Chapter 32
Leaning against the kitchen counter, I watch as Keigo decides to have a dabble at cooking for once. The messy blonde male smiling to himself as he chops up some onions and some peppers for the so called 'spectacular meal' that he had in store for me. Despite my better judgement, I allowed him to have free reign over my kitchen (as long as he didn't burn the house down), so he could cook. A small smile plays on my lips as he stands at the stove and pours oil into the pan with a small hum, he wasn't telling me what he was making but I'm guess it's something to do with chicken.
Judging by the spices, I'm guessing either fajitas or enchiladas.
After the bombshell of a dinner, Keigo tried making it up to me when it wasn't even his fault that it went wrong. He would make me breakfast in bed, go out to get takeout for lunch and sometimes make dinner (if I didn't want to). He made sure that I was happy and always showered me with kisses before he left for his patrols and then greeted me with kisses when he came to work for modelling or back home. It was as if he was trying to prove something.
Thankfully, despite how terrible it went, Damien and Keigo really got along well. They talked about anything and everything, they really got along and Damien made the effort to get to know him which meant so much to me.
As Keigo fries the sliced chicken breasts in the pan, I watch as he begins to season the chicken with as much spice as he can. The male giggling as I tilt my head with a smile. Once the oil in the other pan is hot enough, he adds the peppers and the onions into it and lets them sizzle away with a small hum before adding spices to them too. His eyes shimmering with joy as he grabs a plate from the cupboard to begin making nachos for us too.
"Having fun there, bird brain?" I ask, leaning against the island as I watch Keigo stick his tongue out and add whatever he can to the pans, grinning to himself as he opens the fridge to see what he can add to our meal, "Are you going to tell me what we're having for dinner or do I have to wait until you've served it?"
"You gotta wait, baby bird," He hums, dancing around the kitchen with Angel weaving through his legs, her tail wagging happily as she barks toward the winged hero, "It's a surprise~ All good things come to those who wait~"
"I see," I hum, pushing myself up to sit on the island with a smile, giggling as Keigo adds the fried onions and peppers to the chicken with the spices and mixes them together with a small hum, "Have you ever cooked?"
"I've cooked from time to time... only for myself so this is the first time I've cooked for someone else," he explains sheepishly, grabbing a fork to quickly try the chicken with a small hum and moans in delight at how tasty the food is, "God, I'm good! You're going to love this baby! I swear!"
"I can't wait," I hum, giggling as he slots himself in between my legs and presses a kiss against my lips, his hands resting gently at my waist while I wrap my arms around his neck, a smile plays on my lips as he pulls away, "I love you Keigo,"
"I love you more, (Y/n)," he hums, kissing my nose before clearing his throat to go back and sort out the food. His eyes scanning over the nachos, adding salsa and cheese to the nachos and then putting them in the microwave to melt the cheese, "You ready for a scrumptious dinner made my yours truly~"
"You know I am," I hum, watching as he grabs a bowl from the cupboard to pour the chicken, peppers and onions into the bowl and setting it in the centre of the dining table amongst a plate full of wraps, bowls full of salad and cheese and the plate full of nachos, "Looks amazing Keigo,"
"Thank you my darling," Keigo coos, kissing me gently before pulling the chair out for me to sit on, a giggle leaving my lip as he pushes the chair in once I've sat down, "I thought we could have a 'make your own' fajita night, I did homemade guacamole too!"
"That's really sweet Kei," I hum, grabbing a wrap from the plate and placing it on mine before adding the chicken and cheese and everything else that I wanted, adding some salsa on top with a smile before folding the wrap to make it into a fajita, "Thank you for cooking, I really appreciate it,"
"Anything for you, baby bird," he coos, sitting down in his seat and clearing his throat before grabbing a wrap of his own and making his own fajita, the sweet aromatic spicy smell wafts around the room making my mouth water, "I hope you enjoy it,"
As we dig into our meal, the pair of us couldn't help but laugh at one another. Whenever Keigo bit into his fajita, juices would slide down his hand and down his wrist and arm making him groan under his breath. The nachos would be a tug of war between us. I'd get salsa smeared on my cheeks or on my nose which would make Keigo laugh and kiss his off. We were just having fun with it.
