"Love your enemies. It makes them so damned mad." - P D East
SANA'S heart pounded as she approached him, her footsteps echoing in the quiet corridor. She could see the slight tension in his shoulders as if he was aware of her presence, but he didn't turn around. His indifference only heightened her nerves.
"Sidharth," she called out, her voice more uncertain than she intended.
He didn't respond. Didn't even glance her way.
Sana's frustration boiled over. "Why are you ignoring me?"
He knew he was getting under her skin. She was growing restless and tense, likely having sleepless nights. Most of the time, she was probably thinking about him, desperate for his attention. He noticed that. And that was exactly what he wanted.
He wanted her to seek him out, to crave his attention. To go crazy when he wasn't around, and to feel disappointed when he ignored her. He wanted to make her sad, upset, angry, and desperate for him-so desperate that she would come to him, begging for his attention, asking him to talk to her, to do whatever he wanted.
But she had no idea what he truly wanted to do with her-and it wasn't anything good.
Anything he knew she'd want him to do with her. He had noticed how her body reacted when he touched her. It satisfied his ego. Her body became submissive to his touch, even if she didn't realize it. But he would make sure she did-soon.
When he would fuck her pretty little smart mouth, the same mouth that dared to talk back to him. Her hands would be tied above her head, and her body would be at his mercy. And her perfect peachy ass would be spanked repeatedly until it turned crimson, just like her cheeks did whenever she came close to him.
She had no idea what she'd done to him that night, wearing that sexy black dress. He had barely controlled himself from dragging her to an empty corner and fucking her senselessly from behind. He had a major fascination for her ass. She had looked so beautiful that night; he had almost gotten hard just watching her.
By now, he understood one thing: he had a major physical attraction to her.
He didn't want to make love to her. Love was a myth to him. But he definitely wanted to hate-fuck her until the only name she remembered was his-not Ram's or anyone else's.
He had noticed how she had been laughing, giggling, and dancing with Ram. For a brief moment, he didn't like what he saw. He wanted to be in Ram's place. He wanted to be the one making her laugh and giggle at his silly jokes.
The urge was so strong that, in the heat of the moment, he had approached her friend Julia for a dance. He had no interest in Julia or dancing, but he needed Julia to get to Sana and be in Ram's place.
He knew he had acted impulsively and possessively, but that made him do it.
Did he regret it? No. He just wanted to claim her as his, even if only for a moment.
"Hello! I'm talking to you," she snapped.
Sidharth paused, his back still to her, but he didn't reply. Instead, he began walking toward the men's washroom, as if she hadn't said a word. He wanted to see how desperate she could get.
"What the fuck?" Anger surged in her chest. She wasn't going to let him walk away like that.
She quickened her pace, stepping in front of him to block his path. "I asked you a question."
Sidharth finally met her gaze, his eyes cold and unreadable. "Move."
But Sana stood her ground. "You can't just pretend like nothing happened. Why are you ignoring me?"
Sidharth let out a sigh, though inwardly, he was enjoying every second of this. Her desperation was palpable, and it fed his ego like nothing else.
"I'm done playing games with you, Sana. You don't exist to me anymore," he said coldly.
His words hit her like a punch to the gut. Sana's breath hitched, her chest tightening with a mixture of frustration and something else she couldn't quite name.
"That's not true, and you know it," she whispered, her voice trembling slightly.
"Why? Are you missing me already?" he taunted, smirking.
"It's nothing like that."
"I can see it," he smiled knowingly, recognizing that she was lying not only to him but to herself as well.
"It's the truth,' she argued, but her voice was defeated.
"Really?" Sidharth's expression remained unreadable, but there was a flicker of something dark in his eyes.
Before she could react, he grabbed her chin, his fingers digging into her soft cheeks as he tilted her head up, forcing her to look directly into his eyes.
The sudden physical contact sent a shiver down her spine, and for a moment, she forgot how to breathe, what to do, or what to say.
His face was so close to hers, their noses almost touching. His breath was warm, brushing against her skin.
Her lips parted, but no words came out. Her mind was a chaotic mess of emotions-anger, confusion, and something else entirely.
Sidharth's eyes flicked down to her lips briefly before meeting her gaze again. "You want to know why I'm ignoring you?" he whispered, his voice laced with cruelty.
She nodded, desperate.
"Because I don't like you, Babygirl. I hate you. I want to destroy you." he said truthfully. "So if you don't want all these things to happen to you, you better stop bothering me and mind your own fucking business."
His thumb brushed over her bottom lip, the touch both gentle and possessive, sending a rush of heat through her body.
She could feel her breath becoming uneven, her pulse racing.
"Still, if you come running to me, begging for my attention, I will fucking ruin you and your perfect life with my darkness. So, you better stay out of my way. Understood?" he was harshly, his tone cold as ice and his dark eyes black as coal, making her shiver.
