to look at him with obvious fear across his face. "Hey, you're alright, it's okay. Did you have a bad dream? You weren't asleep for very long."

"I-" Virgil swallowed thickly as he thought back on the dream, eyes wide. He shook his head quickly, glancing away from Patton and drawing in deep breaths. "I'm fine. I'm... I'm alright, I just..." Virgil turned back to Patton with a frown, pausing to think. He lowered his voice, face flushing. "I don't think I can be alone tonight."

Patton nodded, smiling reassuringly at him, and soon enough he was getting out of the car in Patton's driveway, bag slung over his shoulder that he had gotten when they made a stop at his house. He followed behind Patton as he walked towards his bedroom, dropping his stuff down next to the door and following Patton as he sat down on his bed. Virgil flopped backwards, head landing on one of Patton's many extra pillows, closing his eyes and sighing.

"Are you alright?" Patton asked, twisting himself on the bed so he was sitting with his legs crossed, facing Virgil. He watched Virgil's face scrunch up, shrugging his shoulders.

"I dunno," he answered honestly, not sure how he should be feeling.

"Are you..." Patton paused, frowning as he thought about how to ask what he wanted to know. "Does Logan... are you scared? Of him, I mean."

Virgil frowned as well as he thought it over. He remembered how he felt in the moment that they confronted Sebastian, as well as the dream he had. He remembered how Logan had felt, how helpless they had both been. Slowly, Virgil found himself shaking his head. "No... if anything, I'm scared for him."

"What do you mean?"

"I could just tell that what Logan felt was out of his control at that moment. It was like... he wasn't himself." He tried his best to explain everything. "I know it was still the wrong thing to do. He could have seriously hurt Sebastian, and sure he did bully Logan but... he didn't kill him. And we don't know what he's like now, maybe he's changed. He definitely doesn't deserve to be... killed. So I know Logan messed up, but I don't know if it was entirely his fault. Something just felt... off."

The pair sat in silence for a while, thinking over the events of the day. Virgil finally opened his eyes to glance over at Patton, catching him lost in thought.

"Pat?" He got his friends attention, breaking his out of his own head. "Are you scared of him?"

Patton barely had to think about it before he was shaking his head. "Of course not. I trust everything you've said, and I don't think Logan would ever hurt any of us. I have no reason to be afraid of him. I just... I hope nothing like today happens again."

"Me too." Virgil agreed.

After another short stretch of silence Patton nudged Virgil, smiling mischievously at him. "Moving on to less depressing subjects, why don't we talk about your obvious crush on Logan? I've been meaning to talk to you about it for a while now, but I haven't been able to see you without him or Roman around lately!"

"Wh-What?" Virgil questioned, face warming up. He sat up on Patton's bed, arms crossed over his chest defensively. "I do not have a crush on Logan!"

"Oh, c'mon!" Patton grinned knowingly at Virgil, who pouted back at him. "Just admit it, Virge!"

After a few more minutes of bickering back and forth about it Virgil finally sighed, dropping his arms and frowning. "Okay, fine! So what if I do?"

"You should tell him!" Patton encouraged, lips still pulled upwards in a wide smile.

"I can't do that!"

"Well, why not?"

"Because!" Virgil almost shouted, arms thrown into the air waving dramatically. "I mean, for starters he probably doesn't think about me that way at all. For all I know, he doesn't even like guys!"

"You don't know if he likes you or not! That's why you just have to tell him, see what he says." Patton replied, and Virgil huffed.

"It's not that simple." He muttered, thinking for a moment. "How would that even work, anyways? He's... well, y'know."

"I'm sure you could figure it out together." Patton shrugged. "I mean, we've already found out a way for him to leave the school so that's not a huge issue anymore. You'd be able to hang out for longer."

"I guess, but doing that apparently has some pretty shitty side effects. I'm not sure I'd like to deal with that all the time."

"Well, maybe it's like the other things he does. Talking, being seen. He said those things were really hard and had some bad side effects at first, but the more he did it the better it got!" Patton countered, somehow still always the positive one.

"I don't have anymore good arguments, but I still don't think I can tell him." Virgil said stubbornly, making Patton laugh.

"Alright, alright." He paused, smile falling. "I... don't mean to bother you by bringing this up, but... Well, I really do think you should tell him how you feel. I know I don't know much about how all of this ghost stuff works, but... we don't know what will happen once he find out who killed Logan. If we're going by popular media, which seems to have been right for us pretty far... he might, I dunno, 'move on' or something. You might not get another chance."

"I... I guess you're right," Virgil muttered. The idea of Logan no longer being around made his chest feel hollow. "I'll... I'll keep that in mind, Patton."

Patton was quick to change the subject for Virgil, not wanting him to worry too much about anything else for that night. It was clear he already had enough to deal with, and he made sure to keep the conversation light-hearted and fun up until the pair of them could no longer keep their eyes open, both of them getting ready for bed and soon enough drifting off into sleep, minds still trying to wrap around everything that had happened.
