Big News At The End Of Chapter

I started fast walking towards the main hall. Suddenly I felt like being alone. I wanted to be away from everything. Away from his presence. His words confuse me so much it makes me question my sensibility. 

What does he mean by those words? I'm no fool to think he loves me. He doesn't love me nor do I? The only thing between us is hatred for each other. Then why did he say those words to me? What does he mean by those words? Why is he playing with me like that? Why is he trying to mess with my mind like that? Is this his new trick to make me lose? 

All these unanswered questions were arising in my brain making my thoughts more chaotic. It was taking away my all understanding capability and the sensibility of things. I'm in no sense to understand the meaning behind his words. I wanted to yell loudly and take out these unwanted questions and doubts arising in my fogged mind. I just want to go away from here and be on my own and get this thing out of my mind.

Stop Nina you can't leave like this. Before going away from here I need to do one most important thing. I went near Jane and Zanvil to congratulate them. I can't go without meeting her. I was already feeling bad about leaving her wedding so early. 

She won't be happy if she comes to know I'm leaving now but she will understand my reason. When Jane saw me she smiled brightly. Then she got herself out of Zanvil's possessive hold and hugged me. I hugged her back. She desperately wanted a reason to get away from Zanvil's hold and she was happy that I did it for her. I beamed at her. 

"Congratulations," I smiled and hugged her "and remember my words I will always be there for you," I whispered to her and then breaking our hug I beamed at her. She smiled back and nodded. I nodded at Zanvil and he nodded back in understanding. I want to ignore him but now he is my best friend's husband. 

I know Zanvil is a close kind of guy but he is mad for Jane and it is clearly visible in his cold eyes. I hope he takes good care of her or else I have to take care of him too with my fist. Jane furrowed her brows in a little questioning gaze as she saw the distress on my face which I was trying to hide hard from her. Before she could ask me anything more, guests came to congratulate them so taking it as my cue I excused myself before Jane could stop me or ask anything else. 

Now I can leave with slightly not feeling bad for leaving her wedding in the middle. I took a deep breath and put a small smile on my face to flash it to the people and started walking towards the exit. Through the walk, I had to maintain the smile on my face to flash it to people who were smiling at me. My face has started to hurt from smiling so much. When I was away from all the people's sight I let go of my fake smile. I could see the gate appearing in my vision and I started to feel the same guilt again. I was already feeling guilty about leaving Jane like this. I was almost at the gate when a voice stopped me.

"Nina dear where are you going." I turned to find aunty Sam looking at me with little furrowed eyebrows. 

"Hey, " I said with nervous laughter. 

"I...I was thinking about" I was trying to say that I'm leaving but it didn't look good that I was leaving my best friend's wedding in the middle when she needs me more. 

"Don't tell me you are leaving your best friend's wedding so early" she said in disbelief reading my face. 

"I..I" I again tried to come up with something to deny what she said but I couldn't because she was right and if I lied she would catch me. 

"You don't need to say anything because you are not leaving. I won't let that happen. How can you leave her wedding like that? Do forget some ceremonies are still left to do. Jane won't be happy not to find you anywhere" she said with a bewildered look in her face. I looked at her for a few seconds trying to come up with something else reasonable but I couldn't. All my attempts to say something reasonable was a big failure. 

Yes, she is right there are still some small wedding rituals left to do. I told Jane that I will be here with her till the end and now I'm just leaving because a certain someone said some things to me that are out of my understanding capability. 

"Come let's go," she said while pulling my hand and taking me back to the wedding. We were going back to the wedding when aunty Jeniffer came running to me as soon as she saw me. 

"I was searching for you everywhere but I didn't find you anywhere. Where were you?" she asked with a little furrowed brows in question. 

"I was with aunty Sam," I said with a small little nervous smile and looked at aunty Sam for support. I don't want her to know I was leaving. She won't be happy either. Aunty Jeniffer looked at aunt Sam who nodded at aunty Jeniffer with a smile to support my lie, well it was not a complete lie. 

I cleared my throat and asked in my little serious voice "What happened is there still something left to do? Is It about the arrangement but we have already checked everything? I personally checked all the  arrangements before the wedding ceremony even took place." Listening to me she smiled and moved her head in denial. My brows furrowed deepen in question. Then what could it be? "If It's not about that what it is," I asked with the same expression plastered to my face. 

"Come with me I will tell you," she said while taking me and aunty Sam back to the wedding. "Jane is going to throw her nosegay at all single girls and you were nowhere to be found that's why I came searching for you. Let's go Jane is going to throw her nosegay soon and you are going to participate in it," she said with a happy smile when we almost reached near the group of girls. 