She could barely think, let alone respond. She felt trapped under his gaze, under the intensity of the moment. Her heart was racing, her body betraying her by reacting to his touch in a way she didn't understand. It was wrong. It was all so wrong. And yet...
Sidharth's eyes bore into hers for another moment before he released her chin, stepping back with a smug smirk playing on his lips.
"Now leave me alone," he muttered. "Babygirl," he added, his voice laced with a mockery that made her shiver.
And then, just as quickly as it had started, it was over. He turned and walked into the washroom, leaving her standing there, breathless and confused.
Sana stood there for a long moment, trying to collect herself. Her cheeks burned where his fingers had touched her, and her heart was still pounding from the closeness of his body.
Her hands trembled as she pressed them against her burning cheeks, her mind spinning from what had just happened. She felt hurt, embarrassed, and strangely enough... she felt something else too. Something she didn't want to admit.
She hated him.
But somehow, that wasn't the full truth.
She hated herself for being affected by him. For feeling this desperate. She hated him for making her feel this way, for making her want him when all he wanted was to hurt her.
She had no idea what was coming next. But one thing was certain-Sidharth Vyas was dangerous. And she was already too deep to escape.
Sana returned to the table, sliding into her seat as her eyes scanned the table in front of her. The food had already arrived-Biryani. She sighed, understanding Ram had won the debate with Siya over what they'd eat. The scent of spices wafted up, but she barely registered it.
Ram was a dominating person
Her eyes drifted to Julia, who was still watching them like some sort of hawk. It pissed her off.
"Can you stop staring and just eat? You're making it obvious," she muttered under her breath, glaring at her friend.
Julia blinked, caught off guard, then nodded. "Yeah, sorry," she mumbled, turning back to her food.
Sana picked up her fork, attempting to join the conversation. Ram and Siya were going on about the trip to Mount Abu-boot camps, hiking, trekking, the bonfire tonight, BBQs, game night, and all the other activities they'd be doing. Four days of adventure. They'd leave in two days, and everyone was excited, and she should have been excited.
But she's not.
Her mind? Her mind was somewhere else entirely.
Sidharth.
She tried to act interested, but her mind kept drifting back to him. To Sidharth and the way he looked at her, the way his words cut deep. He warned her to stay away from him, and she knew she should listen-for her own good.
His warnings and hateful words echoed in her head, over and over.
Stay away from me.
I will destroy you.
I hate you.
The way he had looked at her, the way he touched her chin, the way he spoke to her... It messed her up. She wanted to stay away, she really did.
But, damn it... her mind, her body, and-if she was being honest-somewhere deep down, her heart... all of them craved him. Craved his attention.
"What the hell is wrong with me?" she thought, frustration bubbling inside her. Why was she so damn affected by him? She hated how much space he took up in her head, how much he got under her skin.
And then, like the universe was playing a cruel joke, she heard him again. His deep, velvety voice from a few tables away, cursing at Akhil.
"Fuck you, asshole" Sidharth snapped, clearly pissed about whatever joke his friend had just made. His voice, low and rough, sent a shiver down her spine.
And worse-she felt that familiar, dangerous pulse between her legs. It shouldn't, but it did.
"What the hell?" She nearly dropped her fork, her body betraying her at the sound of his dirty mouth.
"Am I attracted to him? My enemy?" The wild thought shot through her brain before she could stop it. She wanted to deny it, to scream "no" in her own head, but her body wasn't lying.
"No. It can't be. Not. At. All," she muttered to herself, shaking her head as if the motion would somehow snap her out of it.
But just then, she heard him again.
"Fuck off! I'm gonna kill all of you dumb fuckers," he growled, his voice sharp with irritation.
Her pussy clenched at his dirty words, sending a fresh wave of heat through her body. This was bad. So, so bad.
Shit.
It hit her like a slap to the face. She was attracted to him-physically, at least. Her body wanted him, craved him, and that was a problem. A big problem. Because this wasn't just some regular crush. It was intense, dangerous, and wrong in every way.
"Oh my God, I'm actually attracted to him," she thought, panic mixing with her already confused emotions.
Out of all the guys she had to get attracted to her enemy. God must be joking right now.
The guy she was supposed to hate. And yet here she was, getting turned on by his damn voice and the way he swore like it was nothing.
She glanced over at him, trying not to stare but failing miserably. There he was, lounging with his group, looking completely at ease right now, and she hated it. She hated how he could affect her like this, without even trying.
"Am I really this messed up?" she muttered under her breath, shaking her head.
She stared at her plate, barely seeing the food in front of her, her mind spinning. She had to stay away from him. No question about it. Because if she didn't, if she let herself fall into this dangerous attraction, she knew she'd be in a way over her head.
"What?" Julia asked, raising an eyebrow at her.
"Nothing," Sana quickly brushed it off, taking a bite of her food, even though she had no appetite. Her body was on fire, her mind racing, and all because of him.
