Chapter 16

Vegas had ordered their dinner to the room and fed Pete with his own hands while Pete was still sitting by his side, holding him tightly with his cheek kept on Vegas' shoulder.

After they were done, Vegas helped him to apply some pain-relieving medicines on his body as well as fed him the prescribed tablets to help him regain his health as soon as possible.

"Pete...what happened after you got taken away? Did you get to live a comparatively peaceful life there? Or were your days filled with anguish and pain?" He asked while looking into Pete's eyes with a gentle expression. He wanted to know about everything Pete had to go through, every single misery, every single instance.

Pete chuckled wryly to this "I don't remember getting a good night's sleep ever since I was forced to stay with phaw after turning five when grandma suddenly fell into a coma because of an illness. My days...were the same as always. I was threatened to not talk to anyone because they didn't want me again falling in love with anyone. Each of my activity, online or offline was strictly monitored. There was nothing I could do without Phaw getting informed about it. I was 15 when I tried to commit suicide for the first time, unfortunately though, he succeeded in having me saved. Even after that, I tried to kill myself for countless number of times but everytime I was saved in the most painful way possible. I even thought of killing everyone and running away, but after a point of time, you just lose your will to live, you become completely numb, you no longer care about anything happening to you. Killing him no longer seemed worth it to me afterall, I knew I would be also killed or worse, captured immediately after the incident and eventually started obeying whatever I was ordered. After a point, silently compromising feels safer and better than protesting. Even though the real person inside me never died, it became completely numb. I don't remember the exact details of everything I had to go through during my time there but all I remember is lying in the bathtub with the water stained in a faint blood red colour while aimlessly staring at the ceiling until someone eventually broke in and took me out to get me treated." Pete sighed while burying into Vegas' chest even more if it was in any way possible.

"You...can you...give me another chance? I know I don't deserve to ask for forgiveness after all the things I did, but can you not leave me yet?" Vegas gulped while asking. He did not want Pete to leave him thus was afraid of hearing his answer since he would have to let him go if it was what he wished.

"I can't forgive you immediately...but neither can I run away from you...a second chance? Maybe I can give it to you, but if you fail, I won't help to repair our relationship again. You know, you've always been my weakness, but I can't go back to living pretending as if nothing ever happened, it won't be fair to myself. So sure I guess I'll give you a second chance to restore our relationship that seem to have taken quite a hit in all these years." Pete said in a soft expression. While he was with Vegas, he had always been a fun person who could always give sensible advice and as Vegas truly regretted his actions, giving him a second chance was what seemed the right thing to do to him.
When they were still teenagers, they used to go to a lake not frequently visited by many, and sit together in silence while listening to nature's harmony.
They went there whenever Pete was sad, on the verge of breaking down and even though he had never exactly told Vegas, the reason, Vegas knew how much support he needed and without prying into the matter more against his wishes, complied to whatever he asked him to do whether be it just sitting in silence or treating him to any comfort food, all that ever mattered was that they were together in times of need. And both of them undoubtedly wanted to relive those moments of peace thus the possibility of getting to experience such moments of togetherness again had given both of them a new hope.

"You must be tired. Get some rest" Vegas said while stroking Pete's hair before rubbing Pete's cheeks with his thumb gently. It was around 3 in the morning but Vegas was still not sleepy in the slightest. Perhaps the fear of losing Pete again and the ecstacy of finally getting his lover back were working together to keep him wide awake.

He kept looking at Pete and admiring him. He traced the outlines of his face and the small bandaid on his head and cursed himself inwardly. Finally laying his head beside Pete's shoulder, fell into deep sleep while cuddling him.

A few hours later:

The morning sunrays fell into Vegas' eyes making him stir and finally open his eyes while grumbling about the sun coming out so early in the morning.
Even though he always had to wake up early, he hated waking up in the mornings to the point that as a teenager he had once tried to bribe the principal into changing the school timing to afternoon but found no luck.

Vexed, he woke up and stretched his before looking at Pete who was sleeping peacefully and covering him with the blanket that he had thrown off and was shivering in cold. Vegas played with Pete's bed hair that was making him looking adorable, for a while after which reluctantly though he had to get up from the bed. Reaching for his phone, he switched it on and on the screen was displayed a message from Porsche.