And we may have or may have not threw food at one another from time to time.
As I grab myself a chunk of nachos from the plate, I dig into it happily and hum at how delicious the meal is. Keigo really outdid himself. Smiling to myself, I watch as Keigo digs into another fajita, groaning and humming in delight at how delicious his meal is. The spices were providing a real kick which made my tastebuds sing happily. Keigo really knew how to spice his food. He should cook more often, especially spicy meals like —
Knock knock...
Cursing under my breath, I grab a kitchen towel and quickly wipe my hands clean from the juices of our dinner and run my fingers through my hair. A small sigh leaving my lips as I set it down and press a quick kiss to my boyfriends cheek before heading toward the front, wondering who would be at my door at this house. Especially in the middle of dinner. Who on earth could it be?
It couldn't be Amai. I told her she wasn't allowed to set foot in the house, let alone the porch, for the next week unless she wanted me to rip her hair out. Unless Amai wanted a death wish, she wouldn't be on my porch. Sighing to myself, I peek into my peephole and groan to myself. Oh my god!
What the hell was my mom doing on my porch?!
"It's my mom," I mouth looking toward Keigo who bites his lip. The male clears his throat and sends me a reassuring smile before nodding toward me, "Are you sure you want to be here?"
"It's obviously something to do with me, so if she has a problem she can say it to my face," Keigo explains gently, sending me a soft thumbs up as I hit my head against the wall with a small whine, "Babe, it'll be okay, just see what she wants and if she kicks off then you can kick her out. It's your house after all,"
Nodding gently, I rest my hand on the door handle and brace myself for what's about to happen. Once I'm ready, I open my front door to greet my mother who stands there with her arms crossed over her chest with Damien behind her sending me a small reassuring smile. I'm guessing Damien came to reel her in if she got too much or if she decided to go too far and start something that she shouldn't have.
"Mom! Damien! Hi!" I chirp with a sweet smile, leaning against my doorway as my mother and step father greet me with a small smile, "Amai isn't here, she's at Arata's for the week,"
"I'm not here for her," My mom hums, pushing herself into my home making me gawk at her rudeness. It's my house! Why is it okay for her to just barge in when I didn't give her permission? Cursing under my breath, I watch as my mother narrows her eyes at our dinner, "You didn't even cook a proper meal? How lazy is that?"
"Please, come in and ridicule everything in sight," I hum sarcastically, shutting the door behind Damien as he rubs the back of his neck and sighs to himself, "And that dinner was amazing, thank you, sometimes the most simplest of meals are the most nicest. It doesn't have to be fancy to be delicious, Ma,"
"Hi Mrs (L/n)," Keigo hums with a small smile, finishing off the nachos and waving toward Damien, "Hey Damien, having a good day?"
"Hi Keigo," Damien hums, sending my boyfriend a kind smile before pulling Angel into his arms and kissing the Samoyed's cheek with a chuckle, "I'm doing good,"
"What are you doing here, mom? What do you want?" I ask crossing my arms over my chest as I lean against the dining table. I watch as my mother hums, "Hm? What do you want? Because I have a very busy evening of cuddling my boyfriend and watching movies to stick to and frankly, you're interrupting it,"
"I just wanted to say I'm sorry for the way I acted last night," she begins, sending me a small reassuring smile as I arch a brow, "And that you can date Keigo because I know it's just a phase,"
"You see, you were doing really well and then you just ruined it," I point out, narrowing my eyes toward my mom who shrugs and clears her throat as I sigh, "And why would it be a phase? Hm? What's Amai said?"
"Nothing sweetie, it's just that it's your first relationship and it doesn't always work out," she hums simply making me gawk at her with wide eyes before looking toward Keigo who rubs the bridge of his nose with a groan, "Plus, how many girls has he been with? Who's to say you aren't just another rebound?"
"Mom!" I scold, staring at her in horror as she stares at me, "He hasn't done anything wrong! Why would you say that? What are you even getting at?"