"What me! Oh no..no" I said while denying her with nervous laughter while signaling my both hands in denial. I don't want to stand in a group of unwedded women to catch that small bouquet. I'm not desperate to get married and if by mistake I catch that nosegay dad will pick the first date to book a marriage hall to get me married as soon as possible even if I'm standing alone to get married in front of the priest. 

"Oh common Nina it's a small sermon," said aunty Sam with an encouraging smile. 

"Thank God Jack reminded me that you were missing from the group. I don't want you to miss it" she said in her little relieved voice. Listening to it I balled my fist in anger. 

That Satan, why is he making me madder at him? Did you forget Nina it's his favorite time pass? 

"Come let's go I have already made Hazel join in, only you were missing from the group of girls. Let's go fast, everyone is waiting for you" saying that in excitement she dragged me to the group of unwed girls standing with a happy and excited smile on their face and curious gaze in their eyes to know who will get married next. With a grime face, I followed aunty, Jeniffer, to a group of overly excited women. 

Why are they so excited to get married? Don't they love their freedom? 

"I'm so excited to know who will get married after Jane. What do you think about who will get married next Nina or Hazel?'' I heard aunty Jeniffer asking aunty Sam in her excited voice. 

"I'm excited to know it too but I hope Nina will be next," aunty Sam said with the same excitement in her voice. Hearing her aunty Jenifer nodded at her in agreement. 

"It will be so good that Jane's best friend gets married after her so they can become pregnant together," aunty Jeniffer said dreamily. My mood became even sourer after listing their conversation. 

Don't they know I'm still with them, they are talking like I'm invisible to their eyes. Why does everyone want me to get married so soon? Getting pregnant at the same time I can't even imagine that. I'm still a kid can't they see it? Biting my lower lip I followed them. Only one person's expressions matched mine in that overly excited group and it was Hazel who was standing at the end where she could avoid the nosegay by all means. As I started to go near her I felt a heated gaze on me. But I didn't move my face to look at who was looking at me because this gaze was too familiar for me to not know who it was. 

"Hey," I excelled standing beside her because I too wanted to avoid getting that nosegay by all means. I saw dad giving me good luck with his both thumbs while beaming at me. I gave him a tight lip smile and just ignored him and turned to look back at Hazel. 

"Hey," she said in the same nonexcited tone as mine without turning to look at me. She was busy looking at something much precisely glaring at someone. I followed her gaze and found out that death glare competition was still going on in between her and Skyler. They were so ready to jump on each other and fight like wild animals. Skyler was however getting successful in getting out this violent nature of all the time calm and composed Hazel. 

God these two. 

What will happen if they get at each other's neck? 

I can't even imagine it but it will be fun to watch what they will do to defeat each other. With this thought, I averted my gaze from them and found both my aunts smiling at me with hope in their eyes. They want me to get married so eagerly.

God these two too. 

Besides them stood the source of the heated gaze he was standing with his hands in his pocket while his predatory eyes were fixed on me from the moment I started walking towards Hazel. There was a knowing smirk on his face with a challenging mockery glimpse in his eyes. Looking at him made me remember what he said to me some time ago but I removed those thoughts from my mind. 

If he thinks he got so successful in making my life more hard after telling the aunt that I was missing from the group then he is so wrong. I'm not afraid of standing here. I just rolled my eyes at him which made him clenched his jaw and glared at me. I again rolled my eyes in mocking to piss him off even more.

Why should he be at peace after destroying mine? 

With a smirk on my face, I looked away from him and moved my gaze to Jane to find if she was ready to throw the nosegay so I could go and sit. My legs were starting to ache because of standing so much in these heels. I found her listening to something her devil husband was saying. He was not saying something romantic because I could see her expression of discomfort on her face. Like feeling my eyes in her she turned to look at me and smiled while trying to hide that distress expression oh her face. It made me smile back at her. I mouth "kick him" and it widened the small smile on her face. With a small smile playing on my lips I turned my face back to Hazel. 

"I don't understand why people are so excited about it. It's not like you will get married just after you got that small bouquet like thing," I said in my grumpy voice. Listening to me she broke her death glaring competition and looked at me like my words caught her attention.  

"Yeah right me too," she said with a knowing look. 

"I don't understand why they even do it. I would never stand here if Mrs. Adams wouldn't have had me do it. I don't believe in such things. I think marriage is something that happens to you when you are ready for it" she explained in her compassionate voice. 