"Did you find him?! Get back home as soon as possible, we've to some point succeeded in convincing him but he still has not stopped the operation, come back soon so that we can resolve this calmly. The more time you remain outside, the more it will be dangerous for Pete." It read waking Vegas up completely. He agreed to the message and tossing the phone aside, went to the washroom to get freshened up but not before ordering his secretary to bring up some clothes for Pete to wear.

Vegas tried to wake Pete up but he was too tired to respond to any of the calls. However, after a while of trying to wake him up, he draped his hands around Vegas' neck and lazily asked him to get him changed and carry him to their house. After which his hold loosened and he again fell into deep sleep.

The back of Vegas' neck was completely red because of Pete's sudden hold that had caught him off-guard making him blush. After regaining his composure though, he brought out the clothes that his secretary had bought upon his order and sprayed a little of his own cologne over it.
Vegas ever since school had been rather possesive over Pete, even though he had always been mindful to not let his own jealousy hurt Pete, he had never been able to stop himself from doing the small harmless things like making Pete wear his (Vegas') favourite brooch that he previously had never even let anyone touch, or feeding him during lunch breaks infront of everyone etc.

He dressed Pete up and carried him to the car inside which his secretary was waiting for them. The car sped up through the roads and alleyways before opening into the bigger roads of the posh localities and finally pulled over infront of the respected mansion.

The door was opened and out of it, walked out Vegas while holding Pete in his arms who was still in deep sleep.

He smiled looking at how peaceful he was looking while sleeping and recounted the days of adoring him whenever he used to fall asleep mid study sessions.

Because of being a year older than Pete and naturally his senior, he had the advantage of being able to help him in studies.
Even though he himself hated studying, he has been a good student always since scoring good marks had always succeeded in making his mother smile and feel proud of him. After meeting in school, they had talked for a year and Pete had been the first one to fall for Vegas and not being able to resist young Pete's charms, he too had fallen for him not much later. And no matter how much he had hated school, there were a number of joyful and bitter memories attached to the place.

Porsche and Tankhun were standing in the hall looking somewhat tensed and visibly relaxed upon seeing Pete safe.
They both smiled at the sleeping figure before looking back at Vegas and signalling about someone's presence.

Vegas understood what they meant and took Pete to their room immediately. Just as he opened the door, the one who was standing inside averted his gaze to look at them.
It was Pete's father indeed who sure smiled at Vegas but seemed to not care about his own son.

Vegas went towards the bed and gently keeping Pete down, pulled the blanket over him and turned around to face his father-in-law after striking out the smile he had on his face because of Pete.

"Oh I was worried about him. Glad to know that he's safe." The man said clearly acting which pissed Vegas off even more.

"There was no need to worry in the first place because I won't let anyone hurt him." He said confidently.

"Atleast not anymore" He muttered under his breath which Sitisak's (Pete's father's name) ears missed.

"I think I should wake him up. He must want to greet me as well, afterall we've not seen each other from quite a while." Sitisak smiled ear-to-ear as he went towards Pete to pull the blanket away but was stopped mid-way by Vegas.

"I don't think that's a good idea. Pete's already too tired from last night I believe, so I would like it if no one disturbed him." Vegas returned the same fake wide smile and felt good seeing Sitisak's smile somewhat dropping even though he was trying his best to make it look like he didn't mind Vegas' words, seeing his expressions, Vegas knew that he didn't like the restrain that Vegas had all of a sudden put on him.

"Now then, Phaw must be very busy right? I hope we can meet again soon." Vegas said with a wide hidden villainous smile as he asked him to leave in a roundabout manner which thankfully he was smart enough to catch on thus had no option but to leave for the time being.

"Ah aren't you such a considerate young man? I indeed have quite a lot on my plate, I'll visit you two again when I have enough time." Sitisak smiled warmly at Vegas but couldn't decieve him through the fake expressions. However, Vegas just played along instead of showing his real emotions since he had not yet discussed it with Pete if he should act openly hostile towards his 'father-in-law' or should observe his actions first and then act accordingly.
