Chapter Sixty

Jin collapsed to the floor, heavy sobs leaving his lips. He clutched his chest, pounding against it, begging for his heart to stop beating so wild, begging for it to stop hurting so much. He was shattered. Jungkook had taken him whole and ripped him to shreds.

A hand wrapped around him and pulled him into a hug, Namjoon's perfume invaded the air around him. He grabbed onto Namjoon desperately, crying his heart out.

"It's okay," Namjoon cooed, running his hands over his back. "You'll be okay."

But he wouldn't. He couldn't. Jungkook was everything to him. He meant the whole world to Jin but he'd been playing him for a fool all along. He'd done everything he could to set Jungkook free but Jungkook hadn't deserved it.

He'd hurt every time Jungkook had been hurt. Cried every time he heard the sadness in Jungkook's voice and saw it in his eyes. He'd been willing to do anything just to make Jungkook happy, even if it meant he would be inconvenienced.

In his life, he had placed Jungkook first. Set him as a priority, but all the while, Jungkook had a novel out about Jin's life. A novel where he'd taken painful memories from Jin's life, twisted them and then sent it out to the world to be read, analyzed, dissected and criticized.

Jin wasn't even mad that Jungkook had called him a drug dealer. He wasn't even upset that he'd made him into a teenage boy who received money for sex. What he was mad about was Ryujin's story. What broke his heart was that Jungkook had tagged Ryujin as a reckless driver who'd lost his life because he'd had one too many to drink.

He'd insulted the person Jin had been most regretful of that couldn't ever meet Jungkook. Most nights he'd lain in bed and he'd imagined how it would have felt like to introduce Jungkook to Ryujin. He knew Ryujin would love Jungkook, he'd have taken him as a little brother and have told Jin he'd done a good job getting someone like that.

Jungkook had broken his heart by telling his story to the world. He'd completely obliterated Jin's heart and it was so fucking painful.

His lungs felt too small and no matter how deeply he drew in breath, it didn't seem to be enough. He was running out of air.

"Hey, hey, Jin," Namjoon called, increasing the pace of his rubs. "Don't do that."

"Hyung..." He gasped shakily. He shut his eyes tight, digging his fingers into Namjoon's skin.

"Breathe, Jin," Namjoon encouraged. "Follow my cue," he said, sucking in a deep breath and letting it out slowly. He repeated it, his rubbing motion not stopping.

It took an excruciatingly long moment before Jin started to breathe again. He lay in Namjoon's arms sobbing his heart out, despite the headache forming.

"What happened?" Namjoon asked a few hours later.

Jin was lying on the bed in his room, his head banging, his heart aching, his throat hurting and his eyes stinging. The curtains were drawn and the lights were turned off, but when Namjoon walked into the room, he left the door open so light could pour in from the hallway.

"Hmm?" Namjoon asked, taking a sit on the other side of the bed. Jin was backing him, but he could feel Namjoon's worried gaze on him.

"I ended it," he muttered, his gaze staring off into nothing. His head filled with the image of Jungkook's hurt filled face, tears pouring down his face. Never in Jin's life would he believe it if someone had told him he would be the reason Jungkook cried so profusely. He swallowed the hurt that had come with the thought and cleared the image from his head.

Namjoon's response came after a moment's consideration. "Why?"

"Because I don't want to be with him anymore." It was a big fat, stinky lie.

"What happened?"

Jin shrugged like it was no big deal. He shrugged like he didn't want to take a knife and cut out the remaining bits of his aching heart and just toss it into the ocean because the pain he was experiencing was terrifying. "Everything."

"What do you mean everything?"

"I mean everything. With everything that has happened, it's about time we just call it what it is," he said. "It's never going to work between us, so why pretend it will?"

"I thought you were willing to fight for your relationship."

"After yesterday, I'm not so willing anymore," he said. But the truth was, it was not for the same reason as Namjoon thought. Namjoon assumed he gave up because of the beating and the damage to the club.

But it was because of his encounter with Bambam. That little, fucking bastard.

Why had he told Jin this? Why hadn't he left him in the dark? Was this his plan after all? To make Jin hate Jungkook? To make him break up with him? Did he know that the pain would be too much for Jin to overlook? Jin never should have helped the bastard. He should have forced Jungkook to stay back in the house that night and let Bambam's father destroy his family.

He fisted the bed sheet, a tear rolling down the side of his face.

"Jin, I know you're angry and hurting. And I know what happened yesterday startled you, but you really love him-"

He sat up and swiveled to face Namjoon. "Haven't I done enough for him? Given up enough for him? I sacrificed everything for him, hyung. And now, I'm angry, I am hurting, I am tired and I am done."

"You're overwhelmed right now. Just take a little time to-"

"Are you listening to me? I am done with him. I am sick and tired of having to look over my shoulders whenever I'm with him. I am tired of sneaking around just to be with him. I'm fed up with trying to hide my relationship. I've done more for him than I have ever done for anyone in my entire life and I am done being that generous."

Namjoon stayed quiet, and then he nodded. "Alright. I hear you. You've done your best and it's okay to get tired. It's alright." He rose from the bed and let out a sigh. "Hoseok's back from work. Do you want to talk to him?"

Jin shook his head. "No. I just want to be alone."

"I'll let you know when dinner's ready."

"I'll just go to bed."

"You have to eat something."

"I'm not hungry," he said, lying on the bed and turning his back to Namjoon. "I'm really sleepy,' he said, his voice shaking with emotions.

Tears burned his eyes once more. He suppressed his sobs until he heard the door shut behind Namjoon, leaving him in the darkness with his grief.

He'd thought him and Jungkook were a done deal. Yes, they had obstacles and stumbling blocks everywhere but he'd been certain that they would overcome it.

Since the beginning of their relationship, his fear had been Jungkook's parents. Especially, the madam. He'd been afraid of her power because she wielded so much of it. He'd been terrified that she would do something that would make Jungkook leave him. He didn't think Jungkook would be with him until this moment.

To be honest, he should have given Jungkook more credit because even though he loved Jungkook so much, he hadn't thought Jungkook was strong enough to withstand his parents' pressure. Jin had believed sooner than later, Jungkook would crack under his mother's insistency and pressure.

But Jungkook had been strong up to the end. He'd even stood up to his mother proving Jin wrong. He'd promised Jin that they would figure out a way to their freedom where they would be able to love each other without interference from his parents' and he'd done just that.

He'd found a common ground with his father. He'd had a major breakthrough and everything they'd fought for had started to materialize. And then he found out that Jungkook wasn't just a famous writer, but that he'd written about Jin's life.

Jimmy Shin – The Main character in Fire On Ice.

Jin Kim – The subject matter in Jungkook's writing project.

Jungkook had betrayed him. He'd betrayed his love, his loyalty and his honesty.

And even though Jin knew he would never stop loving Jungkook, even though he knew he would never love another the way he loved Jungkook, he didn't know if he would ever forgive Jungkook for what he did.