I nodded my head in agreement and said "you are right. It happens to you when you are ready to take that kind of responsibility in your life. But even though our thoughts of marriage are different from the other we still have to stand here and pretend to catch that nosegay to make people who love us happy." 

"Yes, you are right if my mom was present here she would have forcefully made me stand here against my will. We can't escape from it" she said in amusement, making me laugh too with her. 

"It's so true every mother wants her girl to get married when she is at her prime age of marriage and for me my both aunts are doing it. But we don't need to worry that the nosegay won't even come here in the corner where we are standing," I said with a playful smile. 

"Aren't I the best spot chooser?" she said with the same playfulness. I nodded at her with a big grin on my face. Well, I have to give her points for that. 

"Girls get ready, the bride is ready to throw her nosegay," announced aunty Jeniffer, getting the attention of most of the girls. 

"Just stick to your spot and don't even catch it if it comes towards you even though it has so many fewer chances of happening," I said in my serious voice while folding my hands on the chest from stopping myself from catching it if it by mistake comes at me. 

"Yes ma'am," Hazel said in the same intense voice while mimicking my action of folding her hands on her chest. 

"Ready girls," aunty Jeniffer asked in excitement, getting aloud yes from all the excited girls except us. Jane came and stood a little distance away from us while taking her position with her back to us not before giving me and Hazel a smile. We both got ready not to get that thing at any cost. 

"One..two...three" Jane counted and threw the nosegay towards the group of girls as we were almost out of the group in the corner. As soon as she threw it that thing started coming in our direction. 

Did just Jane aim to throw it towards us? 

We both looked at each other with horrified expressions on our faces. "Why the hell it's coming in our direction," Hazel said in her panicked voice. 

"I don't know but don't catch it even if it comes to us, let it fall on the ground?" I said in my panicked voice while moving near her to get ourselves out of the group. 

"The girl in front of us will catch it, don't worry," I said in my nervous alarm voice. 

"Yes," she said in her nervous voice while tightening her hands more to her chest like mine. 

Listening to our conversation a girl standing beside us gave us a weird look making us smile at her sheepishly. The girl in front of us lifted her hand to catches it making a smile to form on mine and Hazel's face but as she lifted her hand to catches its only end of the ribbons come into her hand making her pull it in force to move it near her but tugging of ribbons end caused it to open the nosegay and fall all the flowers in a bouquet on me and Hazel. Some got stuck in our hair and some on our dress, making the crowd of guests erupt in laughter while clapping their hands. As if we both won the one-way ticket to the highway of marriage.  

Gasps of dislike left from the mouths of all the remaining girls. The girl standing beside me glared at me as if I jumped and snatched that thing from her hands. We would trade anything to be in their place. I and Hazel both looked at each other with horror wide eyes. 

"What kind of bad luck is this?" I whispered in my small sorrowful voice. We tried our best to not get it but it still came to us. I can't understand why life is throwing things at me which I don't even want in my life in the first place. 

"I don't know it's making me scared" she too whispered while gulping in horror. 

"Oh my God I can't believe you both will get married this year," said aunty Jeniffer in her excited voice. 

"I'm too so excited" aunty Sam joined her with a big smile on her face like she won the lottery. I know why she is so excited. 

"Congratulations to both of you," said aunty Jeniffer while hugging me and Hazel. 

Why are they reacting like that? It's not I'm getting married tomorrow itself? 

Jane, Zanvil, Skyler, and Jack all of them came near us making me more nervous about our situation. Jack smirked at me, making me glare at him. It's all because of him. His smirk was spreading the bad feeling inside me more. 

"My kitten is going to be next to get married," dad said in his excited voice. Only my dad was remaining to say it. 

"Dad it won't even count as we both didn't get the nosegay," I said in my anxious voice while trying to reason. Hazel nodded at my statement firmly. She was so stunned to speak anything. 

"It still counts as flowers fell on both of you. So you both will get married soon" aunty Jeniffer explained.    

"Yes I'm so excited," aunty Sam said while elbowing Jack with a playful smile on her face. 

God, why are you showing me this day? 

Nina takes deep breaths and calms herself down. It was nothing, don't think too much about it and just let it slide from your thoughts like it never happened. Breath in breath out. I took a deep breath to calm my throbbing nerves. I didn't want this thing to bother me anymore but these thoughts kept bugging me. 

"Aunty it was a small sermon as you said. It's not like we are getting married anytime soon," I said with a nervous smile. These things are making me so nervous and scared at the same time. The bad feeling that I tried to suppress started to spread inside me and top on Jack was looking at me all the time trying to analyze each and every movement.  

