Will he be as happy as me? 

I wrapped my hands more tightly around him as the thought of him being happy crossed my mind. What if he wants a kid but not now after all we are still young to start our own family. But my train of thoughts broke when he wrapped his big hands around me, taking me in his warm hug. I breathed deeply in his scent as I slowly started to feel all my worries going away in his warm arms. I didn't know when I drifted into a deep sleep. 

The next day Jack strictly prohibited me from coming to the office because he wanted me to rest as he saw tiredness on my face. I didn't refuse that idea as I too wanted to rest. After we had breakfast he sent me back to the room and he too covered my whole body strictly instructing me not to take it away as it was cold. Most of the time he was the one who covers me because I have a bad habit of pushing away my covers in my sleep. I often saw in my half-sleep he was the one who woke up in the middle of the night just to cover me. 

"Remember what I said," he asked as he tugged the cover under my chin. 

"Yes sir," I said with a smile on my face. 

"Good, now be a good girl and rest until I come," he said in his soft voice as he kissed my forest while his one hand rested on my stomach. A warm feeling spread inside my chest as I felt his big hand caressing my stomach lightly. Even though he doesn't know about growing life inside me, his actions were unknowingly giving his warm feelings to our child. I smiled sweetly at him in return. Saying bye he went out and I closed my eyes to rest. I slept until noon. I woke up only after feeling hungry. I made a light sandwich for myself as I don't feel like eating much.  After that, I took a shower. And got a dress in a t-shirt and shorts. I heard my cell phone ringing. Jack was calling me. 

"Hello," I answered the call while wiping my still wet hair. 

"Are you feeling good?" he asked in his concerned voice. 

"Yes I was feeling good in the morning too," I said as I was looking at the reflection of myself in the mirror still drying my hair. 

"Did you eat something?" he asked in his same voice. 

"Yeah I had a sandwich," I said while tossing my wet towel in the basket. 

"Did you eat lunch?" I asked him while I walked out of my bedroom towards the kitchen. Suddenly only the name of the food made me hungry again even though I just had a sandwich. 

"Yes, I had lunch with Ava. She was worried about your health too. She was thinking about visiting you today with Liam" he said in his thoughtful voice. 

"I would love to meet them. It's been days since I've met them," I said in my delighted voice. I missed them so much, especially Liam. 

"Ok, then I will bring them with me and don't cook anything, just rest. We will order something for dinner" he strictly instructed me. I hummed in response while putting a pickle on the leftover spaghetti. I've loved this combination since yesterday. I said bye and hung up. My mouth watered just looking at it. As soon as I ate the first bite my mouth exploded. I moaned and ate the rest of the food happily. I have to go and get the reports of my test. After I was done eating I changed and left for the hospital to collect my reports. I drove myself to the hospital as I don't want anyone else to know before I confirm it myself. I wanted for some time and then the nurse said to me to go In when my name was called. The doctor was already looking at my reports. 

"Hello Mrs. Miller, have a seat," she said with a warm welcoming smile on her face. I nodded with the same warm smile on my face and took the seat in front of her. 

"What do my reports say, doctor," I asked in my eager voice. She smiled looking at my eagerness. 

"Did you take the pregnancy kit test?" she asked while turning the pages of my test report. 

"Yes, and it showed I was pregnant. I'm just waiting to confirm with these reports what the test result says" I asked with the same eagerness in my voice. 

"Congratulations Mrs. Miller, you are two weeks pregnant," she said with a warm smile on her face while handing me the report. I took the report from her and with a pleased smile on my face as I felt excited after hearing what I wanted to hear the most. I turned the pages and saw where the conclusion as pregnant was written. 

"How is everything with my baby's health," I asked in my concerned voice. 

"Let's do a sonography to check everything," she said while gesturing me towards the bed. She did sonography on me. She explained where to look on the screen. I saw a pea-like shape appearing on the screen. She said it was my baby. It's so small. I thought with pure astonishment.   

After my sonography, she told me everything was perfectly fine with me and my baby's health. She wrote down some vitamin tablets for me and told me to take them every day until our next appointment. With a smile on my face, I drove back home. I felt like making something sweet for everyone and Liam loves cupcakes. So I made them. Jack told me not to cook dinner so I can still cook some cupcakes for them. I was so excited to share this news with Jack. My chest tightened with the thought of how I will reveal this news to Jack. I want to tell him first. While I was making cupcakes I received a call from Jane and I told her everything she was over the moon like me. We talked with each other for some time until cupcakes were getting baked. Thank God they arrived after I was done making the cakes. Liam came running to me when he saw me standing at the door. 

"Aunty Nina I missed you so much," he said in happiness while wrapping his hands around my neck as I took him in my arms. Yes, now he called me aunty because I know I'm married to his favorite uncle. 

"I missed you too. Let's go in. I have made cupcakes for you" I said as we walked inside. I gave him the cupcake, making him squeal in happiness.  Jack took Liam from my hands as we came out of the kitchen. 

"What did you take so much effort to do when you are not feeling good?" Ava said in her concerned voice. 

"I'm feeling good now and he likes cupcakes. How could I miss the sight of how his face lights up after looking at them," I said as I saw him munching on the cupcake with a cute smile on his face in Jack's arms. My warm feelings spread inside me as I saw Jack looking at him lovingly. Unknowing a smile spread on my lips as I saw them. Jack looked at me and raised his eyebrow as if asking if I needed something and I moved my head in no. 

As Jack was playing with Liam. I and Ava took our seats on the couch to talk. She inquired about my health and I told her I was better. And then I asked her how the work was and how the legal work was going on. I saw her jaw tightening at the thought of the legal department. She didn't tell me much but said everything was fine but from her face, I knew the story was different from what she was telling. We ordered food and had dinner together. 

After dinner, they left. Jack looked so tired so I told him to go and rest until I cleaned everything. He wanted to do it but I refused and sent him away. I knew he was beyond tired from his face. When I went back I saw him sleeping like a baby. I went to my closet and took out the test results. I didn't get the chance to tell him. But this will be the first news he will hear in the morning. I want to surprise him with the result. Taking the report and test kit I walked to his study. I know he finds all his files first in the morning. I opened the drawers and contemplated where to keep it so he could find it. I opened the big drawer of his study table where he keeps all his important files. It was locked so I searched for a key. In the process, I  accidentally opened his laptop and saw my smiling picture as his screensaver. 

What astonished me. It was my high school photo in which I was wearing my big black rim glasses and smiling as my braces shined in the sunlight. I never knew he had this picture with him that to his screensaver. I smiled looking at it. I need to hurry or else Jack will wake up and come finding me if he saw I was missing from beside him. I searched more for the key and It was inside the pen holder. I opened it to keep the result. I placed it beside a file while making some space for it but something shining caught my attention. 

"What is it?" I whispered as something shining was placed at one corner of the drawer. As I pulled it was a photo frame. My eyes lit as I saw whose pitcher it was. It was of Jack and Amelia. So he kept both of their photos like this. I liked the smiling face of both my best friends. 

Even though he doesn't admit he misses her, I know he misses her so much. I placed the photo on his desk as he should not hide it like that. I placed it neatly on his desk with a soft smile on my face. I placed the results with the kit inside. I want to see how he will react. As I was about to close it when my eyes caught something. There was a file placed below the frame. Why he had kept it in the corner below the frame. Does it contain more pictures in them? Curiosity took over me, making me take it out to see, and as soon as I opened it my eyes read the words they widened in shock. And my hands started to shake while papers fell from my hands and scattered on the floor. With watery eyes, I looked at them. 

The biggest nightmare of mine has come to exist.
