Chapter Fifteen

Hanuel was hunched over the table, looking at something his assistant was showing to him on a tab. His blonde hair made him stand out, especially in professional settings, but it was his signature look.

He'd been known for his blonde hair look since before his father became the President six years ago. Now in the second term of being the First Son of Korea, his long, luscious hair that tumbled in fine waves over his shoulder still look healthier than ever. Jungkook had expected them to have started falling out in massive chunks because definitely, all that chemical wasn't healthy, but he was certainly wrong.

Chen and Liam stood at the top of the steps leading to the backyard, where the large pool was located. It was three times the size of a regular pool, with a large golden crown emblem carved into the tiles of the pool floor.

The wind tousled Jungkook's hair in the air, sending his open shirt bellowing behind him. It was really beautiful and serene here. The environment wasn't so similar but the serenity reminded him of The Maldives.

Hanuel looked up briefly and snapped his head down, before turning to him again sharply, recognizing the person walking towards him. A big bright smile broke on his thin lips, giving his chiseled face a softer look.

"JUNKIE!" Hanuel hyped up, standing to his feet and jogging over to throw his arms over Jungkook's neck, pulling him flush against his body. One of his hand pressed against Jungkook's head, tugging at his hairs.

The problem with Hanuel was he didn't understand the concept of boundaries. To Jungkook, they weren't that close to be hugging each other so fondly. He'd met Hanuel only twice before. The first time being a conference he'd gone to with his father in Washington, where they'd been introduced.

The second time was at Hanuel's 16th birthday party a few months ago, which had been a disaster and Jungkook had practically walked out of it. During the course of dinner, Hanuel had leaned in and asked in a whisper. "Want to go up to my room?" He'd asked, his fingers subtly grazing Jungkook's thighs.

And, even though he'd apologised the next day with a bouquet of flowers and a note—which Jungkook had tossed into a bin—it didn't mean he wasn't still cautious around him.

"Hey," Jungkook said, awkwardly. "What's up?" he asked, placing his hand on Hanuel's shoulders and slightly pushing him off.

Hanuel smiled, stepping back a few inches. "Nothing. It's so good to see your pretty face again," Hanuel said, his eyes skimming up and down Jungkook's frame.

For someone who was younger than him, Hanuel freaked Jungkook out. He always stared at Jungkook like he was dinner and his hands wandered occasionally, which was why Jungkook intended to keep as much space between them as possible so as not to do something that might become national news.

"Yeah. Same. How have you been?" Jungkook asked, as Hanuel made a hand gesture, dismissing his assistant who gathered his property in his hands and made his way out without a word.

"I've been good. Dad's making me oversea certain projects. For instance, I was in Haiti last month where we provided health and feeding assistance. The country's been in shambles since the last earthquake. Next week, I'm headed to Afghanistan. After the war, civilians are displaced and billions worth of properties destroyed. I'm organizing up a fundraiser in a few weeks to provide a permanent home for a thousand families as well as building a couple of schools and clinics across the state."

"That is your personal project? The Afghanistan one?" Jungkook asked.

Hanuel nodded, grabbing a glass of orange juice from the table. "I hate seeing people suffer," he said, and despite Jungkook's reservations towards the boy, he couldn't deny the note of empathy lacing his words.

"That's really kind of you," Jungkook admitted.

Hanuel blushed, trapping his lower lip between his teeth. "Whatever." He let out a sigh. "By the way, I didn't invite you here to talk politics. We're here to have fun and relax. Yeah?"

Jungkook hesitated but nodded eventually. "Alright."

Soon, Hanuel's friends joined them in the villa. Lucas and Shim were both sons of Senators, who were extroverts like Hanuel. It seemed like they all clicked and Jungkook almost stuck out like a sore thumb. After 3 hours of hanging around the boys, he was more than ready to retire for the day.

But Lucas had another plan, and before Jungkook knew it, the four of them were packed in Hanuel's jeep, driving down to another part of the island for a bonfire party on the beach. American pop music played from the large speakers erected at various points as they made their way towards the crowd.

"You ready to party, guys? Junkie?" Lucas asked, a look a mischief in his eyes.

Jesus Christ. Jungkook hated that nickname. "Uhm, you guys go ahead. I'll just chill back here and watch," he said, then added, just to put it out there. "Also, Junkie is not a cool nickname, at all."

Lucas laughed. "My bad." He looked between Hanuel and Shim. "Party?"

Shim threw his arms in the air. "Hell yeah!" he concurred before the two of them were racing towards the crowd, letting out screams and erupting cheers from the crowd.

"They're a handful, I know," Hanuel said as if he could read Jungkook's mind. He let out a soft chuckle, next to Jungkook.

"Maybe two," Jungkook replied, pushing his hands into the pockets of his shorts. It was so chilly out there on the beach. He suddenly wished he'd worn something thicker besides a plain white cotton shirt and some floral beach shorts.

"You're a lot quieter than I thought you'd be," Hanuel said.

Jungkook turned to look at him briefly. Hanuel stared straight ahead, watching Shim and Lucas goof around with other people.

"I'm not sure why, but I always imagined you to be... not quite an extrovert, but not exactly so introverted. You don't speak unless spoken to, and even when you do respond, it's kind of limited," Hanuel continued.

Shrugging, Jungkook let out a sigh. "I'm already under the spotlight. Being loud would only draw more unwanted attention to me. I hate it."

"Why? It's incredible to be famous. Everyone know you, everyone loves you."

"That is very wrong. Just because people know you doesn't mean they love you, it doesn't even mean that they like you. I love my life private. I sometimes wish I had a regular life with regular parents, and that the only people who would know me are the ones who matter to me," Jungkook admitted out loud.

There he was out by the beach at night on jeju island surrounded by a bunch of people whose first name he didn't even know, pouring out his deepest wishes to someone he didn't like.

"Do you hate your current life?"

"Not hate. I mean, I love being rich. It's convenient to be able to afford whatever i want. But being averagely rich would have been okay for me. I know I don't sound exactly ambitious right now, but... okay, listen. I came here in a private jet. If my parents were just rich enough to get me a plane ticket, maybe not economy because I have really long legs and it would be highly uncomfortable, but business class would be fine for me. And we don't need the ten bedroom mansion we have back in Seoul, there's only three of us in my family," he said, scoffing in amusement.

Hanuel laughed.

"There are way too many staff in my house. We have four chefs, and about eleven cleaners and then there are six drivers, and a whole team of security, which is quite understandable, but I can drive myself yet I have a... a..." Jungkook's words stretched into a small silence. He rubbed his forehead tiredly, before swallowing. "My point is, if I were to be a regular person in this world, I'd really cherish a private, quiet, average life. A life where I can be happy in my own small, comfortable space and a life where what I eat, what I say and whoever I fall in love with is my business alone." He shook his head.

He heard a sound from Hanuel and turned to find the boy already watching him, an odd expression on his face.

God. "I'm talking too much," he said with a deep exhale, hoping to kill whatever weird feeling his words might have evoked in Hanuel.

"You're not," Hanuel said. "You're not talking too much. Actually," Hanuel's tongue darted out to lick across his lips, revealing a silver stud embedded towards the edge. "You're talking just enough," he said, before moving with the speed of light and crashing his mouth with Jungkook's, wrapping his arms around Jungkook's waist and pulling him against his body.

Jungkook was briefly taken aback by the sudden action, but it took him no time to turn his face away, plant his hand on Hanuel's chest and try to push him off. But Hanuel's hold on him tightened, his grip became more aggressive and his mouth grew more demanding.