"Yes she is right '' Hazel joined me finding her voice back with the same scared expression on her face. I saw Skyler smirking evilly at Hazel after listening to her words. We both are not so ready to get married. 

"We are not saying you will get married tomorrow but you will definitely get married till the end of this year. That's what this bouquet throwing ritual says," aunty Sam said with a smile. Making me swallow hard. 

"It's all a myth, nothing happens like that," I said with a nervous laugh. It made Jack look at me in amusement. He smirked wildly knowing this thing was scaring me. 

God, please tell me it's all false. 

"But it came true in my case I got married to Zanvils dad the same year I caught nosegay in one of my friend's wedding," she said with a smile causing Zanvils dad to put his hand over her shoulder in a loving manner. 

God, why do you want to prove me wrong all the time? 

Couldn't you wait for a little to prove me wrong? 

"Well it happened only one time,'' I said nervously, smiling. 

"Yes in my case too it became true. I got pregnant the next month. I caught the nosegay at my friend's wedding and after two months I got married to Jack's dad" she said with a pleased smile making my breath caught in my lungs. Listening to it uncle Richard gave aunty Sam a playful smile. After listening to it I heard a loud audible gulp of fear from my side. 

Why are these people so keen on scaring me and Hazel? 

"I can't believe my kitten will get married this year," dad said with a wide smile on his face while hugging me from the side. I just nervously smiled back at him. 

"Guys it's wedding cake cutting time so I request all of you to please move inside the house for a celebration of the newlyweds'' aunty Jeniffer announced to all of the guests. 

Dad took me inside with him and I'm so grateful to him for taking me inside with him as evil Jack was giving me his evil smirks and I didn't want him to get near me anytime soon. I moved inside with dad still resting my head on his chest to support all my miseries. 

God what this day is turning so bad for me. 

Zanvil and Jane cut the cake and all people cheered for their new beginning. I was still resting my head on my dad's chest as all this today's events we're making me light-headed. 

"So do you want to eat cake?'' dad asked, seeing I have still not let him go. 

"Nope," I said in a small voice while wrapping my hands on his waist like a five-year-old. 

"Kitten what happened," dad asked, seeing my foul mood. 

"Nothing" I mumbled, burning my face more in his chest. 

"You didn't like the idea of getting married,'' he asked with a knowing look on his face. He knew I was always against the idea of getting married. I nodded my head confirming his statement. He lifted my face to make me look at him. "Kitten, how should I explain this to you. I won't be around till the end. Don't you want your own family in your future who will be with you all the time when I'm not there to look at you?" he asked in his calm voice like he was talking to his five-year-old child.

"No you are my only family and I don't want to get a new one,'' I said stubbornly while looking down at the floor. I don't know how to explain it to him. It's too much for me to get married this early. I have a big responsibility for me and without fulfilling it I don't want to get married or anything which will distract me from my goal. Marriage thing seemed so big to me. 

"I can't force you. So you think about it till I'll go and bring you a piece of cake to eat. After eating it you will be more clear about what you want" he said with a small smile and went to take it. I was standing with my head low as I felt someone tapping on my shoulder making me turn back to look. 

"Hey," said the most charming voice spreading a huge grin on my face after I saw who was the owner of the voice. 

"Gray," I said happily and hugged him tightly he lifted me a little bit up in the air. 

"Oh my God, when did you come," I asked in my delighted voice. 

"I was here from the start but I couldn't find you but then I saw you standing in a group of girls trying not to catch the nosegay," he said in amusement. Making me smile sheepishly at him.

"I looked so obvious," I asked with an animated smile to which he nodded. Soon aunty announced it was time for dance 

"Can I have the pleasure to dance with this beautiful lady," he asked while offering me his hand making me blush and laugh at the same time at him. I nodded and took his hand. He took me to the dance floor where already people had started to dance. Slow music started to play and started to move our body to the rhythm. "So will I go back to my house in a single piece after I'm done dancing with you" suddenly Gray asked me, making me look at him in confusion. 

"What are you talking about?" I asked with the same expression.

"That guy who took you in his private plane is glaring at me since I started talking to you and now he is giving me death glares. So am I safe" he asked in his playful voice making me look in the direction where he was looking. I found Jack glaring at me as his eyes moved from Gray to me in anger. I rolled my eyes at him. 

"Just ignore him. His face is like that" I said while brushing out his words even though I was feeling a heated gaze trying to bore holes in my back. 

"It looks like he will murder if I don't let you go," he asked in his amused voice. 

"He has been like this with every guy who tried to come near me or talk to me," I said in my bored voice. 