"With all due respect, Mrs (L/n)," Keigo begins, standing up from the dining table making me tense up. Mentally screaming at him not to say anything to ruin my chances of living, "Who she dates has nothing to do with you and if she's happy with me then you should be happy for her. I'm not saying you have to like me but you can't treat her differently for dating me. We've worked out and settled our differences and I have treated your daughter with nothing but respect, kindness and I have spoiled her as much as I can. If you have a problem with that, then you can take that up with me,"
"I don't care how you've treated her, I don't trust you," My mother hisses narrowing her eyes, turning her nose up at the food on the dining table as I nibble on the lettuce, "And when you break up, and you will, I will run your name through the mud and make you regret even be —"
"(M/n)! That's enough!" Damien scolds, cutting my mother off. My eyes widening slightly as I head to Keigo, looking up at him as he holds me close and kisses my forehead gently. I've never heard Damien yell at anyone before. He's always been rather quiet and soft, "Get to the car, now! You said you were here to apologise for the other day but clearly you had ulterior motives! Get in the car!"
As my mother leaves the house, Damien takes a deep breath and sighs to himself as he shakes his head. Keigo pulls me close into his chest as I snuggle into his warmth and take a shaky breath, sniffling to myself as I cling to him and whimper gently.
"I am very sorry for her, something I notice I'm doing a lot recently," Damien hums with a small sigh and runs his fingers through his hair, "If I had known she'd be so.... like that... I wouldn't have let her —"
"It's fine, really, but I don't want her near (Y/n) if this is how she's going to act," Keigo explains, rubbing my back as I wipe my eyes and smush my face against his chiseled chest with a small whine, "It's bad enough Amai put her through that, I don't need her mom giving her the same shit,"
"Of course, I'll talk to her," Damien hums before walking over and kissing my forehead as I lean into my boyfriend, "Chin up, (Y/n), it'll be okay. I'll sort you mom out,"
Smiling softly, I watch as Damien winks toward me before leaving the house and shutting the door behind him. As soon as he's gone, I look up at Keigo who kisses my forehead and hoists me up into his arms, the male wrapping my legs around his waist before heading toward the living room and grabbing the remote control with a small hum.
"I'm sorry..." I mumble, looking down as I snuggle into his chest with a sniffle, taking a nervous breath as he sits down and holds me tightly to him, "I'm really sorry..."
"Shh, baby bird, it's okay," Keigo reassures me making me look down and wipe my eyes, the male chuckles gently as he cups my face and wipes my tears away with a small hum, "Look, your mom can call me every name under the sun and your sister can try and stir up as much shit as possible but none of that will make me feel different about you. I love you and no one else. You're my girlfriend, you make me feel like the luckiest guy in the world, baby bird, no one will ever make me feel different, okay? So please don't apologise for something that you couldn't control,"
"You're not mad?" I ask gently, sitting up in his lap and wiping my eyes as I look at him, "Really?"
"Why would I be mad? I'm not mad at you baby, I could never get mad at you," he coos, kissing me gently and smiling as I kiss back with a small smile, "I'm mad at your mom and your sister for making you feel like shit when I have done nothing but treat you like a queen but that's their problem, not mine. You deserve to be happy baby, now, come on, where's that smile?"
Biting back a giggle, I look up at him and smile gently. The male grins back and pulls me close to him so our chests are pressed up close to one another. As our eyes meet, Keigo licks his lips and slides his hands down to my ass, gently squeezing it making me squeak with a small giggle before wrapping my arms around his neck and kissing his nose gently. Resting my elbows on his shoulders, I lace my fingers into his blonde locks and fiddle with his hair.
"I love you," Keigo coos, nuzzling his nose against my own making me giggle, "So, so much,"
"I love you more," I coo back, scratching behind his head making him hum and lean into it with a smile, "How did I get so lucky as to date you? Hm?"
"By giving me a second chance," Keigo hums, capturing his lips in mine, smiling as I happily kiss back and hum gently, biting my lip as he pulls away, "Wanna cuddle? I can get some candy and we can roar into that,"
"That sounds amazing,"...
"That is my speciality~"...
"Of course it is,"...
