Chapter One

"Where's Jungkook?"

A hush fell over the table as the two boys seated on the bench ceased their activities and looked up at the person who was looking down at them with indifference, like whatever their response would be wouldn't matter to him.

But they knew better. They knew whatever came out of their lips mattered a lot.

"Uhm," Bambam started, looking around at the other dude on the table hoping he would speak instead because he didn't know what to say. "Jungkook is, uhm, with a teacher."

"What teacher and why?"

"He's obviously lying, Jin," Jin's friend, Jimin said casually, not looking up from his Samsung phone. "Taehyung, do you really think this picture is better? They already paid me for the ad," He asked, as he turned to the other boy standing next to him and Jin, tuning out the conversation.

Jin looked between the two friends sitting on the bench, both too scared to look him in the eyes. Just like everyone at school they were afraid of the constant frown on his face or maybe it wasn't his expression, but the knowledge that he was a retired street fighter at 18, with bright scars all over his body.

It was always hilarious to see them cower and scurry out of the way whenever he showed up even when he didn't spare them as much as a glance. They just didn't seem to understand that as long as they didn't bother Jungkook, he didn't give a rat's free ass about any of them.

"No, I'm not lying!" Bambam defended, waving his hand frantically.

"It's the truth," A smallish blonde boy added next to Bambam. Yoongi. He was the one out of the two who had a bit of balls. He was a social media influencer, like Jimin, always taking photos of whatever seemed interesting to him. "Mrs. Jang called him in."

"Why?"

"Because she can't get enough of my fine face," Jungkook said from behind before heading over to take a seat beside his friends on the bench. "What do you want?"

"Are you failing your class?" Jin asked.

"Why? Need something to report to my parents, Secretary Kim?" Jungkook asked, taking a seed of grape from Yoongi's tray and popping it into his mouth.

If his words offended Jin it didn't show. "I don't need to report anything to your parents, young master. If you're failing, it's no one's problem. You're the one who's going to suffer the humiliation and embarrassment in the end, not me or your parents," Jin stated plainly. "Your mum texted me."

Jungkook rolled his eyes. "Does she need you to wipe my butt after I take a shit?"

"Being vulgar is not a charming look on your fine face, trust me," Jin said. "She needs you at the country club. I'm taking you."

The frown on Jungkook's face only intensified. "There's no way in freezing heaven or scorching hell that I'm going anywhere with you."

"I didn't ask," Jin stated.

Jungkook scoffed, standing to his feet. He took slow steps towards Jin and in seconds, there was barely a breadth of air between them. "I don't know who you think you are to talk to me that way, but the next time you do it, you would be out of a job faster than you can touch that fucking scar on your neck."

The glare between them could melt gold. The entire cafeteria had frozen over like the heaven in Jungkook's storybook and all eyes had fallen on the both of them.

"Now listen to me, you piece of shit. I don't have a job today because your dad was kind enough to offer one to me. I do because I'm fucking good at fighting and he needed someone like that to babysit his spoiled brat of a child who thinks the world ought to bow at his feet and kiss his ass every time he walks past."

"Who the hell do you—"

"I'm not here to banter words with you," Jin said, cutting him off. "Unlike you I have actual studying to do. I need you at the parking lot by 3, so we could go and meet your beautiful mother at the club, Jeon Jungkook. I'm not asking, I'm telling you. Just do as I say so we won't have to stand around one more time, entertaining these poke-nosing idiots with our cute arguments. Have a nice day, young master."

Jin didn't spend a second more before turning away and walking out of the cafeteria with an apple in one hand and the other hand in his front pocket. He could feel Jungkook's burning eyes on him but it was as effective as a baby's glare.

"Why can't you two ever agree on anything without making it an issue for the entire school to witness?" Taehyung asked, chuckling as he slid onto the lab stool in the chemistry lab.

"Because he's a spoiled brat," Jimin offered, repeating Jin's earlier words. He pulled out a selfie stick from his tote bag along with another phone. It was the latest iphone he had bought specifically for taking pictures. "I don't get why you still work with that family. You're practically Jungkook's bodyguard."

"Jimin's right. Quit your job with them and come live with me. My mum adores you and would be willing to adopt you as her second son." He thought for a second. "Maybe her first son, even." He thought again, shaking his head. "Hell, she might even send me away just so you could be her only son."

Jin flipped open his notebook. "You know it's much deeper than you're both making it out to be."

"I know! But that kid treats you like shit and every time he talks to you like that I want to smack him in the face," Taehyung spat, groaning.

"If you smack him, I'd have to beat the shit out of you," Jin said shocking Taehyung who turned to him with his mouth hanging low.

"Why? I'm on your side."

Jin chuckled. "I mean, like you said I'm technically his bodyguard, right? It's kind of my job, you know?" He picked up his apple and took a big bite. "Now, go bug Jimin. I need to study."

Grudgingly, Taehyung moved away towards Jimin leaving Jin to his books and invasive thoughts. His hand reached up to his throat, running over the 3 inches wide scar running over it.

He swallowed against his own touch. Such a soft gesture but he'd felt it against the sensitive wall of the skin there. But barely. He'd barely escaped the almost inevitable fate that had born that scar. The one that had taken everything he'd known and loved, and everything that made him happy.

A small sigh left his lips. He heard his friends at the back laughing and gisting. He clutched the book in his hand, eyes boring a hole through the metal table of the lab as he let his hand slip away from his neck.

Slowly, he let the thought and his pain slip away, after all that was what he'd learned to do over the years.

School went on normally the rest of the day and by 3, he was in the driver's side of a shiny black Porsche—one of Jungkook's assigned cars for school.

Jin hoped Jungkook would just come out and not try to be rebellious. He really wasn't in the mood to chase after the 17-year-old boy that afternoon. After dropping Jungkook off, Jin intended to head back to his living quarters, change into something comfortable and head to a club of his own to let off some steam.

He loved to study but he also loved to chill and have fun as well.

Luckily, Jin spotted Jungkook causally strolling towards the car. He had his face in his phone and looked utterly unhappy to ride with Jin but that didn't even bother Jin. He was just happy he and Jungkook had had an understanding earlier.

In no time, Jungkook climbed into the backseat, filling the place with his expensive Dior perfume before pulling his headphones from his bag and putting it on.

Jin recognized the sound coming from it. It was Another Love by Tom Odell. Jungkook was annoying but at least, his music taste was tolerable, Jin thought as he put the gear into drive and drove out of the school's parking lot.

A/N: Hello, babes!

It's that time again. Welcome to a new book. A new journey. A new JinKook story 🎉

I'm really really excited for this book, because it's a trope that I haven't exactly done before, but one that I enjoy reading so much; Enemies To Lovers.

The chapters would vary. It would be shorter in some, and longer in some. Also, there will be 2 POVs - Jin and Jungkook. I don't know why that has become a thing for me lol, but I hope you all don't mind that.

Please support me. Comment a lot. I love to know what you guys are thinking. Trust me, reading your comments makes my day. Don't forget to vote as well as follow me, if you aren't 🥹

Uploading will be twice in a week. I won't give specific days, but just expect 2 chapters every week. It's just going to be spontaneous.

I really hope that you enjoy this book 🥺❤️