"Boyfriend," Gray asked, reading my face. He wishes. 

"Even better fiance," I said while biting my lower lip at the bitterness of that word. It was so hard for me to digest that thing even now. 

"When this happened," he asked in his little shocked voice. 

"Long story now can we stop talking about him," I said in my grumpy voice. 

"Ok ok let's enjoy the dance," he said with a smile making me smile too. After that, we both danced. While dancing he told me about his upcoming projects and his silly incidents making me laugh even more. I was still feeling his heated gaze on me and it was making this bad feeling spread more through me but I just ignored it and kept enjoying my dance with Gray with a smile on my face. The song ended. He went to receive his call which was ringing continuously. I felt thirsty so I went near the refreshment table to drink some water. As I turned with glass in my hand I saw a lady standing in front of me with a bright smile on her face.

"Hey I'm Emma Roberts," she said in a polite way while offering her hand to me. 

"Hey I'm Nina Rogers," I said while taking her hand and smiling politely back at her. Who is she? I have never seen her before. This thought was raised in my mind. 

"Well, it would sound weird that I'm asking you this like that. Would you like to go on a blind date with my son?" she asked with the same polite smile. 

"Huh," I asked, not believing what she asked. Does she find me beautiful enough to send me on a blind date with her son? 

"I know it's so sudden and you don't even know me. Let me tell you about my son have you heard about Roberts law firms" she asked with a small smile. I nodded my head. It's the biggest law firm in all America. "It's owned by us and my son is the current CEO of that company," she explained. I have heard of him so he is a popular and leading criminal lawyer with all height profile cases. I have once seen his photo in the magazine he is so hot.  

"I don't think he will like to go on a blind date with me," I said with a smile. He won't like a plain girl like me.

"Don't get this wrong I may look pushy but trust my words you are perfect for him. Totally his type. I'm asking you is just a one blind date and if you don't feel like seeing him again then it's fine with me" she pleaded like I was a precious gem she doesn't want to let go. This idea looked so tempting to me. What if I marry him and cut out Jack. I bit my lip like debating what to say. I was about to say yes but I was stopped by a hand wrapping around my waist and I again dragged back to a very familiar hard chest. I don't know why my heart started beating fast as I again tried to cheat on him. 

"Mrs. Roberts, why are you trying to set my fiance with your son," he said in his hard dominating voice making swallow hard. From when he was standing and listening to our conversation. 

"What! You guys are engaged" she said in her surprised voice but she soon composed herself. "Well I didn't first believe that you were single but I saw you staring in a group of single girls so I assumed. Sorry, Nina, I didn't know you were engaged to Jack Miller" she said to me in her same polite voice. Before I could say it's not her fault he answers for me.  

"It's fine if you excuse us. I would like to spend some time with my fiance," he said in his calm voice and kissed on the side of my head while tightening his hold on my waist so I won't run away from him. The calmness in his voice was screaming it's silence before the storm. Seeing his loving gesture towards me Mrs. Roberts smiled at us. 

"You both make such a good pair. Enjoy your evening" saying that Mrs. Roberts nodded her head and excused herself. As soon as she was away from us I tried to get his hand away from my waist but he did let go of me. 

"What are you in such a hurry is your one of ex-boyfriend waiting for you," he asked in his angry voice while making me turn to look at his angry face. He was still holding me so near to him in his firm grip. I looked at him in disbelief. 

This man makes all kinds of stories in his head. 

"Yes, he is. Now let me go," I said while looking back in his cold light brown eyes. If he is making all kinds of the story it's not my place to clear it from him. He can assume whatever he wants as if I care. 

"He just dug his grave deeper. I let him go last time but this time he will face the outcomes of touching what's mine," he said with his clenched jaw. His words passed an unwanted shiver to my spine. 

"You won't do anything like that" I warned him. I stood my grounds and glared at him. He can threaten me like that. 

"I'm capable of doing so many things to him. To you, don't you know that wild cat," he said in a dominating voice with an evil smile on his face while caressing my cheeks with the back of his finger. His touch sent a tingling all over my body. I swallowed hard listening to his words. His words again started to mess with my mind. 

"So you decide what should I do first to you. Getting married or making you pregnant" the said with an evil smirk on his face. Listing to his words my throat becomes dry as a desert. His words send this unwanted shiver to my spine. 

"Well, option two looks more tempting to me. So first I'm going to make you pregnant so everyone will know you belong to me," he said in his dominating voice while wrapping his hand more tightly at my waist kicking all the air away from my lungs. My eyes widened at his words and my heart sank to my stomach. 

Wh...what did he just say?
