Chapter Two
Mom: Are you heading out with your hyung?
Jungkook cringed. Your hyung? Jin was only two years older. But his mother had made it a point of duty to force an older-younger sibling relationship between them.
It was just irritating because Jungkook didn't see Jin that way, he never did and never would. But no matter how many times he told his mother to stop referring to Jin as 'your hyung', she'd start a lesson on respect and how far it could take someone.
But Jungkook didn't give a shit about respect. Jin was older than him, yes, but he was not his brother. End of story!
Yes, was his response before dropping his phone next to him on the seat. His gaze swept over the city landscape outside the window as they blurred past the speeding vehicle.
The sky had darkened and its grey clouds threatened a storm. Jungkook wondered if they'd get to the club before the rain starts but it didn't matter. Maybe if he showed up drenched, his mother might let him go home.
But that would never happen. The club had an underground parking lot, so he wouldn't even have to make any journey in the rain from the car park to the building.
Why did she even need him at the club? It was Monday. The country club didn't have any special activities on Monday. The only thing that happened there was his mother's book club meeting, which he didn't have any business with.
Unless, she intended to introduce him to, yet, another one of her friend's daughters. Her last 7 attempts had failed woefully because regardless of how many times he'd told his mother he didn't play for that team, she felt he was trying to be rebellious and just shoved her friends' daughters in his face.
He'd not expected her to accept his coming out with all of her heart. She was an Asian parent, it would be unusual for her to to not react some type of way to it, but this was becoming too much.
As he sat there, he had half a heart to push open the back door and throw himself onto the freeway. Maybe it would sit more comfortably with her to have a dead son than a gay one.
The whole thing was less awkward for his dad. Anthony Jeon had grown up in America with a white mum and a Korean dad. He'd grown up with Western standards and was more liberal with a lot of things despite being a stern person by nature.
He was more interested in Jungkook graduating with a good degree and then take over his chain of hotel businesses around the world when the time came, than what gender he was attracted to.
For Jungkook, he wasn't interested in what either of his parents were pushing for. He just wanted to live his life the way he wanted without having either of them meddle in it, especially using Jin to keep him in check.
The thought sent his gaze falling on the older boy in the driver's seat. He had one arm stretched out to hold onto the steering wheel while the other lay casually on his lap. His face was pulled into the usual frown like he was angry at the world or something, like a ploy to push people away.
When Jin walked at school, the whispers were loud and annoying. The recent one Jungkook heard referred to Jin as 'Handsome Devil'. Like they'd stand and stare if really they came that close to the devil.
He wondered if the whispers got to Jin. He walked around with head held high like nothing could hurt him and sometimes Jungkook almost believed his act—that nothing could hurt him. But that was just impossible. He was human, surely the words got to him to an extent.
He just hid it by scowling at everyone and being mean to Jungkook. The only people who didn't seem affected by his attitude were his friends; the social media maniac and the glutton.
Jimin wasn't even a good model, he walked like a drugged chicken. He only had a fine face and a slim physique. As for Taehyung? Jungkook was shocked that one was still alive. He'd expected him to have eaten poison already but somehow, he ate everything he saw and was still around.
"You might as well rip off the steering wheel while you're at it," Jungkook mumbled, rolling his eyes away from Jin's tight grip. "You don't pay for maintenance, after all."
"What?" Jin asked after a heartbeat. He looked like he'd been deep in thoughts and Jungkook's voice had lured him out of it.
Jungkook ignored him and just stared out of the window. He could feel Jin's eyes on him but refused to meet it through the rear mirror. He wasn't afraid of Jin but sometimes, his stare could come off as intimidating especially with the stupid white scars he had across his forehead.
And the last thing he wanted was for Jin to think he affected him in any way, because he didn't. At all.
"After I drop you off, I'll be going to hang out with some friends and won't be back until later tonight. Just so you know."
"I thought you didn't answer to a piece of shit, why then are you telling me?"
Jin was quiet for a moment then he shrugged. "I don't answer to you. I just wanted you know."
"I don't care what you do." Jungkook folded his arms over his chest and stared out the window at the boring cityscape. He wasn't interested in the buildings or whatever.
"Ok."
He felt a strong urge to look towards Jin but he didn't want to look at his face. Not because of the stupid scar or the stupid nose ring only him was allowed to wear in the entire school or because of the intensity of Jin's gaze that made him so fucking uneasy.
Even when a phone call came in and Jungkook was more than sure Jin had just answered a booty call.
He just didn't want to waste his precious time looking at someone so annoying and uptight. He'd rather look at cars speeding by and laundromats and convenient stores and small restaurants.
"You can call me if you need me. Although, I believe you'll go home with your mum," Jin said once he'd parked the car in the underground parking lot.
"You really overestimate your significance in my life, dude," Jungkook scoffed, snatching his bag from where it was by his leg.
"Do you have to be such a snotty, childish—"
"You know I'm really curious now," Jungkook said, leaning back against the seat and turning to look at Jin whose eyes stayed fixated on him through the rear view mirror. "Where do you go after school almost every night? I know you like to fight, so maybe underground fight clubs? But then again, you receive weird calls and I'm sure you're not just going out to fight, so what really is it?"
"You sound like you already know, so why don't you tell me?"
"You're a gigolo," Jungkook said with certainty, although where the certainty came from he wasn't sure.
For a minute, Jin stayed quiet. He watched Jungkook, unblinkingly, almost making the younger boy shrink under such intense scrutiny. Slowly, Jungkook could make out the tightening of his jaw and his eyes turned a shade darker.
He looked fucking pissed.
"I'm a gigolo? You think that I fuck for money?" Jin asked, his vulgarity knocking the stability out of Jungkook. "I fuck whomever I find attractive, not for money or services, but because I fucking want to. You go around judging me because you're an entitled prick with no regards or sense of maturity whatsoever and it's taking all of me not to smash your pretty little head through that fucking window. Now, grab your fucking bag and get the hell out."