This wasn't just a crush. It wasn't just some casual interest. Her body craved him, and that was a dangerous path to walk.
If she wasn't careful, this attraction could destroy her.
She needed to get it together, fast. This attraction... this physical pull toward him, it was going to ruin her if she didn't stay away.
But even as she thought that, she knew it wasn't going to be that easy. But she has to if she wants to save herself from pain, from a heartbreak. Because she knows if she gives in to her desire and sleeps with him; she might catch feelings for him. And, he'll crush her heart mercilessly.
"Yo, Sana, you good?" Ram asked, noticing her distraction.
"Yeah, yeah, I'm fine," she lied, plastering on a smile. "Just... thinking about the trip."
"Well, stop thinking and start eating. We've got a lot to do before we head out," Siya added, already back into her excited chatter about hiking trails.
Sana nodded, but her thoughts were still tangled up with Sidharth. She had to figure out a way to shut this down-before it consumed her.
•••
It was the day they were all heading to Mount Abu, but instead of the train journey they had been excited about, they were flying. Sana, Julia, and Siya had been pumped about traveling by train since none of them had ever done it before. But their excitement got crushed when Siya's billionaire dad, Mr. Sidharth Shukla, decided to sponsor everyone's plane tickets.
Of course, he did it for his little princess, Siya.
Siya had been pissed at first, annoyed with her dad for ruining their fun. But her mom had sat her down and explained why her dad did it-protectiveness. And just like that, Siya had calmed down and accepted it. But not before Sana and Julia jumped in with a correction.
"Overprotective, you mean," Julia had said, making Siya roll her eyes and get mad at her dad all over again.
"I swear, my dad's so extra sometimes," Siya had groaned, but Ram, ever the peacekeeper, had talked her down again.
Sana had noticed how Ram was always quick to defend Siya's parents, especially her dad. It was obvious how much Ram respected Mr. Shukla, and it was clear that he genuinely loved Siya. Sana couldn't help but admire that.
But then there was Sidharth Kapoor, Siya's boyfriend. He didn't seem to care much about her family. His focus was entirely on Siya, which, to be fair, made sense, especially after what Siya had told Sana last night-his parents were going through a divorce. His dad had cheated on his mom with his assistant.
Life sucked for him right now.
"Poor Kapoor" Sana had thought, feeling a bit bad for him.
Now, they were at the airport, waiting at the gate after getting through immigration. Her friends were laughing about something, but her mind was miles away.. or more like, it was stuck on someone.
Him.
Sidharth Vyas.
Nowadays, she only thinks about him. And she hates herself for that.
According to everything she knew, he wasn't even supposed to be on this trip. Neither were his friends. They weren't in the first year like she and her group were-they were third-years.
So why the hell were they here?
She had no idea.
The past two days had been torture. Sana had done everything in her power to avoid him. She'd tried not to think about him, tried not to imagine running up to him, grabbing him by the shirt, and begging him to just fuck her so she could get him out of her mind once and for all.
Even now, sitting in the airport lounge, she was fighting the urge to get up, walk over to him, and beg him to take her somewhere private and fuck her. Her body was screaming for him, no matter how hard she tried to ignore it.
He was sitting across the lounge, looking as sexy as ever in a black turtleneck sweatshirt, matching pants, and a leather jacket. His jet-black hair was styled perfectly, but he kept running his fingers through it, messing it up in the best way possible. A single strand fell over his forehead, and of course, that damn smirk was plastered on his face.
Screw him for looking that good.
God knows how many times she'd stolen glances at him, but he hadn't spared her a single look. It was like she didn't even exist to him anymore, and honestly, it hurt. More than she'd care to admit. She tried to brush off the feeling, but it gnawed at her.
And then, it happened. She heard him laugh.
A real fucking laugh.
Her eyes snapped to him instantly, and she saw him laughing at something Payel, one of his friends, had said. It was a genuine laugh, the kind that made his eyes crinkle. And just like that, her breath hitched.
But what really got her was when she saw Payel's hand locked around his arm, her head resting on his shoulder as they both laughed. It was innocent, just a friendly touch. But Sana felt a stab of jealousy, sharp and sudden.
That should be me.
She hated how much that thought shot through her, hated how jealous she felt. This wasn't just some casual attraction anymore. She was falling into a trap-one she didn't want to be in, and one she knew she shouldn't be in.
He'll destroy her.
"Why do I care?" she muttered under her breath, trying to snap herself out of it.
"What?" Julia asked, glancing over at her.
"Nothing," Sana quickly replied, forcing a smile. She didn't want to admit the jealousy burning inside her.
Payel laughed again, still clinging to Sidharth's arm, and Sana's jaw clenched. She needed to get it together-this whole situation was spiraling out of control. She had to stay away from him, no matter how hard it was, or she was going to get herself hurt.
