Nora
Nora Calvaruso was ready to start another year of school. She was a sophomore and this year looked more promising. She kept her roommate, Poppy. They were complete opposites but it worked for them.
Poppy put up with her. Nora was a very straight laced student. She never missed a class and most of her homework was done on the third week of school. She loved being organized and on time, early even.
Nora didn't know what her major was she just loved school. She was okay with who she was. Like anyone has a choice about who they were, she figured she might as well just love herself as she was. She wasn't changing.
Poppy Stillman was nothing like Nora. She was lucky to finish an assignment and get it turned in two days late. That stuff just didn't seem important to her.
She wanted life experience not classroom experience. She was ready to begin whatever life that Fate was ready to hand out to her. She was ready for it to begin.
Poppy was studying to be a veterinarian until she realized how many years that took and now she was going for dental hygienist. She only had one more year. Less if she took some extra classes next summer. She was thinking about that.
Poppy was very outgoing and never missed a party. Nora still hadn't been to a party but Poppy wasn't going to stop inviting her. One day Nora will let her hair down. Poppy knew she just had to be patient.
She burned her incense hoping to help Nora out. Open her up just a little. Poppy wore her gypsy dresses and flower child clothes, that was what Nora called her outfits. Poppy looked like she stepped out of the seventies, with daisies in her hair and everything.
Nora wore pinstripe suits and dress shirts that were buttoned all the way to her throat. She never showed much skin. She wore long sleeves and gloves with some outfits.
Poppy could never figure Nora out but she loved her like a sister. Poppy was getting ready for a party. The first one of the new school year. She was hoping to meet some new freshmen and maybe hook up. She loved hooking up with guys and taking them back to her room.
Nora was at the library anyway. Not like Poppy would be disturbing her. Nora was a great roommate like that. Nora was packing her bag when Poppy jumped out of the bathroom.
"Do you like it?" She spun in a circle.
"Wow! You have out done yourself, Poppy!" Nora smiled. Poppy looked like a wild child of the seventies, just as Nora suspected before Poppy jumped out of the bathroom.
Bell bottoms and a shirt with big flowers on it and one in her hair that matched her shirt. She even had platform shoes. Her hair was down and wild. Her bright red hair was very pretty against the white daisy.
She was very pretty and Nora never understood how she was single all the time. She was very outgoing and Nora was a little envious. She wished she could be like that. It wasn't possible.
"Thanks, are you sure you don't want to go?" Poppy asked for the hundredth time.
"Thanks but I'm okay. I'm heading to the library and I'll be in by morning." Nora winked at Poppy. She knew that Poppy was bringing back some guy.
The first week they roomed together last year, Nora walked in too early, one in the morning, and saw too much of Poppy. She learned since then not to come home after Poppy goes to a party. It was safe after eight in the morning.
"Later. Be safe!" Nora hugged her friend.
"Always! Thanks, Nora." Poppy smiled and bounced out of the room.
